I think Silver sees a lot of himself in Jim. Young, restless, without a proper course in life. By stepping into the fatherly role, I think he was trying to subconsciously steer Jim in a different and better direction than the one he chose. As he so wisely said. "You give up a few things, chasing a dream.."

this is one of my favourite movies of all time and a was purely a labour of love so im glad you enjoyed it (the creators had to make 3 banger movies, including Aladdin before they were allowed to make this movie which they kept asking to do but were told time and time again "do another successful film with us and you can")
also interestingly they had a rule for mixing space stuff and pirate stuff so it didn't feel too jarring, it was supposed to be 70 percent pirate 30 percent space which is shown chiefly in john silver who is about 30 percent machine, and also they had similar ideas with how much cgi to use to stop it from feeling jarring.

I found the mix between pirates and space inspired! Very well done and it combines two thinks that we enjoy watching!
Thanks for sharing that bit about the creators, we can so feel it was done with love, the best movies are!

Treasure Planet and Atlantis were really unsuccessful, I think I heard it was partly due to bad marketing on Disney's part. That's why it's not as well-known, talked about, and/or referenced.
    6:25 - That's what she said... 😏

So you two kept askinh why did he take all that treasure answer is to make a legacy for himself what if he was the first pirate to loot that many worlds and get away with it Capt Flint made himself a Legacy that would of remained hidden had Jim not goyten the map open heck if Jim wanted he could proudly say that he found Treasure planet that would be Jims legacy also The captain of The Legacy didnt hire the crew it was Dobbler that did as for those laser beam things i can only guess but perhaps they keep the planets core nice and warm or keep it rotating so the planet doesnt lose its atmosphere idk or maybe they went with giant pasers cause lasers are cool

Flint is such a comically petty guy but I still love this movie.

Hello, check out a movie called, 1492: Conquest of Paradise.
Adventure/Drama (1992). It stars Gérard Depardieu, Siqourney Weaver, Armante Assante. It portrays a version of the travels to the New World by the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and the effect this had on indigenous peoples.
Directed by Ridley Scott. Thank you, Chris.
