I might've missed it in the video, but the Fuji also have a mechanical shutter unlike the Sony while being a tad cheaper (new). Has opengate for video and mechanical shutter for photos, I think as an overall package the Fuji might be a more sensible option over the Sony; ergo and battery life that the Fuji is worse at can easily be rectified, while there's no solution to fill in what the Sony lacks other than getting another camera.
Was going to come and say this if no one else did. :) Biggest downside seems to be AF for fuji. I hope it's much better. I don't think this would be too much of an issue in general at f2.8 and higher. As long as they fix that lost focus and refocus.
@ryanclouse299 someone called ALT CINE did an autofocus test of the X-M5 post launch comparing it to the Sony ZV-E1, and in this particular test/situation it performs surprisingly well (and as he claims it, sometimes better) as the Sony. Seems like the autofocus issue might be overblown, or leftover complaints from the other Fuji bodies.
I bought XM5 for stills, not interest in Fuji video features as pointless without better autofocus. The Sony makes far more sense, I have the A6700, ZVE1, A7RV so the Fuji is just for fun and looks. Of course I've tried the video with the kit lens, 16mm f2.8 and 35mm F2 - random focusing, noisey motors and random exposure jumping. All of which I used to as I have various Fujis XT-30, X100V and X100VI.
Just found your channel. Thank you so much for this comparison
A relevant comparison between manufacturers. Thank you Bob. Personally I like the "E" mount system for the glass choices.
I liked how you explained and compared the two. Thanks!
Very interesting and informative video thanks ..
As always great content!

Both are great. I love them!
Seems like a comparison with the Fuji X-S20 maybe a good one as it also has a big grip and is vary similar tech specs to the X-M5.
But x-s20 price also 50% higher.
@@MT2K244 I just bought the body so only 150 more Ethan the M5. :)
@@DavidMBanes In my country X-S20 body still sale at 1,350 USD while X-M5 with lens are at 1,000 USD
XS-20 is towards the A6700
Good luck getting a xm5
thanks 🙏
