I currently have a Sony Bravia XBR-43X800E that has a Picture Off feature (and a corresponding Pic Off button on the remote) that turns the picture off while the TV and sound remain on. Does the A80J have this feature? The images I have seen of the A80J remote show that it does not have a Pic Off button.
@@reviewforthetube6485 - yes thanks to the generous return policy. I think it is worth the extra cash. Based on my iPhone 12 max, I would not even worry about burn in and I love the colours and the saturation of the oled display so I think I am good to go
@@glichasasha750 yeah for sure it's a much much better display we are talking Gan entire league above the x90j and the a80j oled is brighter then past Sony oled tvs even if the measurements don't show much of a difference during actual content it is brighter then my c9 is which is pretty damn good

On my A80j sony tv While playing high quality 4k blueray content via pendrive (.m2ts format) the video is not playing smoothly,, like buffering after every 5 secs!!!! Any idea why ???
@Richard Myers It was in regards to the built in TV tuner. This uses an ATSC 3.0 tuner which will be able to pull in over-the-air 4K television broadcasts through an antenna once they are available. Thanks for watching!

My feelings exactly! My cable DVR box is only 1080i, and I am probably like you in that 70 percent of my TV viewing comes from the cable box. What other reviewers say about this TV is that SDR upscaling to 4K looks really good compared to other lower priced TV's. Then there is the issue of 24p judder. This high priced TV supposedly is able to almost completely eliminate motion artifacts like judder, but at a cost of lessoning other important picture qualities.

A90J review on rtings.com. It's review on hdtvtest yt channel. As for the comparison, we're all waiting. :) For a bright room, they'll both still suck, especially in SDR. Where the extra brightness on A90J will definitely be noticeable is in night/dark room hdr content. It'll have a overall greater HDR impact as can be seen in hdtvtest's video. Whichever has the new LG evo panel is the better choice. That panel makes all the difference imo. It's brighter and more efficient so better picture quality and lower risk of burn in! If it's actually true that both of them are using the new evo panel, I wouldn't mind recommending the A80J at all. The A90J will always remain the better one though since it has that heat sink...
@@josaphcj7199 Well c1 has the exact same panel as the cx, so it's not surprising. G1 has the evo, and that's definitely better, although not by much. You can read/watch it's review of avforums. And yeah all oled's suck for sdr content and normal TV viewing dude, LCD's just get a lot brighter. This is a universal opinion, not mine uniquely. Also if say the A80J has the same brightness as c1,cx,etc but it's confirmed that it's using the evo panel, that would mean it's using less power, getting less hot and thus has a lower risk of burn in and probably a relatively relaxed ABL, which are still huge pluses.
The so called soundbar position stand, isn't wide enough to put a popular soundbar like the Sonos Arc or other bigger Atmos soundbars between it. Maybe 1 or 2 tailor made sony soundbars in there line up, or a weak Sonos Beam. That means that you only have the option to put it in front of the legs witch means you always see cables and doesn't make for a clean and flush setup unfortunately.........
I agree that this is a bit of a bummer, although thankfully my AV rack will be just deep enough to put my JBL 9.1 in front of the 65in A80J... I'm guessing SONY is using the same back panel on all the different A80J sizes to save on cost, because the width of the feet doesen't go up with model size and is always the same... 🤷♂️
I ADORE MY SONY 65" A90J OLED AND IT'S THE BRIGHTEST OUT OF THE BOX AND NO NEED OF CALIBRATION...WORTH EVERY PENNY $4K FOR THE ULTIMATE 4K UHD OLED #BRIGHTEST #MASTERPIECE #XR
I don't see Bravia core being better than 4k bluray as picture quality I have several movie's like the rings that get up to a 120 and average stays in the 90's as far as bit rate and doesn't have to really on data caps from internet companies.
why not? It's all about bandwidth... IIRC Ultra HD Blu-Ray has a bandwidth limit of ~60mbps.... so if you can stream over the internet at above 60mbps, and the source can send the data at over 60mbps, then you should get the same or higher quality than HD Blu-Ray. Now we just need to get those greedy a-holes ISP's to remove their low-end data caps. 😒

These measurements are from diagrams published by SONY. Try to do a search on Google images for "A80J dimensions". Hope this helps... 👍

Hey the a80j DOES have a center speaker in, they just aren't terminals, looks like an 1/8" so probably could use the pre out of an avr

Why would you think it’s better than a physical disc 🤔 The improvement here is vs Netflix and other streaming services that are around 20 or less Mb
