Im glad you brought up the fact about interest rate hikes. The impact of interest rate hikes on the car market has become increasingly evident. Cars that would have been sold within weeks 18 months ago are now sitting on the market for months. This slowdown has led to a decrease in prices across all enthusiast cars. Many individuals purchased these vehicles with variable loans, and now their repayments are being significantly affected. Another contributing factor to the declining car prices is the reluctance of banks to lend money as they did before. Obtaining a $50,000 loan to buy a skyline, silvia, xr6, or any other car has become much more challenging. People are now faced with a difficult choice between keeping their house or holding onto their toy, and often it is the latter that needs to be sold. The overall lack of cash in the economy has further exacerbated this situation. In my personal prediction, car prices will continue to decline for the next 2-3 years, as there is typically a delayed reaction to interest rate hikes. After that period, we may start to see enthusiast car prices gradually rise again, albeit at a much slower rate than before. Therefore, my advice to anyone in the market is to wait until the end of the year or even early next year to secure a good deal. That's the approach I'm personally taking as well.
Agreed, sale of enthusiast used cars are not moving like previously, with many sellers also reluctant to lower from covid prices. Once fixed home loans start expiring later this year etc prices will begin to fall. WA seems to have higher prices due to less economy of scale and less choice of used enthusiast cars. R32 is the version with legit motorsport heritage, r33 meh, r34 just movie hype.

To be honest, I have owned and raced one of Australia's fastest R34GTR's and with a few records acquired. Everyone loved my car........ Except me. Sure it was amazing, extremely low kms, $140k plus spent on mods etc, but to track it and do track days in it was enormously expensive. Like 120-130 dollars per minute in maintenance and running costs. Most people don't realise this and never really understand the reality of owning such a car. I sold it for a profit a few years ago, but nothing for what they go for now and whilst I thought about the "what if's" and sold it now for huge profit, I would have easily consumed that profit in running costs. If I had of just cruised it on weekends and not done track days anymore, yes it would have been a lot better by a mile, but at heart I am a racer and this car should be getting used. It also is not the fastest car on a race track, the chassis and weights is not very balanced to something as good as an MX5 or Lotus etc and the RB engine is too long and heavy up front for a proper front end feel. I had my day in a 34 and 33 GTR and whilst I enjoyed it and went fast, I don't miss them for one minute, the popularity is driven by Fanboys and mania than a real engineering masterpiece, because the reality is, they are not as fast as many people believe and much more development could have gone into them in a few key areas. Sure I could easily smash GT3RS Porsches and 458 Ferraris etc by a few seconds per lap, but when you start looking at fully modified MX5's for a fraction of the cost for building and maintaining, the GTR makes little sense. I sold my last GTR and bought a 510kg LMP3 Sports Prototype and whilst I am 6 seconds per lap faster around a 1 minute race track, I can do it for atleast 1/6th of the running costs. If you want to just look cool and want the attention of every other amateur car enthusiast, sure buy one. But if you want to actually go fast and do it wisely, there are plenty of other ways to do it. Thanks for the video mate. BTW, I did a 55 around Wanneroo years ago in my LMP3 car. I never ran the GTR there sadly, but a 1min dead or 0:59 would have been possible I reckon.
GTT in normal conditions is so much better to drive in normal roads!! I have the R33 GTR and it’s a nightmare for me to drive 😅 I have the r34 GTT and it’s smooth especially dealing with LA traffic as a new Manual drive

Picked up a 98 er34 sedan gtt. Rb25det neo6 turbo, 63k kilometers which is about 39k us miles. Me I prefer the 4 door cause it’s more practical than the coupe and I’d say I spent 3-4 times less than a coupe gtt 8 times less than a gtr 😂 My 4 door was graded a 4 exterior out of 5 and B interior out of A grade. Should be reaching Hawaii on July 8th. I’m stoked!
Yeah mate these things will be loved until the end of time, especially the older models they're really something else they look the part & drive even better,I bet everyone enjoyed this one cheers buddy.
Most people would never be able to tell the difference between a GTT and GTR when driven. The difference gets greater as power increases and you push the envelope but you can't do that on the road anyway
People sleep on the R34 GTT but stock for stock, it was just as fast as the R33 GTR... The Neo VVL engine is beautiful. So for all those that look down on the GTT, you'd better wake up. It's a lethal weapon tuned right and in the right hands
I'm sorry but if you think R34 GTT will keep up with the R33 GTR you're dreaming. Even the R34 GTR is not that good compared to the R33 GTR because the R34 GTR was meant to have a V6 motor instead of the same RB26DETT engine from the R33 GTR. So really the R33 GTR is king 👑 This video proves it - ua-cam.com/video/utaaPbiyi2w/v-deo.html

I wouldn't think interest rates would affect prices much, at least not directly, because you're probably not buying these cars on finance/credit. Cost of living in general, the car market in general, some people being forced to sell their toys, well, maybe. All of that stuff is going to push prices around. I've long anticipated that the prices will go up when America can import them. Glad I've hung onto mine. Already had 2 people leave notes on it with their phone numbers asking if I want to sell it - and I didn't even have to drive it anywhere, it was parked in my own driveway. Edit: Also, for anyone considering one .. Don't hack it up to make a GTR replica. Just don't. There's way more difference than just the engine, gearbox and AWD. The interiors and seats are different, the bodies are different (GTRs are wider), panels are different (some aluminum vs steel), the wheels are different, the brakes are different, the battery is relocated, honestly the only parts that are the same are probably the glass and the door handles and that's about it. People will pick fakes a mile off. Be true to the car, keep them clean, mod them tastefully at most, treat them with respect.
Definitely interest rates have played a part in the car market lately.. it’s not that people are financing them it’s that they have much less extra income due to higher rates on their mortgages
The R34 GTTs are going to "sky" rocket more. The flood gates open 2024 and GTR prices are already climbing well ahead of super car prices. Pretty safe investment.
When floodgates open the flow tends to be heavy only at the start. They're climbing now because dealers/investors have stockpiled them waiting for 24. And yes prices will stiffen, but for how long?
@@MrGrentch really depends on multiple factors, but the market is pretty set currently. We are seeing a used car market correction, but current economic trends don't show a recovery anytime soon so buying power is low.
I have owned a r34gtt and 34gtr and a 32gtr. None of them are worth what they are now. 34gtr is a lot better than a gtst or gtt, the 6 speed makes it so much better on boost and very easy to drive daily which I used to do. 32gtr was very laggy. Good as a weekender.
Please don't put a GTR "body kit" on that car. The Altia kit is peak for these cars, and way more unique. Destroying them is destroying a piece of history.
@@RossReviewsau As much as i love any skyline its just mind boggling to me to spend so much money on a sub 300hp vehicle. Especially when you are in R35 territory. I would spend 70k on a R35 before i pay 50k for a non GTR. You gotta put in at least 15k to make the GTT viable. It just doesn't make sense at a logical level to pay so much for a platform that has a limit for what you can do to push it to its max of 500hp for a rb25, especially when you can buy a G/V35 for dirt cheap and build a 500hp vq or swap whatever in it for half the cost of importing a gtt.
@@carlinleneker-frisch976 Common take but sometimes it's about more than just going fast, otherwise you may as well go engine swap some old beater. Any Skyline is bad value for money if performance is all you care about. A GTR is even worse value for money, if that's your metric.

Let’s all be honest how is this a good time to buy a car never mind having 50k laying around for a car. People are struggling now days to live underneath a roof never mind buying a 50k car 🤦🏻♂️
Well, sure if you are looking at buying one of these on a loan that might be a very poor financial decision - but yeah, a lot of people do have $50K in the bank to spend on a car - and a lot more to be fair. Personally I have been paying cash for cars for the last 20 years, because usually borrowing money on a car is a double-loss situation - you lose on depreciation, and you lose on interest. Last couple of years have been wacky with low interest, and many cars that were depreciating suddenly appreciating for a number of reasons - but that's now going back to the status quo as interest rates skyrocket and the global supply chain recovers.
Some people do have the disposable money, its not a good financial decision but take myself for example i work massive hours as a boilermaker and can afford to buy a toy for the weekends. Can't take ya money to the grave thats the way I look at it.
I imported my r34 25GT-V coupe with grade 4 body 110k original km back in 2018 for only 9k CAD, GTt+manual was only 20k, now people ask 55+k for it, its not worth it at all, its a 20+ yrs old car it needs maintenance and getting parts is tough and expensive, better off buying new Z400 or Supra or even type R instead.
I have my GTT for 15years now. Still as happy as the first day.

I agree
Hey Johnny...great review.....nice car ...dont know much about these cars...but sure they would have alot of potential....in power upgrades.....gota love forced induction...
Was a really enjoyable car to drive this
Getting closer to finishing my r34 for you to review 😈
great video, juat purchased mine. i do believe there will be a price jump
Nice buy
As always amazing content love watching your videos keep up your wonderful work thank you brother …
Much appreciated
I love my GTT had it for 10 years and makes about 800HP
Wow that’s very serious power 👏
Yeah and i still drive it to work 2 of my mates have over 1000HP! @@RossReviewsau
You’ve still got it mate!
🙏😮💨
Honestly if these weren't so common I'd probably say they'd be a smart investment. 50-70K for a GTT is insane.
Amusingly, by production numbers, they're almost equally as common as GTRs.
@@Chaosvex That makes it even worse
I bought one for 25k. It currently has 50,000 kms on it. Been a great investment for me
I love this Skyline R34 my color Blue❤
It’s beautiful 🤩
Ah this was worth the wait! Good on you Ross for raising the buyers awareness get one while you can guys I would if it was me
Glad you enjoyed this video
Great review John. I was wondering that particular spot that you like to stop and have a chat with your subscribers is covered in skid marks and heaps of rubber. Do you know anything about the donuts there. Now cmon Jono be honest. Lol.
Picked up a 98 er34 sedan gtt. Rb25det neo6 turbo, 63k kilometers which is about 39k us miles. Me I prefer the 4 door cause it’s more practical than the coupe and I’d say I spent 3-4 times less than a coupe gtt 8 times less than a gtr 😂
My 4 door was graded a 4 exterior out of 5 and B interior out of A grade. Should be reaching Hawaii on July 8th. I’m stoked!
Yeah mate these things will be loved until the end of time, especially the older models they're really something else they look the part & drive even better,I bet everyone enjoyed this one cheers buddy.
Totally agree
Most people would never be able to tell the difference between a GTT and GTR when driven. The difference gets greater as power increases and you push the envelope but you can't do that on the road anyway
Even the 25 gt will be turned into GTR reps, prices for ALL R34s will shoot up
People sleep on the R34 GTT but stock for stock, it was just as fast as the R33 GTR... The Neo VVL engine is beautiful. So for all those that look down on the GTT, you'd better wake up. It's a lethal weapon tuned right and in the right hands
Nobody really looks down on any turbo skyline. The only ones people laugh at is the NA auto ones
So really the R33 GTR is king 👑
This video proves it - ua-cam.com/video/utaaPbiyi2w/v-deo.html
@@33takeover Weird take. Stock for stock, the 34 is the faster and mechanically superior car. There isn't much in it but claiming that it's not as good as the 33 because it has the same engine is weird.
@@Chaosvex Thats only because you always see the side of people hating on the R33 because of a cartoon 😂
@@33takeover Could also just be that I know a thing or two about cars that I have experiences with.
I had an 1985 mr30 . Best car with an l28 in it . The new ones were rusty crap . The shock towers and firewalls rust aswel as the rockers . Always wanted a dr30 with fj20det in them .
Toyota 79 Dual Cab Is My Favourite Car Ross And Have You Done A 79 Review Yet
Thanks mate
@@RossReviewsau All Good 👍 Bro
a standard gtt on thailand is around 4.9 milion bhat or usd 142k.
same goes in malaysia.
💀💀💀 god damn
Dreamin. They're not that good. If that's a 142k my R33 GTST is worth 200k and that gets more looks than a R34 ever could
This is gonna be a 6 figure car!!!!
4 grade low km in Japan $80000
I would agree for a clean example
I've always loved the gtr but prices are ridiculous which means people are too scared use them how they are meant to be used
Im really thinking about trading my sti for a cummins and finance one of these
I'm hoping the lower interest rates will make my R34 GTT sky rocket prices again, currently insured for $50,000.
It’s not a $50k car..
Nice vid but you missed the V35-V37 Skylines. R35 is not a Skyline
Body kit is Altia, not the Nismo S-Tune
I know the R35 is not technically a skyline but most people go to them not a G35-7 I’ve reviewed a couple of them great cars but no turbo 🥲
@@RossReviewsau idd, the V35 & V36 werent great but the V37 Skyline 400R (or Q50 RS in the rest of the world) had the VR30DDTT baby GT-R engine before the new Z-Car🙂
Sold an R34 GTT for $14k 10+ years ago... imagine..
💀💀💀
14k 10years with inflation and compound interest+opportunity upside today may be worth 28k to 40k. Not a loss just a choice
Grand turismo made this legendary not Paul Walker or fast and furious. They just added to the legend
Paid cash for mine
I miss my 34 GTT 😢
🥲
Looks quite nice
Clean 34
@@RossReviewsau definitely
Little bit lighter for sure. easier and cheaper to maintain.
Definitely!
do i have to cut the rear fender or can i just slap on a gtr body panel
The R34 GTTs are going to "sky" rocket more. The flood gates open 2024 and GTR prices are already climbing well ahead of super car prices. Pretty safe investment.
I think so
When floodgates open the flow tends to be heavy only at the start. They're climbing now because dealers/investors have stockpiled them waiting for 24. And yes prices will stiffen, but for how long?
@@MrGrentch really depends on multiple factors, but the market is pretty set currently. We are seeing a used car market correction, but current economic trends don't show a recovery anytime soon so buying power is low.
still great fun and great cars, but they are 3x the price they are really worth.
yup over priced but are great cars
"I had to do it" 😂
Had too
Jonno your Barra turbo would chop this surely??
my barra would easily
I have owned a r34gtt and 34gtr and a 32gtr. None of them are worth what they are now. 34gtr is a lot better than a gtst or gtt, the 6 speed makes it so much better on boost and very easy to drive daily which I used to do. 32gtr was very laggy. Good as a weekender.
1999 - 2002 Skylines also came in 4 door? and Automatic ?
Yes and yes
Correct
And vvt!
Please don't put a GTR "body kit" on that car. The Altia kit is peak for these cars, and way more unique. Destroying them is destroying a piece of history.
Manual & turbo swap sedan 232000km , was auto na factory starting bid in Japan $18000
I paid 4200 for my G35 to basically have the same performance as a gtt but way cheaper
i like G35s
@@Chaosvex oh i agree, its about value for the money and i cant think of any other vehicle you can buy for 3500 thats rwd, with a 6 speed, leather, and a sunroof.
Not even the same comparison buddy
r 34 series is the most beautiful skyline series r 35 is a bit like a market job r 34 is a privilege even just the taillights look like they come from another planet gtt, gtr does not matter
Good looking 🤌
At this time I found a GTT for 17k. Turbo charged, and it ran and drove well.
That’s cheap.. aud?

Lol, imagine spending 50k+ on a “jApAnEsE iCoN”, only to be chopped by an $8000 NA FG XT…
I don’t think an NA XT will be chopping this at any point

@@buildingcarsissohard1813 still happy for you guys to finally get cars you wanted for years dont get me wrong
First thing as long as the car hasn’t been ran to death and clapped out
The GTR or and variant was never meant to be “comfortable” or Luxurious example in 1999 the car came with a GPS and a tech gauge head unit in 1999 and outside of that inside it was a 1999 Nissan point being they made this car to use your hands and imagination and make it what it’s mean to be a 🦆’ing beast
Way over priced, But if your talking GTR I'd take an R35 for a reasonable price, it's is a completely different breed, hand built perfection
I love the R35 but 2 very different cars
@@RossReviewsau completely different ends of the spectrum, could be a fun review though
Ive seen old R34 GTT even GTR ads on car sales for ridiculous prices and as much as the sellers brag about the US people wanting them, they are not selling its as simple as that. Whoever is saying they are selling for +$50,000 - $250,000 or more are just straight up lying
Let’s all be honest how is this a good time to buy a car never mind having 50k laying around for a car. People are struggling now days to live underneath a roof never mind buying a 50k car 🤦🏻♂️
It’s never the perfect time to buy… also a lot of people still have a huge amount of money to spend
Can't take ya money to the grave thats the way I look at it.
i love R SSAN GTR😈💥🔥🇯🇵🚀💦😍😎

Not worth the price sorry. The r34 gtr is Godzilla and the r34 gtt is godzookie his son that blow smoke puffs😂😂
I’d rather spend 50k on a 600bhp GTT than 200k on a stock gtr.
@@mapple4910 that’s true. Just make sure your not paying 60k for a gtt ✊🏾
The r33 gtst at least shares tons of parts with other Nissans of its era. R34 parts are so specific plus Paul walker tax
