It is a wonderful experience to be able to watch highly skilled craftsmen at work. A good friend of mine spent his life doing art glass paper weights. I spent hours in his shop watching him shape molten glass with precision. We became friends when I shared my woodworking knowledge with him. Truly a pleasure for craftsman from different fields to admire the skills hard won over a lifetime and a testament to our masters.

What is the time it takes to make a set of bowls like that? 3 days, with the heating and cooling periods in between? That is a lovely set GEO CHANG YUGI makes. Are they sold in America?
At 5:30 I might say something like "here the patterns are coated with carbon (soot) so the bronze doesn't stick to the pattern". Something like that. People use black soot like this as a mold release in other casting operations.

beautiful work and excellent craftsmanship, but absolutely brutal to see basically no PPE beyond worn gloves on any of the workers, if the factory is making luxury products (bronze tableware) you'd think they could afford to not give their workers tinnitus and black lung
Actualy bronze casting is clean compared to iron, even in the USA, small bronze foundries don't have any masks. This video is from Korea, these guys are payed well, their work is also recognised as Korean heritage and used in movies and TV shows. I've visited Seoul and Busan in Korea and it's absolutely one of my favorite places on earth, and I would recommend to anyone to spend a few days in seoul if you ever get the chance.
@@paint4pain I'm pretty sure the bag of charcoal powder to keep the mold from sticking isn't clean, and the loud high pitch noises working with a lathe makes will deafen you over time regardless of how beautiful the country you're doing it in is. Despite the naming confusion surrounding the metals (there was no iron, and copper + tin gives brass, whereas copper + zink gives bronze) this was very interesting to watch.
@@dpeter6396 There are bronzes for all occasions! Aluminum Bronze, Silicon Bronze, Phosphor Bronze are all popular. A lot of special formulas have their own names: "Gun Metal, Admiralty Bronze, Low-Fuming Bronze..." And Korean Kitchenware Bronze I guess? It looks good! I bet that box set we saw is a few hundred dollars (a quarter million Won?). I'd be tempted. I wonder if it tends to stay shiny or if you have to polish them?
In Pakistan we get the inside polished with white metal called cully which shines and takes away the toxic & poisones effect. But that only lasts for 12 months.

Stunning craftsmanship. Absolutely beautiful. I would be very happy for bowls like these to grace my dining table.
