I don’t think the Cal/Nate thing is meant to be literal. I think it’s a metaphor for how much power Cal has over Nate, while also commenting on their sexuality.
@@longarmoftheOOHLALA no. the scene wasn’t a literal representation of reality or the past. it was metaphorical. it was a nightmare (dream), not a memory. in it, nate was doing to cassie what he saw cal do to jules on that disc. everything he’s seen his father do in those videos is in his subconscious along with whatever emotions (trauma) that seeing his father that way has brought up. not to mention doubts or questions he may be having about his own sexuality.

With how nervous he is, there's no way he's that late on purpose, he definitely knows what time it starts. I think all that happened before the play. That would explain why Lexi is upset(she must've seen his message), and we'll probably see why he's not there in part 2.

Cassie's character arc does make sense, her people-pleasing started with her dad, she thinks if she was a better daughter her dad would stay, her relationship with Nate is a reply to her relationship with her dad, she thinks if she becomes everything he wants he won't leave her, and not to mention Nate is a tall white man with brown hair who is also a terrible person.
Nate is not the 1st guy she has been with that has done her wrong. He’s not the 1st she has attached herself to, he’s not the 1st she has become obsessed with. Sis is just a thirsty chick looking for men validation
I agree! Knowing Cassie's trauma doesn't excuse her actions, but helps us to understand why she does the things she has this season.

And there's that thing that she just had an a*ortion and not thinking straight, but they also don't really mention it so I don't know if it played a part
I just don't get when people say Lexi shouldn't have taken from everyone else's story, she didn't. She took parts that involved and shaped her and gave her perspective on them and their effect on her.
Maddy's part? a tie in to her parents fighting, her broken family and how Maddy moving in made her like and respect Maddy. She even shows how she cares for Maddy due to her softer kinder side she showed her.
Rue's dad's funeral? Robert dying affected her too because she'd known Rue and her family for 8 years when he died and 12 years present day. Also a parallel to how Lexi lost her dad to his addiction while Rue lost hers to death.
and her seeing her best friend lost like that affected how she sees her worth. She feels she can't provide comfort and love thats enough for anyone. Explains WHY she tries so hard with Rue because she made her feel okay about not being cool and that she understands how they dealt with their trauma in different ways (drugs for Rue, retreating further into herself for her)
Nate's locker scene? she didn't call HIM gay, she commented on the homoerotic and toxic masculinity surrounding jocks and considering hes the big man on campus, him being at the forefront isn't outlandish. (also, she knows how he abused Maddy so a little bit of it was definitely revenge for her 'friend')
She also sent Rue a copy of the play, did Rue read it? no but the person who was secondly most included DID have a copy of the play sent to her.
She wrote HER experiences and how they shaped HER. Its her version of the narration Rue gives of everyone else's lives only told by her because she "doesn't like not being in control" of her brain, like she says in the play.
The problem is that Lexi took the events from other people's lives and made it obvious who the characters In the play are based on. If she wasn't going to change the details and events from other lives, then she should of at least asked for their consent.
Regarding the locker room scene, Ethan had on the same scar that Nate has. If she was only talking about toxic masculinity in jocks, then I don't see why she had to make Nate the main focus of the scene. Whether it was intentional or not, Lexi is implying to the audience that Nate is gay. You can even see students in the audience staring at Nate weirdly because they know it's about him. I don't like Nate, but outing someone's sexuality isn't okay.

Cal did not molest Nate. Narratively it makes no sense to revel that this late in the story. We were watching Nates nightmares and how he sees the parallels between him and his father which is his worst fear.

@@RukiyaReacts Same, as a member of the LGBT community I definitely have compassion for men who live on the DL as most of them are forced into secrecy by their environments, There’s hope for Nate I believe but it’s gonna take some serious self reflection and taking responsibility for all the people he’s hurt and manipulated. And tbh I’m happy for Cal I hope he can begin healing and thus maybe he can help Nate not follow his path. The main thing this show teaches is that Hurt people, hurt people. Great reactions btw ❤️

I really hope Fez and Ash are ok. The preview for next week showed both Fez on the ground yelling with the note for Lexi with blood on it and also him banging on what looks like the bathroom door yelling 'Ash' so who knows what is going to happen.
Cassie is going to go off and totally sabotage the play. I also feel like Nate's nightmare could be representing his dads power over him still even though he's gone but also potentially were flashbacks given that his mom said that a 'darkness came over him' around 8 or 9 which makes me feel for him but obviously not condone any of his behavior. Anyway, so excited (and sad) for the season finale next week!

Lexi and Fez are only ones that actually manage to destroy Nate by their own power after many episodes. i feel really bad for Maddy, she's so genuine. also i think Nate has *Oedipus Complex* but instead opposite sex of parent, the mom, he begin to view his dad as rival as well as sexual interest... i dont think Cal molested him bc he said he knew nothing about Nate and were sorry for messing him up with double life, not by molesting him (cus he would spill it that night when he reveal all familiy secrets)

I've seen a few reactors say this now and I really really feel that Cal DID NOT touch/molest Nate. Now I'm not defending him, honestly, but as far as we know, the only minor Cal was ever with was Jules, and that was unintentional because he believed her when she said she was 21 or 22 (his fault for not verifying, but that's another thing).
The thing with Nate, I feel is that he went from being the sweet little boy his mom mentions last episode, not because he was molested by his father, but because he saw his father's porn collection. He never wanted to be seen as weak or maybe feminine like the transgendered people or gay people his father was seen with. He probably looked down on those people for being so submissive, not understanding also that watching his father's collection was, unfortunately, his sexual awakening. So now he has to adopt this hypermasculine persona and overcompensate to not be seen as weak, and he can't admit that he's not straight either because that would shatter his whole facade. Also, Nate never likes not being in control of a situation, we see that in episode 8 of S1 when he fights with his dad and he starts banging his head against the floor. To him, he probably felt that he was weak....that he submitted, and it made him no better than the people his father had slept with. So that also lends itself to his internal homophobia.
So, the scene with Cal and Nate here, kinda symbolizes the fact that Cal still has control over Nate, even though he's physically left the house. He's become the exact thing he didn't want to be, and this is further shown when he mimics how Cal had sex with Jules. Cal is too deep inside of Nate's mind....he can't escape, inevitably because Cal is a part of him.
For Cassie being crazier that’s partially true as Maddy wouldn’t have done what she did and has more self respect. Next Cassie may be crazy but she knows Maddy is dangerous so I’m pretty sure Cassie is angry at Lexi who isn’t like Maddy.
I agree! It's way easier for Cassie to mistreat Lexi to her face because Cassie knows she won't fight back. But Maddy on the other hand will lol

Nate is abusive, manipulative, cruel, a bully, but Lexi's main response to him was, but youre GAY! But the rest of the school seemed to love it - Nate probably tortured all of them at some point, & calling him "gay" really hit him where it hurts bc of his mindset & bc of how teenagers are.

Literally she is crazier!!!! I agree 100%! Just because she was crying doesn’t make her less crazy. They make fun of Cassie for crying but they would probably cry if that happened to them. Also I agree again, when you said she wants love but doesn’t see she is loved by her family and friends but at the same time I can understand her wanting more cause that doesn’t seem enough like of course you’re friends and family are going to love, they have too. Love from a significant other is totally different.
It's so sad seeing her constantly chase love and change herself for a toxic guy. But I agree, love from a significant other is different. I hope in S3 Cassie goes to therapy and deals with her trauma.
Honestly, it doesnt even look like she gets it from the people around get that much. Her sister aired her most humiliating moments while her mom watched and giggled. Both unreliable. And as for Maddie, I don't know too much about her relationship with Cassie but I don't think she's the type of person to be good at emotional support.

I like how on this second season some characters "hold" their participation/crazyness throughout the episodes and then totally explode, Ethan, Lexi and Bobbie exploded on this one, Rue did on ep5 and Cal did it on I think ep4

I feel like Nate going to continue the “family business” his dad was talking about. The “family business” would be the TAPES ! that’s why you see in the episode he go to Maddie house trying to “shoot” his self they show a lot of “hidden cameras”. - Cal and Nate situation in my opinion is not Literal. I don't believe Cal touched him. But because Nate shifted around 8 or 9 yo (age were we are more aware of ourselves and our surroundings). Which actually lead me to believe that NATE is actually in love with his father! 😏 I know crazy right ? But makes sense considering that Nate is deeply troubled. But let me back this up:
Remember in all Nate Dreams or daydream Cal is consistently present. Which does not make sense knowing what we know of Nate "he hates his dad" but what do we say about love & hate again ? 🤔 Hmm ... Exactly! Moreover Nate hates his brother and we don't see him in any of his dream or fantasies, he also loves his mum where is she in the dreams or fantasies? Nowhere exactly!
To that you add how Nate was happy when his father left home. It was literally torture for him to have his dad taunting him all the time, "out of sight out of mind" maddie s2 episode 3.
Last but not least we found in this episode that NATE goes as far as replicating the scene he saw between Jules an Cal wishing to play Jules at the moment. Knowing how Nate find the videos at 11 yo and went back to watch them since then (that's how he found out about Jules remember?). Ok I'm done bye
