I have a triumph speed twin 1200. Was really wondering whether the BMW would be better to drive. But definitely the English gentleman look of the triumph got my heart pumping harder…. Regarding &SONS wow… nice clothes! Last but not least: the father is ripped!
A v100 griso damn instant buy. The height is killing me on v100 and stelvio (tho stelvio is better as bars is more lean back and seat narrower). But a classic naked sporty enough like speed twin 1200, nine t or (position wise) xsr900/monster 937…. Damn i would take it.

Loved the comments about the state of our roads. Some do look like they have been bombed and it really is a shock when you come home from abroad and see what we have to contend with. Good quick review Darcy, thank you.
i dont know what it is about bikes with a transverse motor, this and all the guzzi bikes, i love them and seem like they are the bikes that seem to grab my attention the most and all seem to have great character. Ive not owned a bmw but it has a unique sound and based on review a lot of great character as well.
My son and I have transitioned from Harley n Indian..I ride the Bmw R18 Transcontinental n he has the K1600b..both great rides...of course his is the fast one!!😅.. Great reviews as usual..glad ur channel is growing..well deserved 👍
Hi guys, It brings me always a big and very happy smile in my faces if I ride this beautiful new bike. 😊 It needs weeks to get it out of my face 😂😊 But the rides never get out of my happiness ❤ Greeting from West Germany 😊
When I moved to East Anglia, I was similarly caught out by fenland roads...(and thankfully got away with it without incident). I've developed a new respect for good suspension since then.
My buddy upgraded a 2016 model with spoked wheels into a cool ride with ohlins suspension, exhaust, tune, etc. I rode it for about 400 miles. Coming off of my K7 GSXR750 I wasn't blown away by the HP to weight ratio. However, it was a lot more comfortable just cruising the city. For what it is I found it to be a nice mix of comfort, handling and torque in the shorter rides aspect. Pretty sure his upgrades had a lot to do with that. He spent alot of money to mod but that is his bike. The seat was killing my ass after 2 hours on the highway though same as any sport bike so points lost on that part. This bike would lose aesthetic value putting an ass couch seat on it but would make it way more comfortable riding it for extended periods. Just my 2 cents.
I concur with the state of the roads. This is where one of the various Scrambler style bikes on the market with 21" front wheel and longer travel suspension scores over more road focused machinery. Flat twin Beemers have never been my thing but each to his own. I've just purchased a Triumph Scrambler 1200 and it sounds much nicer even with the standard exhausts on. It also has a digital TFT/LCD dash but they seem to be the "go to tech" for instrumentation nowadays. What is it with stylists who think gold forks go with everything!!😂😂
I grabbed a '23 XC and got the best looking and most reasonable scrambler on the market. The gold would be fine if they had the gold accents on a few more parts, but they don't so the XC black forks make it the best.
@@logangodofcandy I bought the X as it looked and felt much closer to my old Street Scrambler which I really liked. All it needed was the grunt of the 1200 motor.
i prefer this over the old R9T, they sorted that rear end, now has a nice mudguard. tempted to trade my speed twin in for one, mainly cos you can get cruise control on this and the shaft drive would be handy as i like to ride all year round when it isn't raining. you can also get a quick shifter which is a nice to have as well, only thing it still doesn't have is a proper fuel gauge! not that the one on the Triumph is much good anyway but still.....
You know what would make a great comparison test? I am seeing similarities between the R12 cruiser, vs. Your Motoguzzi… Both upright shaft driven, one has larger displacement… which one is a more comfortable tourer? Which would you pick and why? Hope you can make that comparison happen… Always enjoy your content.
Can’t believe they haven’t put a fuel gauge on it ?!? At that price , lovely bike but no fuel gauge is a pain. I had a R Nine T pure and loved it , but didn’t love guessing fuel and clocking mileage on refills then forgetting 😖
I rode the previous gen r nine urban and it was exactly what I expected it to be it was faultless but lacked character a bit b like a comfy old pair of slippers
Sympathize with the road conditions there one of my favorites nearby that follows along a beautiful river has turned into a continuous pothole along its entire length and the center if your unlucky enough to hit it is just a horrid mess. They corrugated it to warn drivers when they’re near it but hear in New England that’s a death sentence to the surface. Fills in with ice then gets ripped up with the plows might as well be dirt
Mr. Darcy no coin flipping required. We all know you would go for analog. 😅I think the screen is for riders coming off other BMW’s and got used to them. Only weird thing here is that the swing arm is on the right hand side and the exhaust on the side stand? My real interest would be the R12. Would love to hear what the real differences are between the R12nineT and the R12.
It is a nice bike, but as an owner of an RnineT I prefer my older model, they seem to have removed some of the “classic” appeal of the original, cast wheels look odd on it for a start, digital dash looks like it should be on a 125. Sorry, change for changes sake.

Dear Darcy I liked your review and your Dad's cameo appearance of telling the Rains in UK.The BMW R12 twin looking very beautiful but the Size of the Engine looks Heavy. What do you think 🤔
Vert nice looking bike but it’s getting too expensive and having the 1250 with shiftcam around makes the engine feel somehow less interesting. You should try the 1250R or RS, cheers ✌️
That speedometer/tachometer thing is a total turnoff and would prevent me from ever buying the bike. Looking forward to more from you and your father! Thank you! SS
I can say the same from the streets here in Germany. Our politicians are ruining everything... Beside this I always enjoy the reactions from you and your father 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It's a bike divided in two parts. Everything rear of the stearing head is great, looks, engine, shaft drive, neighbour-friendly sound. But the front end is awful with those golden fork legs, that doesn't match anything else, and the tiny mudguard. Fix the front end, and you have a very nice bike, BMW.
If you're coming to Portugal, come and join us at Portimao for the MotoGP! The local crew would like to shake your hand, say hello, and share a beer 🍻. If not, we'll see you on the N2...
Next time, hit us up and we'll take you around the real insider roads on the Algarve mountains and hills for a few days...how do we leave our email address for you?
Looks like some nice updates. Sounds like they're trying to close the gap to Triumph. Meanwhile Triumph is stripping premium parts off of their Scrambler X and Speed Twinn to close the gap in the other direction, SMH. The upside-down forks should be black here, not gold on a classic bike. I also think the wheels should be spoked and tubed like a Norton, and the brake discs fully floating. None of these braking surfaces just bolted to the wheel. Just give us one that looks the nuts out of the gate. Why can't they do that? Triumph gets the closest, IMO. Incidentally, Catwoman rode one of these in the last Batman.
Is there a single bike that you don’t like?😂 If you like this, do yourself a favor and try an R1250RT. In my 50+ years of riding and owning over 60 bikes the best bike I have ever ridden is my RT. It rides and handles better than anything else BMW makes. 135 horsepower! The shift cam motor is better at low rpm and high rpm. It doesn’t look retro but don’t let that put you off. This new bike looks better than the predecessor. They got rid of that ugly-ass lump on the right side of the gas tank.
I would like to try it but it would most likely not be a bike I would like. We have mostly been choosing to review bikes that we enjoy riding. But I do want to try a few bikes that aren’t my type
Please please 🙏 BMW makes a GS version with this motor….not a GS Urban…a proper GS to compete with the Stelvio. It would tempt many who are holding on to their TCs. It will never happen but I can dream.😢
Comically overpriced when including the pretty much mandatory "Comfort Pack" resulting in a real world base price of £15,400. Adding a few basic options soon takes it up to nearly £16,800 and that's without any of the "Option 719" options or navigation extras! Within the BMW range the somewhat similar R1250R is far more reasonably priced even if it doesn't have the same poser value.
@@iancraig6070It's the kind of bike targeted at those who'll be far more concerned over whether their soy latte is ethically sourced. Trifling details like knowing how much fuel is remaining are of little concern!
What's not to like about BMW's engineering prowess and refinement? Top of the pack without doubt. You guys are great! Nice seeing dad pop in with his update and fashion segment 😉! You really suffer there in the UK with weather as I am learning. I lived in Germany for a straight 18 years and so understand well. Well for this bike i only dislike, well not dislike but miss, the sound. The boxer sound so flat. Kinda wish it has the signature r18 sound wich is dope. The pototopototopototo. Here it is so linear it sound like a i4. Or on some straight pipes it sound like a tmax 😅 dont know why or how. Some exhaust tho make it sound better.
Your taste in motorcycles is broadening. I have always wanted an RNineT Urban G/S, but they are way too expensive in Thailand. I never change exhausts. It's pointless. The backroads in Portugal are dreadful. I live there for part of the year. That clothing is nice. Just checked the website. Nick
The base price if far too high but with typical BMW pricing, with the add ons people want, the resulting price beggars belief. Its a good bike, yes but at that price it bloody well should be.
If the original NineT didn’t exist, this would be a great model release from BMW, but the original NineT does exist and most would compare it to that. In my opinion the bike lost its soul and character compared to its predecessor. The previous generation NineT was adored by people from all corners of the bike world (triumph rider myself), and the bike really seemed a step away from the “soulless” bikes BMW has in its lineup for years now. The new NineT just feels like a r1250r with a different jacket on.
Very nice, but that TFT is utterly horrible. What is it doing here? You're spot on re our appalling roads in the UK. Clearly, safety is no concern whatsoever, and all the reduced speed limits and cameras are about revenue generation or putting people off travelling.
How coule they? I mean nine t is here for now more than 10years. And they both get market. But triumph speed twin was introduced in response to this bike. Since bonneville were too comfy, thruxton too sporty and triumph was missing some market shares.
@@Fr99763 well with classic kit it look better on bmw but the price tag is dealbreaker. Speed twin or bennville t120 are about 13000€ here in france, bmw is 21000€ minimum!!!! Ffs bmw smoked something. Indian ftr is 15000€ in carbon trim. Moto guzzi v7 racer is 9999€ Kawasaki z900rs ans xsr 900 are 13800€ My ducati monster was 12000€ new and bought it used 9500. Nine t used (a lot with around 40k km or more) cost still a wooping 15k€ No way its worth that amount of money after riding all the bike mentionned.
Lovely looking bike. Sadly the engine looks ugly and like a pair of knackers hanging out... I spent my money elsewhere, but a different engine configuration might have swung it..
I rather buy Z900RS lots of power and character and best part thousands less.I think BMW has moved in Harley mistake of over pricing their bike and losing customers
Beautiful bike but that exhaust is horrid. Euro regulations just ruin everything. That whole thing belongs in the bin it’s a travesty of engineering along with the stunted ridiculous emissions standards. Desk jockeys shouldn’t make decisions those belong in the same bin

who is that old guy at the end?
There may be a clue in the name of our channel
That is a nice Bike sadly I am too tall
how big are you then?? regards
Is this can be a 1 million mile bike?
If you don’t like this, the good news is that the old model will only get cheaper.
Price aside, would you rather have this or the Kawasaki Z900RS?
I’d definitely have this
@@MrDarcy-OlMan looking forward to your thoughts on the R12 vs the R12 NineT
It's very plain compared to the last RnineT. If you ignore the drivetrain, it could be from any manufacturer.
Its a great bike but specced up to my preference, its hitting 16 grand. Ouch.
Very nice, but that TFT is utterly horrible. What is it doing here?
You're spot on re our appalling roads in the UK. Clearly, safety is no concern whatsoever, and all the reduced speed limits and cameras are about revenue generation or putting people off travelling.
Looks like they have copied triumph
How coule they? I mean nine t is here for now more than 10years. And they both get market. But triumph speed twin was introduced in response to this bike. Since bonneville were too comfy, thruxton too sporty and triumph was missing some market shares.
Not with that Boxer engine, it looks horrible.
@@splodge57 matter of taste. Parralel twin or yama 900 looks ideous to me. Some might like them. To you its uggly.
Triumphs look way better. Not that many Bmw’s around
Moto guzzi v7 racer is 9999€
Kawasaki z900rs ans xsr 900 are 13800€
My ducati monster was 12000€ new and bought it used 9500.
Nine t used (a lot with around 40k km or more) cost still a wooping 15k€
No way its worth that amount of money after riding all the bike mentionned.
Subtle? they messed everything good with it.
Lovely looking bike. Sadly the engine looks ugly and like a pair of knackers hanging out... I spent my money elsewhere, but a different engine configuration might have swung it..
Sorry, but the old rninet looks much better!
I rather buy Z900RS lots of power and character and best part thousands less.I think BMW has moved in Harley mistake of over pricing their bike and losing customers
NO ... bmw didn't listen to their biggest complaint about the old one
.... NO FUEL GAUGE ....
i HATE this TFT craze .... round counter team !!!
Beautiful bike but that exhaust is horrid. Euro regulations just ruin everything. That whole thing belongs in the bin it’s a travesty of engineering along with the stunted ridiculous emissions standards. Desk jockeys shouldn’t make decisions those belong in the same bin
no they did not!
