Right there with you. I have been really loving Frost DKs for years but before that I was a hardcore Enhancement Shaman guy. So I am kind of stuck as well. LOL
I have always loved enhancement shammy and will always play one. My frost DK is probably on par with my shammy for fun in WoD so I am happy that both are looking good. I tend to play prot warrior and prot pally as I just never seem to click with fury (or arms) or with ret and find them a bit laborious. I am also going to persevere with my feral druid even though it was a little disappointing in WoD. I'll still wait until after the first round of major patches before deciding whether to buy Legion though. The content (or lack thereof) for casual players has me concerned.
I was hoping this video could sway me one way or the other in my struggle between Shaman and DK for Legion. Nope, they're both still amazing. God damn it.
I'm having the same problem. I have played Shaman since I started the game back in WoTLK, I have enjoyed monk a lot in Pandaria and WoD, Dk's have never been my cup of tea, but they look so damn fun now. I'm really torn.
Guys, this is very opinion based dont choose what to main according to other peoples' opinion please.PTR is open for everyone. And it is there to test all specs.Test it on your own and find whats fun for you!Have a nice day.
Not only does he disclaim that he also explains what he likes/dislikes in the videos. Taking his list as a starter is defintively valid if you don't want to waste hours on the ptr...
Please do remember that this is opinion. For example, I quite enjoyed most of the classes in his bottom list, but I didn't care for the stuff at the top of his list. Especially his no.1 pick, I just did not like it at all. On the other hand, I'll probably be maining Survival Hunter.
its really not all bad. the talents may be boring compared to other classes, but to be fair, it was in wod too. the core playstyle hasnt changed that much, if you enjoyed ret in wod changes are you still do. besides its all opinion anyway :p
I think the main problem with Ret is that the talents just don't bring a lot of gameplay. The only thing that really shakes things up and requires consideration as to when to use it is Crusade.
Weerknuffelbeer true but with some of the new changes you can now figure out "hmmm should i use zeal or greater judgement for aoe" plus you can choose either justicars vengeance a heavy hitting ability that also serves as a heal along with a great way to buff crusade stacks or a new mitigation or an aoe heal (personally i build to 5 hp then crusade in justicars then ashes into justicar for a ton of stacks quickly add that to the crusader strike talent you get really fast hits making you think "hmmm is zeal now better than judgement or would that still be better because i have 5 targets?" you can also pull a boss then have divine intervention proc into holy wrath or you can go full crit build and use the blade of wrath talent
Apart from beta numbers being pretty much irrelevant, you can never underestimate how influential player skill is. I have seen people with ridiculous Gear that still couldn't pull decent DPS to save their life
Great content, I really appreciate the effort you put into supporting the community, I think I've watched all the class previews since starting in MoP to learn what was for me
I love WoD and MoP ret paladin. While I did enjoy Wrath ret I don't think I'd count either of these variants as "worse to play." Legion on the other hand I dislike ret immensely.
ThePatriotChris Oh cata was horrible which is why I didn't include it. The sheer downtime was atrocious. There isn't that much downtime in legion but it still feels horrible and I can easily see why it was the worst melee spec on preach's list.
Nick Marshman unfortunately for me I love the Paladin, not just for the gameplay so I know I'm not gonna be able to pull myself away from it even in this xpac.
Hey Preach! I only just found out about your videos, I'd never really looked into WoW videos in all my years of playing but I've really enjoyed your videos, especially this one and how you went over each class. Keep it up! It's been helpful to me already!
I just dont get it, i found Ret Paladin to be so damn fun! nearly everything he said i disagreed with in regards to the ret pally, i really think im maining it for legion!
I found combat in the past and now Outlaw the only fun rogue spec I've played I am leveling a rogue to 100 in time for legion just for Outlaw but I can't stand the other specs
Honestly play whatever you like. I'll be retiring my main mythic ret paladin in legion as I really don't like the changes. Old rets will retire and new rets will take their place.
Tyler Willson I don't really care if they top damage. If they do then that's great as we've never seen ret paladin up there with other top dps classes like mage and locks. I'd rather a fluid, fun spec rather than boring talents and skills that just don't feel as fun but top dps. Honestly, if i wanted to play arms warrior, i would've rolled an arms warrior.
I have had a hard time figuring out what I want to play in Legion, as I haven't really been hardcore into WoW since my heyday of TBC/Wrath/Cata and only casually during MoP/WoD with very long breaks during these two. Not to mention the feeling of repetition and staleness of ever increasing class homogenization over the past few years that has put me off. It's good to know now that my old DK raiding main during Wrath/Cata is going to be dusted off and put back into the fray thanks to your video. The new spells and gameplay look fucktastic!
Wholeheartedly agree with the Death Knight. its stupid how FUN it is. Not even good, just FUUUUUUUN! Inside a single spec like unholy, there's 2 main ways of playing it and then 3-5 tweaks that still change it, all of which work and are great. From affliction warrior in pvp to bursty setup in pve, there's just so much depth. And as said, if unholy gets outperformed by frost on mythic raiding (which i kinda suspect it will) its fine, cause frost is SO FUN too, in a different really meaty satisfying way. Frost atm is the definition of BIG DICK DPS, you go just mad seeing the carnage you leave behind.
For frost to be better than unholy it would have to come down to breath of sindragosa or the artifact ability being stupidly powerful. Removing Killing Machine for Frost strike means an over reliance on physical damage which is pretty bad compared to the old one which was also overshadowed by Unholy. It looks to be a trash killer for now with remorseless winter and classic howling blast spam.
+Glen Tipton I didn't even consider PvP. Of course I would probably still prefer Frost for PvP but late game scaling with Mastery changes how PvE works in terms of Physical damage so Frost is at a disadvantage unless the CDs are ridiculous.
Same here! I dropped my DK in WoD and got into Combat Rogue a lot, loved Combat Rogue. Not feeling Outlaw as much and I have been reeeally enjoying Frost DK, very satisfying and fun to play so far.
Don't forget Survival =) I remember in Vanilla where a properly geared and speccd Survival hunter could wreck you with Mongoose bite. Still was ranged but that was the whole point of hunters and why they had a range penalty to using the bow/gun, that was having a melee alternative for brief close quarters combat, then get out and range again. Now since they made them so mobile, removed range requirements, it seems odd to make a pure melee hunter without any hunter aspects, like say reliance on traps and melee, a specialty in hunting knives/daggers etc.
I'm relatively new to WoW and I thought Death Knights were really cool looking so it was nice to hear that it was very strong. However, I looked up a video guide for it and the resources and whatnot looked really complicated. Is it actually difficult or is it easy to learn? Thanks for any help.
I agree with preacher on everything said about dk to me all 3 specs look fun and feel good to play. Comparing it to my pally it's just night in the day on which class blizzard put more effort into and made interesting .
I cannot find your Frost Death Knight Beta Complete Preview video. There is one from Alpha that runs for ~45 minutes, but you seem to have done updated videos for all the melee except frost?
He made the statements that many classes have changed during Alpha and Beta updates which moved some classes up and down the list based on things being reworked so much it has changed his liking one or another, either they broke something that was good and viable or they added or changed a class and made it better. As we all know Blizzard fixes and breaks classes all the time, its not called the nerf hammer for nothing.
The preview is a couple months old now, with alpha/beta and them changing all sorts of stuff it looks like it got taken down a peg.... or twelve... I've played with PTR ret and I hate it compared to WoD ret. Sad times :(
Similarly to WoD I actually chose the same favorite spec as Preach, going from a Rogue main in WoD to DK Main and Enhc Twink in Legion. I'm so damn pumped! Thanks for the awesome content, Preacher!
I agree with a good portion of your opinions, but you are WAY off on the Outlaw Rogue. Since you mainly raid and don't PVP, I can maybe understand where you're coming from, but you clearly did not get enough time or practice in with the Outlaw to appreciate it. Some of the coolest looking new attacks, the combos, the speed, the Dreadblade artifact weapons, the theme and the utility, all combine to be by far the most fun and interesting spec in the game. People that complain about damage forget that we're still in beta and numbers can easily change. In battlegrounds and arenas though, it's a thrilling beast of a spec, and you really need to give it a second glance.
Ya know BM Hunter is my main in live and I didn't see much in the new Surv that I liked. Testing it, the functionality worked well enough, but the rotation was bland and the mongoose bite mechanic was.. alright? I haven't tested it in pvp yet, but you're saying all of that becomes way more fun out there?
Outlaw may be fun in PVP but it sucks if you're a serious arena player. Roll the bones is too RNG it can make or ruin the arena for you. If you pick up slice and dice instead, you have no potential burst. The only decent rogue spec I have found in arena is assassination. But that may just be me. There's no doubt rogue is going to be strong in PVP. As for this videos his issues with the rogue seem to be he doesn't get it or it doesn't fit. That has no bearings on if the rogue is actually good in pve.
From all the testing I've done in pvp beta and all the number crunching I've seen, Sub is going to dominate arena for the rogue class. However, in Battlegrounds, the teamwork traits and talents that Outlaw boasts have made them top or near top damage in Many instances.
Does this video (like many class guides out there) talk mainly from a "end game, progression raiding" POV or are you also considering gameplay related to other types of gameplay like soloing, levelling, worldquests, and so on?
People fail to realize this is his opinion, what he finds fun you might not, idealizing and basing an entire "well since preach hates x class, i'm not going to play it". I'm rerolling back to rogue just for legion, just because I LOVE the idea of having a melee class you have to micromanage dots with for maximum DPS. It's on his shit list, but at the moment, mut rogues are one of, if not the highest damage dealing classes in the game, and they might not even be fully optimized when doing so. I get you're on vacation preach, and I have literally nothing against ya, just wanted to let these guys know "what's bad for me" doesn't mean they'll hate it too. >.>
thank goodness I also have a DK as a backup, and will probably use my /100 on a shammy! Pally was also the lowest on his tanking comparison as well. Wondering how the healing is going to rank. lol
Hey Preach, you are one of the few people I know who have actually played pretty much every spec in the legion alpha/beta, so I got a question regarding about them: which specs woud you say are the easiest ones to play in raids/5mans in terms of "rotation" and things like that? Got quite a few rusty returning players joining us on Legion, mainly for our nm & hc runs and as I have only looked into the specs I plan to play I got no idea which specs to recommend for them. Historically Melee is the role with least mechanics to worry about, but some of the specs (such as WW) tend to be really punishing if you aren't able to play the spec properly. In MoP the go "newbie" spec was frost DK, in WoD many would argue Ret pally to be the one. Both are your usual durable tanky melee spesc with strong defensive skills and/or self heals, which have made them great in inexperienced hands in the past, but has some other spec passed them in Legion, particularly in terms of easy rotation? Bonus points if the spec also has solid aoe capabilities.
I like the subt rogue. The idea of being an edgelord with shadow magic is cool, and it still retains the fundamentals of WoD subt but with just a faster playstyle since you have three short Shadow Dances rather than one big Shadow Dance.
Furious Slash is the worst ability I've ever seen. I NEVER use it. I would much rather use Whirlwind. Furious Slash does less damage than Whirlwind, and even if you use it like 3 times (which is 3 wasted attacks basically), it still might not cause your Bloodthirst to crit. Of course Blizzard decided that for pvp, to make warriors use furious slash, they made it so we have basically no crit chance at all. This ruins the fury warrior entirely as a pvp spec. Luckily there is a pvp talent which can be used for fury. Though they need to enrage once for it to work at all. Really, if they want it to be used, they just need to make it do more damage than whirlwind, and perhaps they should make it increase the crit chance of all attacks
Fury was deleted as a PVP option the moment they added the 30% (20% if talented) additional damage while enraged. Meanwhile arms is getting access to much more flexible and controllable sources of both pressure and burst with talents like Focused Raged and MortalCombo while still having defensive stance.
All you have to do is BT>RB>FS>BT>RB>FS and throw in Rampage when you have enough rage or it procs. If you have a single target. The increased chance of crit is much more of a payoff long term than a whirlwind on less than 3 enemies.
You have such a unique perspective on classes, Preach. I don't agree with your opinions most of the time, but I still enjoy hearing them... for some reason. Thanks for the vid!
Something he hated with the rogue was that it was a nightmare beeing pure dps, so imo it will be down to what he thinks of the rest of them, as in mistweaver and brew(we know he loved mistweaver) resto shaman(don't think he has made a vid on it yet, we know he loves ele) and blood, which he mentioned was one of the better ones, but still things like shadow priest etc
In an earlier video he was saying he might go for Monk after being so impressed with Windwalker since he also likes the Mistweaver spec for healing and somewhat likes Brewmaster as well if he felt like he needed to play something non-dps. Could still be anything though at this point... except Paladin...
dk spriest demo warlock and fury warrior all look amazing for legion, i think im gunna stick with spreist tho since the change to use you're void form when ever you want to is so fun enjoyable and rewarding into one little amazing package
A question about the Warrior, back in WoD I wanted to roll a Warrior just for the Gladiator stance, Protection was absolutely a blast for me so I thought Gladiator Stance would make It even better, but I notice It's missing from the Protection Talent tree. Does that mean It's done for?
The Metamorphosis Demonology Warlock was right in the middle of this video. It was cool in one specific spec, but the other talents weren't very fun, according to Preach.
Sorry Preach but the WoD Ret Paladin is quite literally complete garbage and the changes now are much better. Also people abandoning specs because of prepatch balance and early beta balance is hilarious. Half of these "fun" specs are going to be bashed with hammers once Blizz starts getting live raid data Its both cute and sad seeing enhance shamans getting so excited as if they're unaware of how Blizzard hates shamans and how enhance is probably going to be dumpstered 3 weeks into the expansion
what's interesting is WoD ret is very rng on procs and I thought preach hated rng, legion is very much use abilities to charge up holy power and then use your big fuck off spenders, It's not restricted by too much rng proccing and I find it quite fun. A lot of classes work the same he likes ww monk but it's the same as ret pally. I just don't get his analysis. This video is super negative and it really doesn't help when it's meant to be a comparison between the classes not between what's bad about all the classes.
Hey preach I literally watch all your videos ive watched every video the past year and a half. I was wondering if you are going to do / have time to do a ranged final look as there been a lot of number changes in the past 3 weeks. I been looking at affliction warlock as a main, mainly cause it seems like 90% of legion content is in the open world and it will be nice to have healing a affli lock has for no down time. seems like picking any class with no sustain will be hell to do the legion content if you have no healer around. so from playing them i'm considering affli lock first and unholy dk 2nd as a main. you have an opinion on this? or does open world sustain really matter?
I watched this video and greatly appreciated your honest opinions. The attempt at being as unbiased as possible is hard for anyone to do and you did it well. Will you be making a ranged DPS comparison video as well? I've been healing/tanking for 10 years now and want to make the leap, but I want it to fit before I commit.
Did your bromance with Bay get stronger with your gushing over Enh? ;) I'm conflicted between frost DK and Shadow Priest for Legion, so I'm really looking forward to what you have to say about Shadow. Great video.
Please, could you review the Brewmaster Monk now that the changes appear to be definitive? I'd love to hear your opinion on regards of this specs performance in the Legion Beta, knowing that it was excluded from your tank ranking video back in the day :) Thank you very much, love your videos :D
Just a question for anyone who has played the beta, does the artifact weapon make the classes play a little faster, especially on the melee side cause with patch 7 the classes specifically melee seem to play just a tad slower so will the artifact fill in for that slight gap?
In general yes, and although I haven't played all melee specs enough to know if this is true for all of them, for many classes (such as Arms Warrior) the artifact ability helps fill in some of the gaps and speed up the rotation.
Thank you Preach, I will still be leveling a pally, but more than likely as a tank. The new melee animations and sounds just make ALL of the classes so much more satisfying imo.
So the three classes I cant decide on are your top three, shaman, monk or dk. Shaman looks slightly more interesting to me but I don't know if I could give up having a tank. Did they do anything to improve DK mobility? I'd do feral main once again if it wasn't for the ae. It really did make dungeons just not fun to play.
Preach, would you say the changes to rogues would be deterring even to long time rogue players? I've mained mine since BC, but WW and Fury are looking mighty tempting...
Hey awesome video i'm happy with my class picks now, also do you think there are any changes to tanking since the previews video, if so can you make a update video :)
i rly appreciate the work u put in this video, helped me out alot since i stopped playing wow after 6 months of hfc and i'm now trying to find a proper class. i was wondering, does ur review include the legandary items and all the perks or is it the just the raw class gameplay. also, what do u think about the tier sets in regards to gameplay changes ?
You seem to be quite fond of the survival hunter in your preview video so why is it in the 'shit specs' section? I thought you would put it in the 'ok specs' part. Just curious to why you changed your mind on survival so quickly.
Really satisfied that enhance is at the top for you. I started playing one in WoD and was decently satisfied with it, but seeing the legion changes got me super hyped. Seeing that you enjoyed it makes me even more excited to play.
man i have to give you all my respects, i been watching you making vids on of since mop, and u still get me so fucking hyped for classes, and all tho i dont always agree with u you make some strong points, i know this is your opinion, but i like relying on it, and for me to have a ground point to go from is just amazing to me. i am going to main the windwalker monk, and thats based on your testing, b4 i had the beta to try it out for myself. ty again for making the vids apriciate it hope to see a lot more in legion keep it up man !
I love the quality of your videos, I just wish you played pvp because I can't find any people making videos about legion classes as high quality as yours judging them in the light of pvp
Hey man, just wanted to say thank you for putting in the time to explain your thoughts and views on the changes. I'm really torn between boosting a monk or a DK but i think i'll go for the DK based on how much fun it seemed in your video. Thanks again, you have earned a new subscriber.
Preach you going to do a ranged list like melee? I've seen people like Final boss ranged stuff but I feel you're better at getting the 'are they fun' side down. Currently playing Warlock and they look ok but melee's all look much cooler currently.
I'd already decided on my shaman as my main long ago. It's such a spectacle to behold. And like Preach with his dk, even if elemental becomes more effective than enhancement I will happily play it instead. The sound effects are just so good. The cracking thunder and the dull smack if lava. It feels powerful.
I main both Unholy Death knight and Enhancement Shaman, played more Enhancement so its my true main. Very happy with the changes to both of these specs, and looking forward to playing them in Legion!
are you going to be doing a video of all classes together comparing the best of all melee and ranged? dont know whether to go demo lock or DK first lol
Glad to hear the DK made the number one list on melee. Now I ave to ask was the frost DK more about it graphic spectacles and less on it mechanics? I am just wondering cause I am more of a mechanic person who does not care to much of flashy combat. While yes flashy combat is nice it gets boring for me real fast. So which one has a more indepth mechanic gameplay element Frost or Unholy?
I'm so happy with the changes to melee. I thought all dk specs were boring, spammy, just faceroll but this is utterly amazing! Good job Blizz and thank you, Preach for the hours and hours you've spent to bring us this joy
Question for those in the Beta: how much of your class do you actually use in Legion? How much variety is there in what you do based on what's going on in the fight? In other words, how much is just doing your rotation (be it single target or AoE) and how much do you actually use your utility abilities, like stuns, interrupts, CC, etc? Do you get a lot of opportunities to make the most of your class, or does it mostly boil down to how well you can DPS?
God man, I couldn't agree more with the Fury spot. As a Fury main in WoD (first time maining a DPS since Wrath) I had an absolute blast, but even with the few steps back that it has taken in the beta recently, I am still looking forward to maining one again. Preach, are you planning on maining as a DPS again on Legion?
Im sorry bout i find your comments about rogues completey wrong, Currently 13/13M with about 150 hours on beta at 110 as Assassination/sub With the removal of the exacute dispatch they did it to all classes, The bleeds are indeed the key about the spec but managing 3 bleeds with multiple cool downs is more enjoyable then spamming ambush within a RNG trinket proc. Assassination atm is so fluid an smooth to play in legion it dose lack in aoe dps but it is extremely strong in Single Target an Cleave/Council Fights, Aldo did you have rank 34 artifact to complete the spec? or was it just based on first golden ?
I've been so split between playing Rogue or Mage as a main recently, I thought I had decided on Rogue but having played both on the beta and now hearing your thoughts Preach I guess I'll have to wait to see the Ranged comparison to decide.
Preemptive "You're Welcome" :-)
Worst:
Retribution Paladin - 1:55
Survival Hunter - 3:02
Arms Warrior - 4:31
Rogue (All specs) - 6:05
Good:
Feral Druid - 8:02
Fury Warrior - 9:01
Havoc Demon Hunter - 10:42
Outstanding:
Enhancement Shaman - 12:38
Windwalker Monk - 13:48
Deathknight (Unholy and Frost) - 16:13
and here i am debating between monk and Shammy. Loved shammy for years, monk is growing on me and after seeing Preach's take on them it clicked for me when i was on the ptr. And I like all 3 specs of each and can comfortably play all 3 specs of each.
what do
Right there with you. I have been really loving Frost DKs for years but before that I was a hardcore Enhancement Shaman guy. So I am kind of stuck as well. LOL
so top are basicly classes that do mega aoe pressure and dmg ...
thank you, saved me 20 minutes. doesnt help me decide what to play at all. but at least i get to see the list
Play both.
had the same issue but was maining dk and will gladly stay that way:)
Lol same those are the two classes I'm stuck between right now argh
Ill sway it with this... everyone from soccer moms to supernerds are gonna have a DK, so go with Shammy, be a rebel
I'm having the same problem. I have played Shaman since I started the game back in WoTLK, I have enjoyed monk a lot in Pandaria and WoD, Dk's have never been my cup of tea, but they look so damn fun now. I'm really torn.
I knew maining a DK since Wrath would pay off eventually :p
What do you mean eventually? It was really good and has been pretty much every expansion :P esp blood.
Good does not mean fun
Zimquiz I guess: I mainly played blood as my alt specc and found it pretty interesting.
+grip7777 dk was so fun on wrath launch
Knights of Acherus, rejoice! Now it is our time to shine!
Guys, this is very opinion based dont choose what to main according to other peoples' opinion please.PTR is open for everyone. And it is there to test all specs.Test it on your own and find whats fun for you!Have a nice day.
how do you get into the PTR?
Not only does he disclaim that he also explains what he likes/dislikes in the videos. Taking his list as a starter is defintively valid if you don't want to waste hours on the ptr...
+Solanstusx thanks! years ago, I was on the PTR, but I forgot how to go back to it lol.
Please do remember that this is opinion. For example, I quite enjoyed most of the classes in his bottom list, but I didn't care for the stuff at the top of his list. Especially his no.1 pick, I just did not like it at all. On the other hand, I'll probably be maining Survival Hunter.
same for me, I enjoyed SV the most of all melee classes.I dont really need what preach seems to need in a spec
Oh god I can't WAIT for the caster video.
They give us Ashbringer, and then force us to leave the spec because they're making it so horribly unsatisfying to play.
...i like it....
its really not all bad. the talents may be boring compared to other classes, but to be fair, it was in wod too. the core playstyle hasnt changed that much, if you enjoyed ret in wod changes are you still do. besides its all opinion anyway :p
NamesAreForNerds crusade+justicar+wake combo just makes my cock tingle
I think the main problem with Ret is that the talents just don't bring a lot of gameplay. The only thing that really shakes things up and requires consideration as to when to use it is Crusade.
Weerknuffelbeer true but with some of the new changes you can now figure out "hmmm should i use zeal or greater judgement for aoe" plus you can choose either justicars vengeance a heavy hitting ability that also serves as a heal along with a great way to buff crusade stacks or a new mitigation or an aoe heal (personally i build to 5 hp then crusade in justicars then ashes into justicar for a ton of stacks quickly add that to the crusader strike talent you get really fast hits making you think "hmmm is zeal now better than judgement or would that still be better because i have 5 targets?"
you can also pull a boss then have divine intervention proc into holy wrath
or you can go full crit build and use the blade of wrath talent
play what YOU like...this is just his opinion. Am warrior for life...
yeah no shit, he literally said that at the start of the video
+rano rando....you could make a comment with being an MAJOR "A" HOLE....
Fuck yeah Arms warriors represent
It'll probably get a damage nerf but I'm really enjoying Prot pally atm
hes not really being one but okay....
You`re right about #1, they feel so fucking good to play on any spec and the rotations are amazing, plus those sick animations.
Very different than i thought it would be, when comparing to your individual-spec videos
why does blizzard hate ret!?!?!
he does not like game play ....i recon ret will be at first 3 places in dps rank
I can concur. I have a main ret in my guild. The damage is there, but the gameplay isn't, from what he said.
nah bro i beat a ret lvl110 in 820 ilvl in a dungeon as a lvl103 ww 719 ilvl, SINGLE TARGET cause ww is crazy in aoe
Depends on the nummbers....they can make it the strongest OR the weakest
Apart from beta numbers being pretty much irrelevant, you can never underestimate how influential player skill is. I have seen people with ridiculous Gear that still couldn't pull decent DPS to save their life
Is the range comparison coming soon ? Videos are great .
Well if you use that thing you call a brain, You'd work out it will probably come out after all the final looks of range? DUH!
Are you alright?
Great content, I really appreciate the effort you put into supporting the community, I think I've watched all the class previews since starting in MoP to learn what was for me
I hate that since Wrath they've made Paladins worse and worse to play. Unfortunately I love my paladin and will never be able to not main him.
I love WoD and MoP ret paladin. While I did enjoy Wrath ret I don't think I'd count either of these variants as "worse to play."
Legion on the other hand I dislike ret immensely.
Nick Marshman Cata was fucking pitiful, MoP got a little better, then WoD was realistically decent, now we are back to wtf this shit is.
ThePatriotChris Oh cata was horrible which is why I didn't include it. The sheer downtime was atrocious. There isn't that much downtime in legion but it still feels horrible and I can easily see why it was the worst melee spec on preach's list.
+Nick Marshman I completely agree with you there. I've really enjoyed Paladin, but in Legion they just look awful.
"first of the first the paladin" i cried there :/ rip main :'(
Hey man, Don't give up so easily on you main, Get on the PTR and try it, It's only preaches opinion. You still might enjoy it :)
for pve I felt that ret was very fluid and smooth now. it just sucks for pvp because of zero mobility.
#feelsbadman
#idditfeelsrealyrealybad
You don't actually listen to Preacher when it comes to enjoyment, do you? He's like a woman, even he doesn't know what he wants.
I just dont get it, i found Ret Paladin to be so damn fun! nearly everything he said i disagreed with in regards to the ret pally, i really think im maining it for legion!
+Tyler Willson yup im maining assassination. im bot gonna changw my mind cause of a preach vid lol. just good to see his point of view
he said likes the wod ret pally but hates the legion ret pally. im the exact opposite.
10 thousand comment copy probably, but ranged/tank class coverage in the same manner expected?
He already did tank. Healer/ranged coming
when is the healer comming
cause I really wonna hear about holadin
doesnt fit as i thought
something is messed up
He already did tank but he said that he's probably take another look since that was in alpha
Preach said on stream that healers would be next up, so you can expect the series to start after he's back from his holiday.
"Big dick dps" xD lol!
Though here I sit not being able to ever play wow, due to my 3rd world country.
Same here! I dropped my DK in WoD and got into Combat Rogue a lot, loved Combat Rogue. Not feeling Outlaw as much and I have been reeeally enjoying Frost DK, very satisfying and fun to play so far.
Sad to hear about Ret and Outlaw, but stoked for Unholy, Enhancement and Fury.
+mymanmitch1096 Indeed. Never leveled a Monk but the artifact seems awesome.
Artifact looks pretty bad, and the ability is just a generic cleave ability
+John Doe Meant the idea of Fists of the Windlord. Elemental Lord power, yo.
+Tyler Willson I know they changed Jolly Roger and I think they nerfed True Bearing, fixing a problem for a lot of people playing the spec.
Death and Decay
More like Death and DK
Great video as always Preach, really appreciate the time and work you put into this!
Wow a lot of these must have changed since your full preview, you gushed over ret sad to see it is suddenly the worst.
i was thinking the same thing. pretty sure i remember him really liking ret in the video, well at least, it wasnt the "worst of the worst" lol
Sad times :(
He also said Arms has few interesting gamestyles and now he is bashing it...
Looks like someone at Blizzard took over the Tigole's legacy and made ret boring crap again.
Nope, fuck that shiet
I even love it in PvE
I get you're on vacation preach, and I have literally nothing against ya, just wanted to let these guys know "what's bad for me" doesn't mean they'll hate it too. >.>
do you have a video like this for casters/ ranged dps?
When your main is the first in the bad group =(
Well this is very much his opinion rather important to know that, what preach perhaps cant stand others might think is fine.
thank goodness I also have a DK as a backup, and will probably use my /100 on a shammy! Pally was also the lowest on his tanking comparison as well. Wondering how the healing is going to rank. lol
+Pontus mattsson I appreciate that, just a little disheartening.
Xraxic I very much think you should try it yourself and then get an opinion on the classes and not only go on what he thinks.
Worse class to play... But ret will still be in top 5 dps of Legion lol
Was a main rogue in WoD, and boy am I salty. At least priest and lock looks cool
oh and DK
But rouge is very cool I think
same, hoping for some minor tweaks to the rogue because i dont want to throw my rogue away after 10~ years
Saaame here.
I like the subt rogue. The idea of being an edgelord with shadow magic is cool, and it still retains the fundamentals of WoD subt but with just a faster playstyle since you have three short Shadow Dances rather than one big Shadow Dance.
Priest does look cool, as long as you aren't looking to be disc lol
i am loving my survival hunter, great video again Preach! hope Legion will bring you alot of fun! :D
Meanwhile arms is getting access to much more flexible and controllable sources of both pressure and burst with talents like Focused Raged and MortalCombo while still having defensive stance.
not knowing about the 300% haste fury warrior build.
I played fury warrior on the alpha pvp realm and it used to self-heal a shitton to make up for the 30% more damage taken
play arms.
Thanks for the vid!
preach dk confirmed???
possibly shaman imo with the ability to switch between ranged and melee dps
Everytime he confirms his main prior to a new expansion launch, he changes his mind couple months into it.
A question about the Warrior, back in WoD I wanted to roll a Warrior just for the Gladiator stance, Protection was absolutely a blast for me so I thought Gladiator Stance would make It even better, but I notice It's missing from the Protection Talent tree. Does that mean It's done for?
where the warlock !!!!
What part of "melee" didn't you get, dunce?
Its joke from the wod video
Hahaha #rekT!
The Metamorphosis Demonology Warlock was right in the middle of this video. It was cool in one specific spec, but the other talents weren't very fun, according to Preach.
melee m8
You posted a video back in March singing the praises of the Ret paladin - what changed that put them at the bottom of the barrel?
Sorry Preach but the WoD Ret Paladin is quite literally complete garbage and the changes now are much better.
Also people abandoning specs because of prepatch balance and early beta balance is hilarious. Half of these "fun" specs are going to be bashed with hammers once Blizz starts getting live raid data
Its both cute and sad seeing enhance shamans getting so excited as if they're unaware of how Blizzard hates shamans and how enhance is probably going to be dumpstered 3 weeks into the expansion
WoD Ret Pally = Whack a Mole
It's a called a priority system, some players don't like them, that's okay. A lot of players however do.
what's interesting is WoD ret is very rng on procs and I thought preach hated rng, legion is very much use abilities to charge up holy power and then use your big fuck off spenders, It's not restricted by too much rng proccing and I find it quite fun. A lot of classes work the same he likes ww monk but it's the same as ret pally. I just don't get his analysis. This video is super negative and it really doesn't help when it's meant to be a comparison between the classes not between what's bad about all the classes.
I think many raiders who raid hardcore for hours get mind-meltingly bored with the Rogue-style, 1-1-1-1-1-2 "big fuck off spender" gameplay
Agreed. I think its much better to reset the base of Ret AWAY from Set Bonuses and RNG Proc Priority. It's a good start IMHO.
Yay Paladin First!.... oh wait.
I fucking love these class comparison videos. Helped me decide to main a mage in WoD, and my "main alt" being a Blood/Unh DK.
I am really excited for the Havoc spec and I'm rather glad you enjoyed it too, Preach :)
Will you be making the same kind of video for ranged dps classes?
Did your bromance with Bay get stronger with your gushing over Enh? ;)
I'm conflicted between frost DK and Shadow Priest for Legion, so I'm really looking forward to what you have to say about Shadow. Great video.
Will you be doing a caster/tanks/healing version of this as well?
Thanks Preach. Cannot wait for the caster comparison!
Did you do a complete preview of the frost DK except for this? I can't find it on your channel. Anyways, awesome series as always Preach!
Please, could you review the Brewmaster Monk now that the changes appear to be definitive?
I'd love to hear your opinion on regards of this specs performance in the Legion Beta, knowing that it was excluded from your tank ranking video back in the day :)
Thank you very much, love your videos :D
What is the background music called? Like at 2:25. Plz
Is that Grid on the left? What addon is the healthbar below your character? :)
Are you going to be doing a vid for Tanks, ranged dps, and healers?
Thank you Preach, I will still be leveling a pally, but more than likely as a tank. The new melee animations and sounds just make ALL of the classes so much more satisfying imo.
So the three classes I cant decide on are your top three, shaman, monk or dk. Shaman looks slightly more interesting to me but I don't know if I could give up having a tank. Did they do anything to improve DK mobility? I'd do feral main once again if it wasn't for the ae. It really did make dungeons just not fun to play.
hello preach very good video bro :) Let me ask something: is the casters version coming anytime soon or u wont do it?
Preach, would you say the changes to rogues would be deterring even to long time rogue players? I've mained mine since BC, but WW and Fury are looking mighty tempting...
Hey awesome video i'm happy with my class picks now, also do you think there are any changes to tanking since the previews video, if so can you make a update video :)
is there a ranged version of this video or are you making it later? not sure if i missed it
Hey Preach, of the 3 rogues, which one did you have the most fun with?
Hey Preach, are you going to do range as well? Although I'm pretty much set on Spriest or UDK, I like the input. Keep it up!
Can some one link his main character? I'm having trouble finding it. Thanks in advance!
i rly appreciate the work u put in this video, helped me out alot since i stopped playing wow after 6 months of hfc and i'm now trying to find a proper class. i was wondering, does ur review include the legandary items and all the perks or is it the just the raw class gameplay. also, what do u think about the tier sets in regards to gameplay changes ?
Navigation for the different classes and speccs:
1:56 - Ret Paladin
3:02 - Survival Hunter
4:33 - Arms Warrior
6:04 - Rogue (in general)
8:01 - Feral Druid
9:03 - Fury Warrior
10:43 - Havoc Demon Hunter
12:40 - Enhancement Shaman
13:49 - Windwalker Monk
16:23 - Death Knight (in general)
Legion hype!!
You seem to be quite fond of the survival hunter in your preview video so why is it in the 'shit specs' section? I thought you would put it in the 'ok specs' part. Just curious to why you changed your mind on survival so quickly.
Great video man really is helping me decide what class to play
Preacher, is the healer comparison coming soon? Wanted to know your thoughts about it :)
Really satisfied that enhance is at the top for you. I started playing one in WoD and was decently satisfied with it, but seeing the legion changes got me super hyped. Seeing that you enjoyed it makes me even more excited to play.
will you be doing a ranged comparison for legion video (preferably ELE shaman)
man i have to give you all my respects, i been watching you making vids on of since mop, and u still get me so fucking hyped for classes, and all tho i dont always agree with u you make some strong points, i know this is your opinion, but i like relying on it, and for me to have a ground point to go from is just amazing to me.
i am going to main the windwalker monk, and thats based on your testing, b4 i had the beta to try it out for myself.
ty again for making the vids apriciate it hope to see a lot more in legion keep it up man !
I love the quality of your videos, I just wish you played pvp because I can't find any people making videos about legion classes as high quality as yours judging them in the light of pvp
Hey, great video. Will you make a range dps comparison?
Hey man, just wanted to say thank you for putting in the time to explain your thoughts and views on the changes. I'm really torn between boosting a monk or a DK but i think i'll go for the DK based on how much fun it seemed in your video. Thanks again, you have earned a new subscriber.
Preach you going to do a ranged list like melee? I've seen people like Final boss ranged stuff but I feel you're better at getting the 'are they fun' side down. Currently playing Warlock and they look ok but melee's all look much cooler currently.
I've wanted to play a death knight in legion but I don't know if I can adjust from having the mobility of a rogue to the mobility of a DK.
Are you doing a similar video for the tanks mate?
I'd already decided on my shaman as my main long ago. It's such a spectacle to behold. And like Preach with his dk, even if elemental becomes more effective than enhancement I will happily play it instead. The sound effects are just so good. The cracking thunder and the dull smack if lava. It feels powerful.
I main both Unholy Death knight and Enhancement Shaman, played more Enhancement so its my true main. Very happy with the changes to both of these specs, and looking forward to playing them in Legion!
Hey mates, what is the addon called to display the debuffs right at the enemies name plate? Would be great to know for a few classes.
nice video keep them coming!! cant wait for the ranged classes!
are you going to be doing a video of all classes together comparing the best of all melee and ranged? dont know whether to go demo lock or DK first lol
Preach gonna do Ranged after? Any chance he is doing Tanks or Heals oir is there another Channel like his that is covering the non dps specs?
@preachgaming are we gonna get a caster version of this video anytime soon ?
When will ranged comparison be out?
Would arms warriors be better if Colossus Smash stopped being a factor during the execute phase?
Been waiting for a video like this for awhile
Great video, can't wait to see the caster one. Currently in process of trying to main a balanced Druid.
Are we going to be getting a Range version of this?
Yes, and healing too.
Nice video Preach! Very informative stuff.
As always, awesome video preach.
