Renault have really done a fantastic job with their electric cars, their desfiners and engineers should be applauded and I really hope they continue to be successful given they make everything possible for the cars production in 3 factories in northern France and then everything else they look to procure from Europe 👏 well done Renault 👌🇫🇷
I know it's the age old complaint with electric cars, but the range really is my worry--they almost never actually achieve the manufacturer-claimed range, so I want a good amount of headroom to avoid range anxiety on longer trips. I think the minimum I'd be willing to consider would be 300 miles rated range - with the expectation I'll get a bit less than that, especially in the colder months - but... I like small cars, like this, and therein lies the problem. Ah well, I've never bought a brand new car in my life, and I likely won't ever do so - right now, I drive a 2008 Suzuki Swift Sport - so it'll be a long time before these cars start to reach my price range, and longer still before options with that range requirement become affordable for me.
Odd that Car of the Year can be one that doesn't get five stars in the NCAP safety tests. I suppose four stars is better than many of the runners up though.
Probably because NCAP 5 star requires lots of tech that people don't want. Lane keep assist, smart breaking etc. Crash protection is only a small part of the score.
The interior gives off a little too much Dacia in my opinion. I like the car generally, and hope it’s a strong seller - but there are better looking Renault cabins in their current lineup.
This is the best, cheapest small EV which in a few years will be a bargain in the used market, so this great for those with the budget to buy just now and even better value for those who prefer to wait on the used market and grab a brilliant car with lots of kit for a good price.
Just have to accept running an ev is different to an ice car. You don't go to a petrol station fewer times but you plug in when you get home more often. People will get used to it.
Pointless comparison between your stinky old diesel which is banned in many cities already. The LFP battery will do at least 2,500 cycles before suffering any serious loss of range >15%, the NMC battery about 1,500...Average UK mileage is 8,500 a year which works out as a once a week plug in...after 16 years you would not have plugged in 1,000 times and done about 130,000 miles which is nothing for an EV motor and battery combo. The average diesel in the UK is on the scrapheap at 150,000 miles

Bet you didn't do the one thing the car park is intended for and that's walking😊 there is a lovely 6 mile round trip hike I do several times a year. I love the New Forest 😍. But leave my parking spot alone, too many people know it already 😢
So you drive more than 200 miles a day? And you don't stop after 3 or 4 hours, ideally sooner to rest your eyes, eat, drink, use the bathroom?....As soon as EVs could do more than 350 km reliably I took the plunge....Kia e-Niro in 2019. I drove ICE cars for 45 years before getting the e-Niro and I never did more than the e-Niro's range in one sitting. I live in France now but average speeds in the UK are slow, the motorways are crowded and often stop/start. The whole EV 'range' thing is a non-issue these days and no one wants the Dci engine any more, diesel sales are

My main worry is that it won't suffer horrendous depreciation, so I won't be able to buy a used one for £12,000 in three years.
I know was looking at it for my first car in a few years when it's cheaper
I think a mid spec one in Yellow looks better than the Alpine
But the Alpine's intetior is on a different level

Amazing car but fails with it being EV only if it did a corsa or 208 and had both options it would be a best seller
