Humans leave a trace of themselves in every thing they bring into existence which is why cast iron pans like this are so prized the instant they come off the shelf. Your great-granddaughter might be using it and the tradition handed down is just that much more value added, one more little addition of the human aspect.
Работал в литейке. Чугун плавился в вагранке. До обеда занимались формовкой а когда металл был "на подходе" - разливкой. Сковороды отливали для друзей -знакомых, помимо основной работы. Для себя считал что всегда упею. Но так и ...
еда на чугунной сковороде не пригорает - это плюс, но тепло по ней растекается слабо , получаются локальные перегревы - минус. надо днище делать из аллюминия, а потом - чугун. интересно, такие слойки есть в продаже ?
@@aliklitvinov9316 с чего бы, чугун просто чуть дольше прогревается, достаточно дать сковороде погреться лишнюю пару минут перед началом готовки, теплу особо деваться некуда кроме как прогреть всю сковороду.

Yes, I agree, there is sprue then there is riser. For those who do not know what we are talking about, Google cast iron process and diagrams. There is similar process in jewelry lapidary work.
Yeah, I just posted up about my Gran’s Dutch Oven I inherited. It was made in the 1800’s. Blows my mind that someone could be watching this vid in 2200 to see how their 200yr old pan was made! :)

Shame that Lodge doesn't put the effort in polishing the cooking surface like they did here ( at least they did do some) The Lodge products I've bought usually need a sanding to smooth the inside
I've sworn by Lodge for years. That skillet they are cooking pork belly in at the end of the video isn't any smoother than any lodge product's cooking surface that I've seen. Currently I have a griddle, saucepan, a Dutch oven/skillet combo and 3 frying pans ir different size, ones with a drip lid and they are all the same surface from the casting process. Remember that Lodge is sand cast, not mold cast and then shot cleaned. Metallurgical flux. Just any chemical that will bind to iron oxide and form slag which will float to the top of the crucible and be skimmed off. Sodium borate, zinc chloride, etc.
Pakistani foundry workers are mocked for wearing sandals. But I'd rather wear sandals and stand a couple meters away from the molten metal than wear boots and stand six inches away.
these factories serve a secondary purpose as population thinners . seriously , the most common comment on videos of this type are about the lack of safety , but i'll bet the majority of those commenting buy these goods on a regular basis .
Its a foundry any where in the world they are hot dusty dirty places to work its South Korea look again they are wearing safety equipment it's just so hot they take some of it off 👍

Those are the best ones! Pans that have cooked thousands of meals, milled on the cooking surface, made to cook anything and last forever

Could be MUCH worse. I had to use a welding mask for prepping and pouring aluminized bronze. That stuff makes molten iron look pale by comparison.

used mostly for korean bbq, when you grill porks ,the fat juice gets collected at the centre then you fry kimchi with the fat
