I google why James was so obsessed with Bella and basically when he was a human he was one of the best hunters ever. He could track a single deer just by prints and instinct. That hunting became his vampire ability and got even stronger and became his passion. He basically smelt Bella liked how she smelt and also liked the reaction Edward had (how protective he was to Bella) and decided that she would make good hunting and would be a challenge.
I never watched the twilight movies & I definitely haven’t read the books. However, I’ve always wondered why the Cullens attended high school. If Edward is over 100 years old, this wouldn’t be his first time in high school. Does he just never graduate? And if the Cullens wanted to keep their vampire status a secret why would they attend any type of school at all and risk being exposed?
Edward has graduated many times and re-starts high school, which brings up the question of its the same high school or how that works. In their home, he has an art display of all the graduation caps he’s received

This can be easily attributed to the fact that Bella had a horrible childhood: Her parents divorced when she was a child and had to live with her mother Reneé, who was more concerned about living the high life rather than actually caring about her daughter. Bella spent her life being invisible and being taught that her needs didn't matter, as she had to practically raise herself and her mother and had no friends to speak of in Phoenix.
With an absent father and neglectful mother, it's easy to see why she would behave that way.

In slight defense of Kristen Stewarts acting, I'm fairly confident that Kristen in an interview or something said she'd never read the books, and based off the script, she felt Bella was kinda boring... She wasn't wrong, and thus that is exactly what we got.
Also people forget that these movies tend to have a director....I tend to blame bad acting on bad directing.
I actually wrote an alternate ending to Twilight where everyone dies as a school project. It's still my favorite piece of writing.

I google why James was so obsessed with Bella and basically when he was a human he was one of the best hunters ever. He could track a single deer just by prints and instinct. That hunting became his vampire ability and got even stronger and became his passion. He basically smelt Bella liked how she smelt and also liked the reaction Edward had (how protective he was to Bella) and decided that she would make good hunting and would be a challenge.

I never watched the twilight movies & I definitely haven’t read the books. However, I’ve always wondered why the Cullens attended high school. If Edward is over 100 years old, this wouldn’t be his first time in high school. Does he just never graduate? And if the Cullens wanted to keep their vampire status a secret why would they attend any type of school at all and risk being exposed?
Edward has graduated many times and re-starts high school, which brings up the question of its the same high school or how that works. In their home, he has an art display of all the graduation caps he’s received

So if he re-enters after he graduates wouldn’t the teachers recognize him or wouldn’t people who graduated with him 50 years ago be suspicious that he looks exactly the same? Again maybe they explain this in the books or in the movies but it seems like a pretty big plot hole to me.
