God bless Paul Young the day I heard he died in the summer of 2000, My heart broke. what a wonderful man and a beautiful voice. These guys have been the soundtrack of my life.
Paul Carrack could sing the phone book or ingredients from a cereal box and make it sound inspired and soulful and Paul Young is sorely missed. His was an extremely gifted and underrated vocalist. His untimely death was a tragedy and great blow to the group.
This is amazing! One of the best Paul Carrack / Mike & Mechanics performance I have heard! I think it is later than '89 - I think it may be 1995 or even a bit later. Thanks for uploading!! :)
@@kaveman1021 Well, it was an unfinished "bit" meant for Genesis, but none of its members liked it except for Mike Rutherford, so Collins and Tony Banks allowed him to use it for the Mechanics, with some help adding to it.
@@ldolphin34 "A Call to Arms" was also NOT sung (lead) by either of the two Pauls (Carrack or Young). It was originally sung by Gene Stashuck. Both Gene Stashuck and John Kirby were dropped after this album.
songsfinallyuploaded Paul Carrack sings both the bridge and chorus with Gene singing verses only; as the most prominent, Paul Carrack is clearly the lead singer in Call To Arms.

Paul Carrack and Paul Young; a singing combo straight from the corriders of Heaven❤ Thank you😊
Maybe one of the most beautiful songs ever written.......Paul Carracks rendition is amazing‼️
Ya it is beautiful
When singers sung about something real
Who knew Phil Collins was involved in writing "A Call to Arms," give this comment a thumbs-up!
Another day has passed me by
And there's an island in the sun
To see me through
Another day in paradise
But there's no reason, there's no rhyme
Without you
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I've been
Waiting here for so long
I've been waiting here for so long
There's a time and there's a place
When we can share the silver night
Silent room
In my bed an empty space
Cos there's no other in my life
Only you
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I've been
Waiting here for so long
I've been waiting here for so long
Here comes the night
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I've been
Waiting here for so long
I've been waiting here for so long

One of the best ballads ever.
Thanks for uploading this! I know I heard this Par Avion sometime in my life and now I've heard it again!
Great Song... played in the TV Serie Miami Vice
Haunting scene.
Yankee Dollar was the name of the Miami Vice episode.

Hermosa cancion, con la increible voz de Paul Carrack.
"Par Avion" originally sung by John Kirby.

Well said
Seamusin yes!
I shuck Paul Young’s hand then he was gone , long rule SadCafe
The ORIGINAL singer of this song is even more underrated than Mr. Paul Carrack.
never heard this live version. this is so beautiful! (par Avion
Wow!! Thanks for sharing this jewel!!!i love mike and tbe mechanics
They played the fuck out of that song! Sorry for my french but that was a hell of a performance on Par Avion.

Wow, this is beautiful. Two of my favorite tracks from a great band. Thanks for finding and uploading!
Andrea I heard Eric clapton going to it on Noalabbies
Like B17 c7 loved --that song years ago
I've been searching for a long time for this brilliant album I'm everso pleased to find it here thanks for putting it available
Carrick singing Par Avion, perfection!
I used to have this on repeat when I first bought it 30 years ago thought I could sing like Paul carrack
The original studio (album) version is John Kirby, NOT Paul Carrack nor the late great Paul Young.
All time song... So beautiful!
Wow this is a great version of this song. Very beautiful.
Hermoso tema
Excelenteeee, grandioso, mágico!!!!
Great song...
Long lost song

A really beautiful song
Dave van den Berg
Uplifting genius RIPPaul
+Marian Cox Paul Young is not dead.
+Rick Dutkiewicz he was Mike and the Mechanics Paul Young; lesser known but a far better voice than the one who is making a comeback now.
@@rickdutkiewicz8807the Mike and the Mechanics Paul Young died in 2000....theres another Paul Young, the 80s solo singer Paul Young
The 2 pauls are both singing this tune .
I always wondered how Paul Carrack would sound on this song. The studio version was the other singer.
Yes, John Kirby.
Very Collin'ish drums/percussion/programming - probably due to the Padgham production values...
felsner1 it's Collins-ish because he wrote it LOL. It's a song Genesis wrote but never released.

@loralie5974 Great album! Even some of the non-singles were great!
Wow! Holy Cow! Love the original, but, Paul Carrack is Paul Carrack!
Two things puzzle me here:
1) Lead guitar doesn't sound like Rutherford
2) Backing vocals are extremely dense and perfect... who did them?
@MikeyRB77 Meaning?
Abacab synth. would be. Neat if Peter Gabriel drop by with "walk through the fire".
I don't think that is Paul Young singing on Call to Arms. Can someone clarify the date this was recorded?
Actually, it is. The two Pauls are splitting the vocals.
