I love the Scenic and have driven 3 in the past (so big brand loyalty!) But my Arkana full Hybrid E tech does over 500m on a full tank in MySense mode, eg even before I switch to Eco. And no charging times or reliance on infrastructure. It has great looks too, and is cheaper than the Scenic EV, it's still a no-brainer to me. Good review.
Enjoyed the review, thanks Vicky. I do wonder where you would stand from an insurance point of view if you have a crash and had these 'safety' systems switched off. Insurance companies presumably cover you on the basis that these devices are active and will no doubt look for any excuse not to pay out...Any experiences to share of this happening?
good news about the annoying safety systems...the ones on our Tucson are mind-glowingly annoying and feel downright dangerous on occasion when it thinks a sharp steering-wheel tug is what's needed.
@@jonathantaylor1998 Model3 is very efficient but Ioniq 6 is faster charging and has as big or even bigger range. I like the look of the car and its infotainment system. If they can ever guarantee 400 miles on a single charge it no good for me. I fill up my diesel and it can guarantee 500 miles.
400 miles...? That's like driving the near 7 1/2 hour journey from London to Edinburgh non-stop...? No-one in the right mind would consider that a safe thing to do, surely...! 🤔 This "Until an EV can do 500 miles like my diesel car, I'm not interested" line is just honestly ridiculous - in the 'real world', 99% of petrol / diesel car drivers would do maybe 3 1/2 - 4 hours absolute max driving time, then pull in to a services to take a much-needed 20-30 minute pee break, grab food and a coffee, catch up on emails / social media etc etc An EV that can do 250 miles is pretty-much all that 99% of people would actually need - so, instead of just leaving your petrol car sat idle in the car park, like drivers have done for decades, your EV is plugged in to a rapid charge point and is back up to 80-85% charge, ready for the next 3-4 hour slog up the motorway, all in the time it's taken for your pee break 👍

Yes, of course my personal experience is no more, nor no less, valid than yours. That said the brand new Scenic was only slightly more expensive to insure than a 20 year old Discovery. That will likely apply to most drivers with clean licenses as the only variable is the car. And when you take into account the fact that the difference is offset in less than one tankfull of diesel it becomes insignificant. The cost of the car itself may be an issue for many folks, but insurance certainly isn't any added burden. That's just another chimera.

I turned off when I heard the words £45,000. Oh and when will EV reviewers stop quoting the mythical, unattainable WLTP figure? Having said all that, it’s a nice looking motor car and I’d buy one if it was much more affordable.
Such an ignorant take. EVs are 20 times less likely to catch fire than petrol and diesel cars. Data corroborated from a US insurer, the study found that EVs suffer 25 fires per 100,000 sold. Petrol or diesel vehicles were found to experience 1,530 fires per 100,000, with hybrid vehicles at a notably higher risk of 3,475 fires per 100,000.
Yes, I would buy it. Looks nice from the outside, looks amazing inside.

To bad is not proper MPV, but they made another SUV would probably go for KIA EV9😊❤
Great review keep it up Vicky.
The non fast charger port can charge at 22KW not 7KW what is great. Same goes for the Megane
I enjoyed watching the video review

Good car, looks good too
What's the best EV for people with no family? (Commute 256 miles) Thanks!
Train or most EVs if you can plan 1 rapid charge stop or able to charge at work.
Tesla Model 3 all day long.
Access to the excellent Supercharger network is a gamechanger for long distance EV travel 👍
Still the Scenic. I don't have a family and I have this car, meets all my requirements really well.

I like the car but 37-41k is far too expensive not to mention the fact that it'll be very expensive to insure also so affordable? I don't think so.
The one you’re looking at is around 45k maybe a bit more

My insurance was about £300 for my Disco. The Scenic is about £30 more. For a brand new car that's no issue for me

Renault suddenly has several models, all of similar size. To my mind, it's confusing.

Hello Vicky
Remember when Renault (and VW, etc) was a family friendly brand, not a pretentiously posh crossover brand?

This is mainly a question of pricing in the UK, on the continent the big-battery version starts at under £37,000 including tax and fees.
