Yeah totally he had such a distinctive voice, such great memories as a young kid listening to them. Better times back then miss those days more than ever 🤔
Steve Perry is Amazing. Journey is not Journey without him! He made Journey. He was the voice we all loved back then, still love, and will always love forever!! Love Steve!!
I used to mistake that part for a synthesizer, but it’s actually HIS VOICE!! I wish that part was highlighted more! It’s so easy to miss it, and he deserves some serious credit for his range!!
Back in the early 70’s I had to travel and live in California for several months because my first born son at age two, had to have a difficult heart surgery. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Steve and friends while going through this difficult time. My son did pass away, but Steve the sweet man that he was, helped me through it.
Lots of bands in the 80's that died on the altar of ridiculous popularity. They got played into the turf. Journey, Styx and REO Speedwagon to name a few. People got fatigued listening to them but then you go back and realize why they were played so much!
Exactly. I saw Journey, Styx and Pat Travers on the same day at the Superbowl of Rock a million years ago. Steve Perry is one of those rare people who sounds exactly the same on stage as he does in the studio.
Styx was the first concert I ever went to, on their "Pieces of Eight" tour. Saw them a few years ago at a state fair with REO. Still cranking out the jams after all those years. Got to see Journey live too, but not with Steve.
Journey really didn't get pounded into us, I would see the Separate Ways video once in a while, maybe a couple others. That's it. Not sure where the rap came from, the myth that all they did was cheesy love ballads maybe? Even those are good songs.
Try "You've Got Something To Hide". "Patiently". "Sweet And Simple" "Winds Of March" "Walks Like A Lady" "Where Were You?" "Do You Recall?" "Lady Luck" "I'm Cryin'" "Jesse Rides" "The Edge The Blade" "Ask The Lonely" "Little Girl" "Natural Thing" "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever?" To name a few Ha!
Rick W hi from Portugal 🇵🇹 thank you so much, thats exactly what im going to do. Im going to listen to all those songs. Im in love with his voice. Teddy 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Basically anything from the "Infinity" "Evolution" and "Departure" albums are a must listen. You can find them here on UA-cam. "Captured" was a live album with many of these songs on it. Some sound even better with SP singing live! Also check out Steve's solo song; "Strung Out" and "Don't Fight It" a Kenny Loggins song he sings on. Also check out Neal Schon's (Journey guitarist) song; "No More Lies" you have to watch the video. Check out Neil's "Mom jeans" they are almost pulled up to his nipples! Ha! Peace and stay healthy & safe!
To have seen them in concert.... those feelings are still strong... he was truly an unmatched voice... I swear we floated home on a cloud of awe of his voice after the concert
When I wake up I listen to Steve Perry, before I go to bed I listen to Steve Perry. What do I listen to in between? Yep you guessed it. He's my favorite singer of all time and oh so easy on the eyes.
Yay! Thanks for doing some more of my favorite group Journey.Seen them twice in the 80s!Please react to Mother/Father by them, preferably the live from Houston`81..you will LOVE it!
Dee Lawson When I bought my tickets for a Spring 1983 concert... I had never heard of the opening act, somebody called Bryan Adams... by the time the concert date came, the new guy had 2 #1 songs. A nice bonus for the Journey show! What a show!
They’re jealous that their woman loves Steve more than them! I’m positive he sings better and looks better and is Damn sexier than their stupid self...
YEAH, stop taking them for granted Lol.... 'cause they surely are ALL THAT!!! They're like Queen & The Bee Gees (in a class by themselves). "When You Love A Woman", is his MOST BEAUTIFUL ballad. They have MANY hits...
Funny he said that, it seemed like everyone took them for granted back in the day. Probably due to the fact they had an endless string of hit songs and there was never not a Journey song in radio rotation. It was just a given that there was always a Journey song being played regularly on the radio.
Steve has an awesome voice, love Journey, i have a few of they albums and i have this song, one of my faves too, So i'm definitely singing along. Other fave songs of mine of Journey's are "Separate Ways", "Who's Crying Now" & "Open Arms" 😎👌🎶❤🎸
Did you catch how long the note Steve holds was around the 5 minute mark? It's easy to miss if you're just listening. I didn't realize it till I watched the video. And then he just goes right back to singing. It's like he doesn't even have to breathe. Love me some Journey with Steve singing lead!!!
For a good laugh, watch the video with the sound off. Personally, I always hated that song (nothing to do with the video, which I never saw until recently), but it's popular, so I'm obviously in the minority there.
Steve Perry is great. I rocked out to them on concert twice and I was in amazement of his voice both times. This is 1 band that is just as great in concert as on the album.
This song means alot to me, I was literally on my death bed, not caring if I lived or died and one of the nurses snuck a radio on the ward ( ICU) this song came on the part where Sreve vocals went extremely high it caught my attention and I had to know who it was, I began fighting back. Needless to say I lived and finally got to Journeys concert, It has been over 40 years that have always stood by Perry and always will. The guitar solo is showing Steves vocal powers.
Loved this reaction! Even though this song has been played a million times, I never get tired of it. JV! Stepping up your dress with a collar shirt! Shows off those guns. Nice! Looking forward to you rocking your own gear. : )
He has one of those unique voices, no mistaking it for anyone else! Yes, your generation has always had the benefit of high quality audio and video. We used to tape songs off the radio by putting the tape recorder next to the radio and hoping Mom didn’t walk into the room and spoil it, or the stupid DJ would talk though the first part!
Here in Los Angeles, the AM radio DJ's ALWAYS talked over the intro. There was a contest among them to see who could get the closest to just before the words started, like to prove who knew the song the best. Geesh! KHJ, the real Don steel and KRLA, Humble Harv (was convicted of murder or something crazy, iirc). Only the FM stations would play entire albums without interruption. Like KLOS, but not KEARTH 101.
Steve Perry is the GOAT. Gorgeous tone, flawless technique and he puts so much FEELING into every song. The only countertenor I've ever heard who doesn't sound like a girl.
Steve Perry is just a PERFECT singer!!! I've been a long time fan of his and Classic Journey. Even though I love this version you should really react to the live in Houston, Tx version!! It's awesome!! While reacting to that one, also react to Mother Father from the same concert!!!! It's a Masterpiece!!!!
I was lucky to have seen Journey in 1983, or early 84, can't remember. I do remember it was in New Orleans. :D Steve Perry all the way! Great! Great! Great Concert! :)
One of my top 3 favorites of theirs. Steve has one of most unique vocals. One of the top best in the world. His screams in this song along with the guitar solo is amazing. Thanks great reaction.
I watch these vids every day (every day): Open Arms - Faithfully - Lights - Send Her My Love - I'll Be Alright Without You - Don't Stop Believin' - and Foolish Heart from his solo career
I went to many concerts in the mid to late 70's. Watched Journey twice in outdoor stadium shows. They were fantastic. Real musicians, real professionals and their live performances were as good or better than studio.
Jayvee - Try a back-to-back pair of songs; Feeling That Way/Anytime. The are always played one after the other, with only a 1 second break, on radio. They showcase Journey's other great singer, keyboardist Greg Rollie, together with Steve. Rollie is extremely underrated as singer - as one might expect when you are in band with Steve Perry, but he has pipes, having been the lead singer on many of Santana's songs, including Black Magic Woman. Go for the live performance on the Midnight Special (1978)
There aren’t too many out there like Steve Perry! Please, please, please review Send Her My Love! I am 51 years old and my eyes still water with emotion every time I hear that song. It is absolutely beautiful! And yes there is an official video with concert footage on UA-cam!
Big fan of Steve. This may be my favorite song of theirs. He's definitely in the top 5 of the greatest singers in music history to me. Man, what a God given blessing his voice. Kudos to the band members also. Terrific!

Steve...Neal...incredible combo...you know the old saying that "they do not make music like this any more" on radio...well, you can't...this cannot be duplicated! BEST OF THE BEST *Listen to their "Infinity" album...whole album start to finish=masterpiece
He has one of the most amazing voices ever.
Yes, he certainly does!
My favorite vocalist is Lou Gramm from Foreigner, and Steve is right up there with him. He and Paul Rogers from Bad Company...
Yeah totally he had such a distinctive voice, such great memories as a young kid listening to them. Better times back then miss those days more than ever 🤔
Even as a 70 year old he sounds amazing! No Erasin’ is amazing!
Yes!!! Steve Perry is like none other.
"Lights" has got to be the next one!!!
After lights, try 'Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin''!!!!
Keyboardist was also the singer from Santana. He sang Black Magic Woman.
Lights!
You have to listen to “Only the Young” one of their best👍🏻 and there are many!!! Thanks ... enjoy your channel , you have good taste 😃
Steve Perry is Amazing. Journey is not Journey without him! He made Journey. He was the voice we all loved back then, still love, and will always love forever!! Love Steve!!
Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’ from 1979. You’ll love it.
Steve Perry my idol No one has a voice like him Even with his new Traces tracks
He could sing, the ingredients from a can of baked beans, and sounds good.
I love his new song No More Crying, excellent!!
Steve...and Lou Gramm...my faves
At 4:44, Steve breaks in with his beautiful high voice. Amazing!!
I used to mistake that part for a synthesizer, but it’s actually HIS VOICE!! I wish that part was highlighted more! It’s so easy to miss it, and he deserves some serious credit for his range!!
‘Stone in Love”, “The Girl Can’t Help It”, ‘Lovin’, Touching, Squeezing” are amazing. True Journey Classics. Nobody like Steve Perry
Steve perry the voice!!! A legend!!!! When steve left journey died in my opinion!!!
Man, I love his voice and I love this song. 💜
Back in the early 70’s I had to travel and live in California for several months because my first born son at age two, had to have a difficult heart surgery. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Steve and friends while going through this difficult time. My son did pass away, but Steve the sweet man that he was, helped me through it.

Styx was good the rest that you mentioned stunk
@@deannacrownover3 He even sounds BETTER live, consistently. Hard to think of many other artists who do!
Saw this live about 40 years ago. Great show, Steve Perry was Awwwsum!
Feelin’ that way/Anytime is a must. Back when Steve Perry joined the band and shared vocals w/ Greg Rollie. Awesome song!
Agreed!
Yes! Best introduction of a new band member ever.
Was about to say the same, but you got it covered. The Rollie days are my favorite. Lights is another good one, but Anytime/Feelin' is a must.
Wowwww great song love his voice OMG👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Try "You've Got Something To Hide". "Patiently". "Sweet And Simple" "Winds Of March" "Walks Like A Lady" "Where Were You?" "Do You Recall?" "Lady Luck" "I'm Cryin'" "Jesse Rides" "The Edge The Blade" "Ask The Lonely" "Little Girl" "Natural Thing" "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever?" To name a few Ha!

I agree😍
M May Not ashamed to admit I’ve always had a huge crush on Steve Perry!
Amen let’s never forget those magical days
Why can't this night go on forever! Is another great song! From Journey. 👍👍👍
You are so right! Steve Perry’s voice is fabulous ❤️
Speechless what a voice just epic what a song and singer
the 4:44 minute mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when he sings high high high is in itself incredible! greatest male rock voice of all time..
Smooth Steve Perry....My personal all-time favorite & always has been. Journey IS an awesome group!!!
Lights, Foolish Heart, When You Love a Woman. All fantastic!
Love this song! Steve Perry knocks it out!
One of my favorite Journey song When You Love a Woman I guarantee you'll like that one

I saw a post elsewhere with someone saying Steve has a terrible voice, my thought? They’re tone deaf! Distinctive impressive and unforgettable! 🙌🏻
Great voice and his diction is great. Rare for singers
Must have been a wannabe karaoke singer.
Just trolls just trying to start crap! Just listen to him! Anyone saying that is tone deaf but I doubt it they were just trying to rile people up!
They’re jealous that their woman loves Steve more than them! I’m positive he sings better and looks better and is Damn sexier than their stupid self...
Oh please!! The internet has made some real assholes.
"FEELING THAT WAY / ANYTIME" is a must Jayvee.

It is called Breath Control. Steve Perry had it in spades!
13 seconds long!!!
😍🥰 that VOICE ❣️ and he’s 🔥 also
You're making me feel young again, Jay! Thanks!
Many other older Journey songs - Feelin That Way, Too Late, others also!!
Their song, "Separate Ways' is blistering. MTV 24/7!
YES!!! ☝🥇

@@s1d299 I'm not a Journey fan in general, but seeing this post reminded me of how much their music was on the air back then. I don't miss it.
His Voice takes you on a journey Every Time. He has a very unique voice. It's Awesome that you can appreciate the music of Journey♥️
Such an amazing song! Check out Stone in Love and Lovin, Touching, Squeezing, two absolute masterpieces!
Well I thought you had made my day with Wicked Game, then you went & reacted to my favorite band of all time, JOURNEY!! 🤘🏻🌟🔥
As always I love watching your reaction. This is my favorite band. I saw them live back in 1983. Check out “Lights,” “When you love a woman”

Neal Schon, the lead guitarist was a member of Santana.
When he was 16.
So was the keyboard player, Gregg Rolie!
Greg Rolie was the singer on Black Magic Woman.
And one of the top 100 guitarist of all time!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💋

Anytime is one of my favorites from Journey.
I love listening to Journey in the summertime. It's great to have on your road trip playlist.
Who’s Crying Now live from Houston is AWESOME!
Heavily recommend a reaction to it!
These guys were worldwide superstars, as huge as a rock group can get.
Steve Perry is the GOAT. Gorgeous tone, flawless technique and he puts so much FEELING into every song. The only countertenor I've ever heard who doesn't sound like a girl.

Separate ways is a great song, and a bit faster.
I went to many concerts in the mid to late 70's. Watched Journey twice in outdoor stadium shows. They were fantastic. Real musicians, real professionals and their live performances were as good or better than studio.
Eyes of a woman!! Girl can’t help it, only the young. All of the songs are superb

Steve Perry what a voice!!!
Please do 'separate ways' its amazing! or a song he did solo in the 80s, 'oh sherrie'
Steve Perry is just amazing
Steves voice never disappoints! He recently came back at 70 and still rocks it! React to " We're still here".
I used to listen to this on 8 track tape driving around on Friday nite!!!😉😉😉😉
Journey had so many songs so many memories
One of my favorite bands ever, so great.
Love this song 🔥🔥🙌🙌
Did your hear that high note Steve hit when the lead guitarist was doing his solo????? That note when into the stratosphere!!!
When I first hear this song I thought it was Ann Wilson from heart for the first thirty seconds.
Can you imagine them together?? Two of the best voices in music?? My mind and heart would explode!
I thought lovin', touching, squeezin' was a girl at first...
