You’re in some ways totally right but speaking from experience as a 20 year old addict who spent a lot of their teen years in mental health hospitals (and on occasion running away from them 😬) The amount of total desperation causes a certain type of adrenaline that, while can’t be maintained for long periods of time, gives an amount of strength and stamina in the moment that far outdoes your usual capabilities. It seems ridiculous for outsiders looking in, but it really is that the entire world you built to keep ‘safe’ is being torn away from you. That makes people do some crazy things
… I never trusted Elliot from the start… he’s literally the only character we know nothing about… we don’t know his motives or his connection to the characters… I get the feeling he’ll die for some reason

I agree on some shows have too many seasons, but i think season 3 should happen for Euphoria, and maybe that should be the final season. But knowing HBO, there will probably be at least 4 seasons

@@evlinboo9071 almost every episode is over an hour long. Like a mini movie. I don't think they'll ever do more than 10 episodes. Dynasty is not that technical and each episode not as detailed.

Also, I just realized it, but the Howards and the Bennetts have similar dynamics and issues. Father gone. Substance abuse. A child brings so much drama and another that is relegated to living in the shadow and having to be mature beyond their years.

regarding elliot's comment about missing the old rue, i feel that that is how most people feel when dealing with different kinds of drug addicts. it's all fun and games when you're high with your friends, having deep conversations, playing guitar, and dancing in your bedroom. but no one wants to deal with the girl who is vomiting, kicking, screaming, and insulting people, on the verge of an overdose. elliot didn't know the latter, he only knew the "chill" rue for all of five minutes. regardless of whether or not it was his place to be there, people online are hung up on this comment as if they wouldn't feel the same in that situation. people are cool with rue but will stand five feet away from someone like faye. that's how it is in real life.
people turned on rue so quickly when she showed the ugly side of her addiction. they thought she was doing too much, being a horrible person, and the like. they liked rue when she was just awkward and "calm" while she was high. they don't like her now that she is physically and verbally assaulting the people closest to her. that is the same thing that elliot did, so his comment isn't really worthy of all the heat. although, it doesn't help that we know very little about him. he is just a plot device for whatever reason.
anyway, as far as the show has shown, elliot isn't some evil mastermind. he is just a messy kid like the rest of them, for better and worse. he didn't seek out jules and rue. rue approached him first when he was high, and jules interrogated him with a spotlight, bringing him into the toxicity of their relationship. this doesn't mean he doesn't play his cards by being sneaky (complimenting jules and then asking if rue did the same), but he is sitting in the same tier as the others.
and there's another thing i noticed about the fanbase. people pick and choose which characters get to "hide" behind their trauma. people vehemently hate jules yet stan maddy, or they hate maddy but stan cassie. all of these characters have experienced traumas unique to them. no one is above anyone else and the slander is just too much. they are kids who are making dumb decisions. most of them are not devils. they all need to get psychological help and go from there so that they're not menaces to society when they're adults.
He’s not an evil mastermind but he’s still manipulative and toxic and encouraged rue to do drugs and is inserting himself into rue and jules relationship

I was shook too to see how Rue exposed Cassie..I didn't imagine it to unveil like that but then flashback to the time Rue saw them, the scene kinda lead to this point. I was hoping this to be revealed in Lexi's play though.
I didn't think that scene of Rue seeing them would have played a huge role. But I was greatly mistaken 😭😩
i saw a tweet about how "an addict recognizes an addict" related with how lexi's mom immediately spotted how terribly rue was doing. unlike her gf, mom, other friends...
after all lexi's mom is an alcoholic herself. but also, when lexi's mom saw rue, rue was already going through withdrawls. so it was probably much easier to recognize how off she was

I think Elliot is a functioning addict who sees what he’s doing, kinda why he brought it up to jules. And was trynna whisper to rue in the car not to drink. He doesn’t make the right decisions because like rue. Is an addict. Just my 2 cents 🤟🏾

But at least Gia has a sweet mom that is sober, I'm sorry but Cassie and Lexis mom gives me "I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom" but not in a good way. So yeah they deserve way better.

I can understand Elliot’s perspective because by the looks of it, for the time being at least he has a good grasp on his drug use. Maybe we haven’t gotten a deep enough of a dive into his psyche or backstory but by the looks of it his wiring is simply not as dependant as Rue, probably having a lot to do with the fact that rue is getting high to escape her pain of the loss of her father, while Elliot just likes doing drugs for fun. So in his mind you should just be able to do drugs for fun & still function as a sober human being the next day like himself. But Rue is different. & the first glimpse of that he gets, he tells Jules the truth about their secret drug use
Honestly I agree! That's why I'm not too up in arms about his character because it reminded me of something Gia said about Rue not being like other addicts. Elliot is a "functioning" addict while Rue is the type to look for a moment of clarity that has her on the verge of death. Plus I don't think this is Rue's rock bottom. Like yeah she's further damaging and burning the bridges on the last relationships she has but I think something more would have to give for Rue to finally realize the consequences of her actions. Such as say Fez dying or her sister or mom getting hurt because of her idk at this point.
When I say I cried nonstop the first 20 mins. Rue was terrorizing this entire episode & it was hurtful to see. It’s literally so hard to remember that these are fictional characters sometimes. The acting is so freaking good.
Laurie was a set up from the get go that’s why she said I knew you were going to be in my life for a lng time think about it Laurie is much older and has been in this business she knows an addict when she sees one n she knew damn well Rue was not going to sell the drugs but do them she just figured she could make money from trafficking off her instead of Rue being one of her dealers and the reason for focusing on the morphine is because that’s an IV drug much harder drug than Rue has ever done. she doesn’t do needles up until this point.. she was planting track marks on her arm by sticking her repeatedly to make her look like a regular trafficking victim she was going to keep her sedated and Pimp her out basically but Rue escaped thank goodness, at least that’s my opinion and my view on it🤷🏾♀️
No I think there were multiple marks because she couldn’t get a vein. Plus she escaped for now. But I think she’ll be going back, unfortunately for that IV high now.

Laurie trying to traffick rue
I’ve posted this same comment a few times under other reactions because this Laurie scene is just so frightening. For people not reading between the lines or who think she’s helping or showing compassion towards Rue, she’s not! She wants to sell her and everything she’s said has been a hint to what her intentions are. Rue’s extremely vulnerable and in a lot of pain. The pain of withdrawal is like living hell. That’s why it’s so hard to get clean, you don’t just get a little sick, you feel like your skin is on fire and your being twisted from the inside out. You will do ANYTHING to get relief from that pain. Laurie is basically telling Rue that she no longer feels emotion, which is how she’s able to be a predator. She doesn’t feel guilt anymore. Laurie plays sweet but she’s purposely turning Rue into an IV drug user. She’s cleaning her up and telling her as a woman she still has something people want. She also tells Rue you aren’t in a state of mind where you are going to go make my money for me. Everything Laurie is doing points to one thing, she’s going to keep Rue high and sell her. I promise the day Rue came to her with the plan she knew Rue would mess up. When she said that she knew that first night they’d be in each other’s lives for awhile she had plans for Rue.
Although Rue escaped, that’s too easy. I still think Laurie is going to get to get to her.
A lot of people arent really catching onto it and its kinda scary to see. Innocence and Ignorance when it comes to the show. Laurie is a bad, bad woman and nobody should say otherwise

LITERALLY! People forgot Laurie initially offered Rue 40k worth of drugs. She knew she wouldn't be able to pay it back.
Laurie literally said, “I’ll have you kidnapped and sold to some really sick people. I’m serious.” Then has her drugged up and locked inside her house. I’m not sure how people are not understanding what is going on but it’s worrisome.
That blinking lamp in the hallway of Laurie's house is symbolically telling us things are about to get dark

That’s good to hear! Anything more than 3 or 4 seasons would start becoming too much.
I think they should stop at 4 seasons and go out with a bang! But it would be dope if they could do 6 seasons. They could bring in Gia’s cold open for season 3 premiere and get her point of view. They can start mixing in her journey through high school too. Maybe even start showing new teens (that are going through trauma and/or various addictions and have them placed in the background at places like parties, or school events etc). Then slowly bring them in as new faces in seasons 5&6 while the original teens start to leave or graduate.
I love Cassie‘s mom even though she’s an alcoholic she’s present and she’s there for her daughters.

That makes no sense. Jules says that they (her and Rue's mom) flushed them down the toilet, and she says that right in front of Rue's mom.
I don’t think he has it. I said, “why would Elliot let them flush it down the toilet” because Rue told him her plan of selling it. So it makes no sense that he wouldn’t tell Jules and her mom the plan too.

If he told Jules and Rue's mom about the suitcase, knowing Rue's on the hook for $10K for it, and her mom didn't just find it on her own from searching her room after they told her she was using again, then that it doubly messed up. I can't figure out what his motivation to do that would even be.

@@idontgiveafaboutyou I thought that too at first, but so many of the plot points and characters would be different (for better or worse). If they were in college where the sex, partying and drug use is less noticeable and maybe even considered normal (cause your seen as an “adult”), the show wouldn’t be as outlandish, maybe even less iconic. People will confront you more and challenge you in college (Nate’s behavior, Rue’s drug use, Jules would be legal if she’s 18, etc.) I think I would still like the show but the HS setting makes it more intimate, dramatic and even emotional imo.

I agree 100%! I also really liked how Jules handled the confrontation with Rue. Even though Rue was being hurtful at the moment, Jules knew it wasn't her true feelings speaking. She kept reminding Rue that she loves her. That’s the best way to act in an intense situation like that.

I'm not sure kidnapping Rue was Laurie's plan this ep. There was someone locked in that other room, right? So why didn't Laurie lock Rue up in the room too? Why let her roam around the house and let her escape? There are keys to the exit door just straight up chilling... I think Laurie locks the exit door before going to sleep cause she is a drug dealer, a criminal after all. Maybe she doesn't want her rivals to break in or junkies.
Also, Idk if anybody else mentioned this; I love that we FINALLY got a story that didn't involve full-frontal nudity and penises being shown. I was like, "Ohh... So you CAN write an actual story that doesn't involve any sort of sexual distraction??? Who knew??? MINDBLOWN!" 🤯

Amongst all the other UA-cam channels reacting to this show I find myself back here often. There are so many reaction channels that seem apathetic or numb to what's going on and it feels like they are procedural in how they going through the show. I feel that the whole point of shows like this is to embed and immerse yourself into what the writers/directors have crafed and what the crew/actors are trying to convey. Sometimes there's content to make you think but especially with a show like Euphoria, it's 90% emotion. It's nice to see someone react with emotion and not just analysis and actually empathize with what they're seeing, keep up the great work!
Thank you!❤️ I agree, this is an emotional show that touches difficult topics. All the characters are struggling with their traumas, so being empathetic is important to understand their actions and behaviours.
he's an addict. so elliot and rue did drugs together and he started to care about both of them. so he told bc he didn't like the path she was going down and he didn't like lying to jules. i honestly don't think he had an ulterior motive
I don't think it's bad that he told Rue. The timing just seems a bit odd. And I don't see why he would tell Jules and then let her flush Rues supply. He knew that Rue was going to sell it. I hope they were lying and didn't flush the substances or else Rue is going to be in huge trouble with Laurie.

1. Rue is my queen, but by no means do I condone her behavior, nor do I condone her behavior in this episode, but at the end of the day, Jules is a colossal hypocrite, and Elliot is one of the worst people on this show. Jules slept with Elliot after being worried about Rue, and Elliot was the one feeding her drugs and wanted to act like he was innocent. Nah, the two of them can both run off into the dumpster. As for Maddy, Cassie, and Nate... Maddy just needs to break both their asses. Laurie needs to go because she was gonna sell Rue into sex slavery and nothing against my sex workers, but I rather Rue hit the pole instead of the cookie.

I don’t understand how so many people are surprised that Elliot told or don’t know why he told literally the first time he met her she almost died and it’s only gotten worse and he even came clean that he was doing everything with her, so it’s not like he ratted her out and just try to deflect blame. I think the thing that didn’t sit right with him was the fact that he liked both Jules and rue but he would have been assisting rue with lying to Jules which regardless of what they did behind her back is still her gf. actually I think what elliot did with Jules put even more pressure on him to tell.
And had he and Jules shared that moment (then kissing) and then rue died while he knew what was going on it would’ve been worse
