takes balls to call a dealership Dick Lovett.
great informative video as always Bob
He specialises in shaft drive.
Man I was waiting for someone to mention this 😂
Lmao!!!
@@Englishbikerdan got every kind of lube in stock too.
Mike Hunt Suzuki are livid 🤣
40 years of riding, several brands from around the globe and various models then purchased my incredible 2017 R Nine T Scrambler - Satisfaction! This immensely capable machine takes me all distances and terrains without being stressed. Cannot fault these amazing rides.
MOTOBOB !! You condensed all the essentials of 4 models into a concise informative video with visual displays for reference! If I was undecided on one of these, I’m sure this video would’ve helped immensely! Cheers from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺😎👍
The best video I have seen. Each and everything you said was useful, no useless fluff that would force me to skip anything. Thanks for the upload.
Being able to say Dick Lovett with a straight face is worth a thumbs up
Seeing you at these Bristol dealerships takes me back 35 years to when I started riding 😊 Thanks man.
Fantastic video! I really like the original look, black and silver with gold forks, stunning!
You are doing fantastic content and I love the podcast! Thank you from an Idaho, USA Adv rider.
straight to the point. love motobob reviews!
These little bikes are where it’s at! The Rninet isn’t a retro anything, more of a bike BMW made up to commemorate 90years of BMW. This doesn’t take away from the fact it’s an amazing little bike. I’ve always liked the Pure the best. 🤘
This is the better version of R Nine T comparison than the one by BMW on UA-cam. Good job, man!
Comprehensive, relevant and accurate! Bravo and thank you!
Bar none the best break down of the line up, loving the scrambler. Cheers.
Nice Choice there mate and I'm loving that R nineT pure. And also it's under budget for European bike and i can ride it cause I'm short.
Great job on the differentiation of the range. A+++
What I just don't like, at least in Mexico, is how they keep getting more and more expensive without changing one thing. A dash without fuel level nor gear indicator is unacceptable at 13000 USD.
They’ve stayed relatively the same price in US. Mexico’s import taxes are ridiculous.
Put a gear indicator on the speedo I don't need the tach
Here in the Philippines it’s 20000 Usd.
Talk to your elected officials?
Since we are talking USD, inflation has been substantial the last few years. Keeping the price the same would be the same as dropping the price. The price must be raised just to keep parity
...I dropped one during a bike week test ride because they didn't tell me it had no gear indicator. I stalled because I was still in 2nd lmao
Nice 👍 round-up of the models.
Such a good quality video! Great job
Agreed on Urban GS. Beautiful bike.
Thanks for this video Bob. Great. I'd have to choose the low seat height model because of my inside
leg measurement. Would spec it up a touch with silver pin striping on the fuel tank, following the creases.
One could make this machine a real looker.
Urban G/S. I will eagerly await your forthcoming review.
Great video, really helpful to pick the correct one
I test drove a Scrambler today and i loved it, but I think the best value for me is to get the Pure and throw on the $1000 upgrade package. It still saves me $3K off of the scrambler and keeps it lower than the T120 Gold LIne that i also drove.
Scintillating and useful presentation Bro.....My fav is RNineT....what a charming voice!!!! love your voice...
Cool review Rob !
Great video mahn 👍🏻
Really good comparison, thanks.
I wish the scrambler and urban gs had the suspension to allow actual off-road riding
That is for the breakdown Rob. It’s hard to figure out the differences sometimes.
I bought an F800GT recently and love it, wouldn't swap it. Though that Urban GS looks the nuts.
Oh I love an R9T. Great summary, but still can’t decide which one I like best. I think the sadly departed Racer had it on points because of its looks but now, it’s like choosing your favourite child.
scrambler is the better option
The tubeless rims with the spokes off to the edge to keep them tubeless is a neat design. Every now and then BMW does something really clever.
Very informative 👍
I'm saving for one, the retro cafe racer, when I get my hand on one, the first mod that need to be done, is definitely those double stack exhaust.
Real life review on the s1000r pls!!! I’ve ordered the race version but won’t arrive down to us here in OZ till end of July. Dying for review in English :) thanks for all the great work!
Thanks, Dick!
Yes I do have future bikes planned out at every 5k price increases thanks for asking
Great Video 👍 thanks
Very useful. Thanks.
Good review
so shame they discontinued RACE version with the lovely front classic bullet-looking fairing.
This channel is amazing, I think of something, search on UA-cam and there it is 🔥 🔥 🔥
The last model you mentioned also has an aluminum gas tank. I believe all the previous ones have steel tanks.
What considered better?
@@BamfIamone lighter is better
@@aka_pierre with all the ethanol in modern fuel I'd say the aluminum tank is more resistant to corrosion.
well done!
Useful indeed
love the BMW R NineT Urban GS & BMW R NineT!!!
Great video - as always. Cheers ✌️
Nice review of the different models.
If you don't mind searching and perhaps holding off until you find the right one why not save a packet and get a used R 1150 or R 1200.
Urban GS colours are close to my R100GS. Shaft drive arm looks to have been beefed up quite a bit. Performance is more than adequate in the real world. My R80GS was the better all round bike especially with that 32 litre tank that would get me from Melbourne to Canberra most of the way on 1 tank.
Asking the real questions
Great Video. I was thinking about RniteT and then I went to a dealer to try one (urban GS) ...it turned out that the sitting position is too sporty for my taste and the couch is very small (not able to reasonably accommodate a pillion when touring). It looks great and I'm sure that it is perfect for a short solo ride and an instagram photo.. but it is not what I've hoped for -> a do it all contemporary version of R80GS.
Agree, 850 or 750 gs instead.
@hetane That’s a totally fair, and in my experience, accurate, take. I had a 2014, which I ordered the first month they were available. It was a beautiful bike for solo riding, and I wish I hadn’t sold it five years later. But now that I’m a little older, I’d love a more comfortable seating position (even with risers installed I was still doing a lot of leaning forward) and an easier way to mount a bag. I’d love an updated R80GS, but as a shorter dude, I fear the R NineT is BMW’s only practical seat height.
I think they should all come with a rev counter. A bit mean of BMW not to include one considering the price. Otherwise they all look very nice indeed.
Just wish they’d design a proper front mud guard for them 😎
My oldest son came home with a new motorcycle yesterday. Now I want one. As a BMW car driver, here I am.
Dick Lovett best bike dealer in uk!👍
My current bike is Trident 660. And I would like to decide on my next bike purchase but i dont know what i should buy next. I like how thruxton looks. Should I buy a Thruxton?
Personally the normal, USD fork one with the all raw/brushed aluminium option.
Issue is that black specifically on the nineT is the softest black paint In the world
All just lovely.
I will go for trident instead of the base model...but I do like the retro style
trident only if I'm too broke for the rninet lol
i'm gonna get a R9T in a couple weeks, most likely the classic roadster one
Congratulations
A few years ago, Park Lane BMW in London had the met blue and chrome special edition in their window - what a peach! (Apologies for all the nose smudges, drool and finger prints all over the glass!) Other than that, I’ve found the heritage models a bit hit-and-miss... until now! These four make a cracking set! My favourite? Impossible choice, but the flake green scrambler with the lazy geometry and gold rims is more me 👍 Did someone say lazy?! Where do I sign...?
Bmw has a very different design lNguage in the bike world and there are very few that stand out like the ducati. Totally in love with the bmw range of bikes
Nice vid, for me the Pure looksj so clean and tidy. The others are trying too hard. I wonder how hot they run as I live somewhere warm and cook on my little Ducati Scrambler
I can tell you. From riders perspective, not hot at all. The heat from the engine magically goes everywhere BUT you, which took me by surprise.
Now the BIKE on the other hand is tuned so lean that heat can actually shut the bike off if it determines its too hot. I had a moment it was 98degrees and after 30min of spirited riding it shut off at a stop light to keep itself cool. I asked a BMW tech about it and it is a confirmed feature of the bike.
Aren't those the end cans that were created by Akrapovitch specifically for the Yamaha MT03 660 way back in 2006?
They are lovely bikes and I almost bought one, but in the end I went for the 2021 GS1250. I love that retro look and the quirkiness but the GS does all the same and more.
Having no idea of pricing (which can vary country wise) was your GS1250 more or less than the range topper here? Cheers from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺👍
@@darylclifford Hi, I reckon that the GS is a much more expensive bike, and would be around AUD 37,000 with all options. (24k EUR)
I sold my R1250GS to get an rninet, the gs is a good bike don't get me wrong but it lacks character for me. I have way more fun on the rninet. You feel disconnected from the road on the gs.
@@kowalski2334 you are right. I sold my GS and bought a frantic 500 scrambler...fun fun fun 😊
@@tonydare7614 that was quick 😂👍
The one with the dual clocks.I think that’s the Pure.
does the height for the urban GS is the same as per previous year model?
i'll go for the rnint
Brilliant comparison, thx, Regards from Still Bay , South Africa!
i'll have the R NINET with those spoked wheels
are they good for beginner ,big fan
One thing I haven't heard anyone touch upon yet is the sound. I took a 2021 Pure w/Akro out for a demo yesterday and found it a lot more quiet than the previous gen that had cable throttle. Anyone else notice this? I suppose it could be in part to the new Euro E5 emissions standards? I currently have a 2019 Triumph Street Scrambler that has a much more noticeable (and louder!) growl.
I can not decide between r Nine t scrambler and Indian ftr 1200 s.....which one makes more fun ?
Any recommended front fairings for the pure? Did a 900 mi ride on mine and the wind drag was killing me.
The R nine T's are beautiful looking bikes. I almost went for one until I seen the price. Too expensive compared to the Bonneville range.
The bmw logo is worth like 1500 on its own
I want one so bad but you're paying such a premium for a few paint schemes and a bmw badge so I rather spend my money on a triumph or maybe a dual-sport Japanese bike.
The Ducati scrambler is half the price almost and just as good
And that's about what a 1200 thousand mile service will cost!
Fantastic show of the r nine t range. Well, I am German but I have Relatives near Bristol so that I would step over to the BMW Dealership. Thanks a lot for your Analysis (and I subscribed to your channel 😎)
Overall on the 2024 R Nine T Pure base model, Is the dis coloring of exhaust headers a normal running or lean running fuel mixture?
23, the chaos number. Lol.
that dealer name bro i cant 😂
They all look dented from the front. Front fork clearance could have been designed a little better.
Either the scrambler or, more likely, the pure with the brown seat and spoked wheels optioned.. 🤔
Yeah the pure but with the grey tank looks awesome. That scrambler tank job tho! Looks great
Do these RnineT models have tubeless tires? Our dealer in Manila only sells these with inner tubes, and prone to getting stranded on the road.
R Nine T - What is the option for Dual Slip-on Exhaust?
Lol. Dick, love it.
How fast does it go?
So the new version or last year model of the R9T,
Just for price comparison. In Norway, the NineT Pure is £16,000 while the The Scrambler and Urban GS is £16,500. A fully spec'd up NineT Pure is £21,000. That's a Lot of money for a retro bike. That's Superbike territory. The Nine T Roadster is £19,600... Personally, i'd go with the Pure. Clean looks and stylish, combined with that i hit the twisties hard and never go off-road or on tour.
here in Thailand is nearly double that amount so don't complain!
For me only r nine t pure ❤️❤️
My favorite bike but expensive.
This is your local BMW dealership telling you to buy all of them with Option 719 packages
805mm seat height isn't exactly ideal for shorter riders. More like 775-ish
You didn’t talk about the seat height on the last R nine T is it 850
I've got a Racer. Love it. Prettiest of the lot...
Absolutely! 🇬🇧🏍
There is a brand new 2018 R9T Racer at my local motor shop here in Hong Kong....
@@dtcayman Yeah, they were a poor seller, despite their looks... I think they need a really specific height rider to be comfortable. If you're too short they are really stretched out. I'm 184cm and it's a pretty good fit for me.
Rode an Bumblebee Urban GS yesterday. While the built quality is top notch, and the engine is an absolute peach, i couldnt really warm up to it.
It feels a lot heavier than it actually is, probably due to the engine. I really disliked riding it in city traffic.
I would rather buy a Triump Speed Twin or a Guzzi V7.
Speed Twin the perfect bike, except if you are tall... the bike feels small for taller drivers.
Urban GS is the biz, not in that colour though.
The racer...second hand.... or the "simple" black one for me... Can you wrap me one and send it my way? none of the option719 blingbling things. they are all... a little off for me.
?!?!? I went for the Pure and happy as a clam.
Make one for ducatibscamber
Can the R NineT top of the range model seat height be raised at all?
Would the Scrambler be a fair choice for a first bike purchase?
Yes
