    This is by far the best Miami Vice intro. There will never be a tv show like this, it's timeless.

      it gives me such inspiration, Miami, the daytona, romance, night, 80s, all the weather around this scenes is amazing, really special show! Sadly, much scenes showed tragedy, but the romantic music still fits it perfectly, its crazy, MV had lots of scenes like this, "Rites of passage", "Sons and Lovers", and other episodes

    Don´t get me wrong - the whole show was PERFECT from start to the end! But what would it have been without all the contributions from all the epic musicans / bands / Jan Hammer? Music is a vital part of this show. Absolutely perfect in every single episode.

      I couldn't agree with you more. I'm 51 and when Miami Vice was at it's hottest in '85 and '86, I ALWAYS tuned in on Friday nights before hitting the streets with my friends. Miami Vice defined my youth... A much better time in my life the same as you. No bills, no worries, not a care in the world. My biggest problem in the 80's was what excuse to give a girl if I was on the phone with her and another girl called :-)

    I loved how they used a song with a romantic tone to portray something that isn't romantic but is quite tragic. Only MV could do that with great cynicism and a nihilistic approach to filming.
    Neo noir I suppose?!

    • @JohnDoe-iv8of
      @JohnDoe-iv8of 4 роки тому +8

      That sums up MV pretty nicely. Despite the misleading superficial glitter, the show was quite gritty for its time and had a realistic view of the so called 'war on drugs', money laundering and involvement of alphabet agencies and Wall Street in the trade way before it became popular. In the 80s, the fiction was dominated by a naive/infantile view of good vs. bad, a recycling of the 50s. IMO, that is why most criminals in MV are gunned down as if producers/writers were displaying their lack of trust in the corrupt system's ability to mete out justice. Also, the show ended with Crockett & Tubbs realising the futility of their efforts against the biggest enemy, the government itself, and walking away. The show had a clear Dirty Harry outlook as opposed to say Hill Street Blues which many people at the time mistakenly viewed as a 'realistic' cop show. It was actually your average soap staged in a precinct setting.

      Hit the nail on the head. I remember watching the episode where Valerie's sister was murdered and hearing "I Want to Know Where Love Is" as the soundtrack to that scene, being wholly frozen and heartbroken. I can't listen to that song without thinking about that scene. I can't think of another show that matched their soundtracks up this well.

      I agree with you about the permed hairstyles. The fashion and hair of the 80's and 90's was where it was at. I still get that from some people I meet today and I quote "wow your clothes and hair look very 80's". Huge compliment I must say 🙂 Best times and Best era ever! 💗

    "You already have."

    The thing that stands out the most here is none of the hospital workers wearing protective gear of any kind. I know it’s probably 1986-86, but it’s still surprising. Great song though.

    Strawmen are interesting in TV shows and movies. This actress, she was pretty but she wasn't (at least in this scene) star quality beautiful, so it was easier for the audience to accept her character's death.
