Joe has some great songs, check out "Is She Really Going Out With Him" or "Different For Girls"
I just listened to the whole Look Sharp album the other day. Something I rarely do anymore is listen to an entire album, but it was so good I just kept listening.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions "Pump it up".
I had a reaction to him I just posted it
Jackson's father was a swing band leader in the 40's, and I've always thought that influence made his approach to was was essentially New Wave unique.
Yes, there were a few other New Wave artists, usually British, who had that influence, or a Motown influence to certain songs. Those are the ones who still mean the most to me.
I'm starting to wonder if you're the lucky SOB who found my records when I lost them in 1987
LOL
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂❤️
Good one 🤣🤣
Fortunately you copied them onto C90 cassette tape, right?
😁
I never clicked so fast!!! Man, this song right here (80s🔥) Check out his ballad "Something Always Breaking Us In Two"
Joe Jackson "Breaking Us In Two" will give you a better idea of his vocal output.
Such a beautiful song!!
Absolutely
People should check out the earlier, too. Bleak and painful as *Beat Crazy* is, I still love it.
I totally love this song.
Jay, you'll like "Look Sharp" "You Can't Get What You Want" "Breaking Us In Two" "Happy Loving Couples'
His first album Look Sharp was an amazing rock n' roll album.
Is She Really Going Out With Him
@@raulcarranza4722 I had no appreciation of that song when it first hit. But it grew on me later.
Breaking Us in Two is another good song
next....IS SHE REALLY GOING OUT WITH HIM?...good one!
This is a great one !!!
My favourite song Is She Really Going Out With Him brilliant memories for me lol
Best glockenspiel solo in rock history.
I love seeing the younger generation jamming out to this!🎉 Although, I myself was just a child😂 when this came out..I used to watch my mom get ready to go out and dance. I imagine they had a great time, because they'd work, work, work & then do it All again! Good times..tis life.❤ Salute to you 2 years into an algorithm, but hey!
Early 80's epic hit, always on the radio when you left the house for an evening out at one of the hundreds of 80's dance clubs.
Another good 80's band -- They're called YES -- "Owner of a Lonely Heart" very nice tune
That's a great song!!! However, the video seriously freaked me out, when I was a kid!!!!
Yes was a band of the 1970s, a Progressive Rock band whose deeper & longer cuts would both bore and frighten most people today.
Yes late 80's Big Generator. Yes early 70's Starship Troopers
This has always been one of my very favorite songs
I'm really glad you chose this song, Javon. I haven't heard it in a long time. I lived during the 80's and I was in my 20's then. It brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks.
Try Joe Jackson "I'm the Man"
and "Sunday Papers!"
my other favorite song by him is Breaking Us in Two
Check out 'Real Men' also by Joe Jackson.
Love Joe Jackson, smooth piano and voice!
This makes me think of Elvis Costello. Give "Alison" a try. Cheers!
For me, it's not just this song but also others by Jackson that make me think of Costello. There are so many good Costello songs, and "Alison" is one of them.
I second Elvis Costello.
Check out Linda Ronstadt's cover of Alison.
With you on that
Jovaughn, please add 'Watchin The Detectives' & 'Red Shoes' to your Elvis Costello list.
This is what you call a class act! Stupendous hit. Pure clear magic. I think I hear, Hammond organ, piano, electric piano, and possibly fair light synthesiser.
The video of this song used to fuel my imagination of living it big when I grew up, and going dancing late into the evening with a sweet lady in my arms...when you're 12/13 years old in the '80's everything seemed possible. The kid in me still daydreams about this when I hear the song...but real life likes to remind me of how old I'm getting, lol
Oh oh wow I used to daydream the same thing but I was only like 8-9 years young 🌱😂 I've been out in the night but with this kind of music it would have been superb!❤🎉
I really love this song !! I remember 80's !!
OMG, I haven't seen anyone react to this. I LOVE THIS SONG!
Caught his live show two years ago in Ann Arbor......he is fantastic in concert.
I ended up going to Venice Iyy to see him. It was quite worth the trip.
Italy.
Joe Jackson 🎶🎧 excellent artist with many great songs!
One of my Top 30 Songs of all-time based on my 66 years of loving music since about 4 years old...:)
Absolutely Brilliant - an anthem! - Back when the attention to detail in videos was the standard!
One of those songs when you hear it after some time, you realize what a catchy tune it had along with great vocals and piano skills. Great song!
Good dancing song
Check out "Is She Really Going Out With Him?"
Joe Jackson - supremely underrated. Bunch of great tracks.
I love Joe Jackson, so classy! This is a favorite of mine!
This is a gorgeous spring windy song. It's so lovely thank you so much for the video
You should check out Nick Lowe as well. I Love The Sound of Breaking Glass and Cruel to be Kind.
Joe Jackson Real Men. A great great song of his.
Believe it's a bass synth representing the heartbeat of the city. Such beautiful piano work
I had forgotten how much I liked this song. Another one to dance round the living with the children. Yes we did a lot of dancing back then!!
BRILLIANT TRACK!
His live version of "Slow Song" damn near brings you to tears.
One of my favourite tracks ever. A real Mood lifter.
So many great songs. Reminds me of getting ready to go out on Friday nights with friends.....Howard Jones is someone you might like as well....
CLASSIC 80s. Great lyrics, great beat, simply great.
Christmas time in New York. Good memories. One of my 80’s favs
Takes me back to the 45. What a time to be alive.
‘Breaking Us in Two’ & ‘Sentimental Thing’ Haunting tunes by Joe Jackson👏🏻
Love this song, takes me back 👍
Oh Jovaughn, you did it again. One of my favorites. I don't know what it is about this song but it always would float my boat. LOL This was a hard song for him to do live because he would play many of the instruments but I seen one performance where he did play it live. Thanks again for another great memory.
This song was a masterpiece. Love it!
Hecka cool bass beat on this one too! 👍👍💖💖💖
Can you play Barry White 1974 on Soul Train -"Your my first, my last, my everything" for Motown Mondays? Or "Can't get enough of your love babe", same period, live. Or "Never never going to give you up" album. He needs to be heard again. Thanks JayVee.
All the ladies love Barry 😉
Quintessential early 80’s. Beautiful song!
Joe Jackson is a top notch singer/songwriter, You might also want to check out "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" and "Breaking Us in Two". Sheer perfection!
You can’t go wrong with Joe Jackson. He’s FAB!
I super love this song ❤️ thanks for reacting to it 👌
Hey Jay, that's a bass guitar carrying that rhythm in the back ground.
I'm a bassist myself and have played it many times. Actually it carries the entire song. Believe me, if it wasn't there you would definitely miss it... you wouldn't be able to dance to it without it.
I don't know if you play an instrument, but basically it's just the root note and then the octave. I know it sounds real busy and difficult but it really isn't.
I've seen a lot of comments here saying it's a "sequencer", and it could be, but I have my doubts. I had no problem replicating that sound with my Fender Jazz Bass and also seen other bands that covered that song and they all played bass guitar.
Joe Jackson always had good bass players in his band, especially the dude that played on the "Look Sharp" album.
He was phenomenal... I just can't think of his name right now.
I grew up the seventies and we called it a disco bass groove.
I was a working musician and if you couldn't play octave runs like that in the '70s you weren't playing much music. Lol
Great song, by the way... always liked it.
Its a simple message.....and he wants you to get into the groove and go out!......Even though its 80s...its better than anything today!
I grew up with this, and LOVED this song. The 80s were such a weird and amazing time.
Keep up the great work :)
Another fantastic song
React to "Wishing Well" by Terence Trent D'Arby
I saw Joe Jackson at a small venue in the 80s and he put on a great show.
You can't get what you want by joe jackson. Great artist
One of those songs. first time hearing it, you know its going to be a classic.
Ok, there’s a live video where he shows exactly how the song is played with his band. The first thing he pulls out is basically the first drum machine every made which he still uses live today. It establishes the beat, then phrase by phrase drums, guitar, and piano doubled by glockenspiel (which is played by the bass player) are added, and that is it!
I loved this song when I was a kid. Totally eighties synthesizer. Let the bopping commence.
Try “One more time” or “Sunday papers” also “ Got the time” 🤜🤟❤️🇨🇦
Got the Time. Or do Anthrax’s cover of it!!!
Cpm love that version !🤟🇨🇦
My stoned friend heard the lyric from "Got the Time" as "chicken in my head" & got totally fixated on it.
Good times.
@@disconsolatemoose6637 Time Chicken. New band name. Called it! 🤣🤘❤️
Sounds like a xylophone to me ... 'Stepping Out' a lovely Joe Jackson number.
Drum machines were the latest technology when this was new, and synthesizers with arpeggiators were still pretty high tech. The tech made the song really catchy, but like Elvis Costello during the same time period, Joe Jackson proved to have great depths and variety within him.
"Sunday Papers";
"I'm the Man";
"Loisaida" and
"Won't You Be My Number Two".
Some more great songs from Joe: "Another World," "TV Age," "Breaking Us in Two," "Cosmopolitan," "1-2-3, Go! (This Town's a Fairground)," "Laundromat Monday," "You Can't Get What You Want ('Til You Know What You Want)," "Cha Cha Loco," "Go For It," "Stranger than Fiction," "Hit Single," "Stranger than You," and "Glamour and Pain," to name just a few!
Great song
He still has the originall drum machine from this track and he still uses it on tour and sounds amazing
This song takes me right back to high school. Like a time machine.
Love Joe Jackson. Other songs to check out: ‘I’m the Man,’ ‘Get Sharp,’ ‘on Your Radio,’ ‘Got the Time’, ‘Always Something Tearing Us In Two’, ‘Beat Crazy’, ‘You Can’t Get What You Want Until You Know What You Want’, ‘Is You Is one Is You Ain’t My Baby’... for a start.
Great choice, love this song so much. One of the first hits with a drum machine!
Another good Joe Jackson song is "Is she really going out with him?" or "I'm the man".
What??!!!!. This is my 80s anthem. I start dancing like Molly Ringwald. Omg it becomes a situation.
Great song for taking a drive on a sunny day.
This is one of my all time favourite songs! Got The Time is another song of his worth checking out.
The bassline was made with a Prophet 5 synthesizer; all drums but the snare were made with a Korg KR-55 drum machine.
There's lots of great Joe Jackson songs.. Check out "You Can't Get What You Want (til You Know What You Want)", "A Slow Song", "Is She Really Going Out With Him" and "Sunday Papers"
The beats are so funky and it's impossible to Not move.
OMG, I can't believe you actually reacted to Joe Jackson! Thank you! Please check out "I'm the Man" from him, too. 😄
Joe's an original & criminally underrated
I remember buying the album this was from when I was 18 , LEGEND 💖
Love Joe Jackson. Have all of his albums. The song It's Different For Girls is a really great one among many
We had him play senior week graduation week when I was at University of Rhode Island 1984.. this was the album that was big at time.
Love Joe Jackson the 80 good times
Great song ,he has so many good songs.
One of my favorites.
80s wow great decade man
One of Joe's contemporaries who is worth checking out is Howard Jones - check out his songs "Like To Get To Know You Well" & "What Is Love?" - both amazing tracks!
Jay please more Joe Jackson, "You Can't Get What You Want" "Breaking Us In Two" and and
💕 for another great "adult contemporary" hit, try Basia "Time and Tide." 😁
Joe J is a premium singer songwriter." Different for Girls" is maybe my favourite
Great song. Someone in the band is a master of the triangle.
Love this song!
Love this, great 80s song, he had quite a few hits here in the UK
Gosh. I haven't heard this since the 80s, but geez it's so nice to hear! I was excited when I saw you you were reacting to this :-)
Love this tune 👍
Nobody seems to have done "Real Men" by Joe Jackson. It's definitely one of his best, the song and the message.
Sounds just as good today as it did when first heard it aged 9🎤🎼🎶🎹
