Over 10 years later, and you're still helping us! Thank you! I just ordered a replacement mast from your ebay store! I got my 2002 NB from my Dad after my accident in December with my 2019 Sonic. It's auto and aged, but truly the best and easiest vehicle I've owned! Wish it was stick like my Sonic was, but oh well. Thank you again for all you do for us fellow Miata enthusiasts!
I’ve used this video twice now for 2 different Miata’s thanks for the info
Thank you very much for this video. It is incredible how you are still helping after 14 years!! Clear instruction. I had to figure out how to remove the sleeve but I could finally managed. Now the antenna is working perfectly and our Mazda looks amazing again!
You helped me ten years later. Much appreciated!
As others have noted, you glossed over the MOST IMPORTANT PART: how to get the sleeve and bushing off. In your video you just say "presto, I have a sleeve and bushing ready to go". Else, the video is very helpful, thanks
12 years later this video helped me changed my broken antenna, thanks Mike!!
I love the Internet! Thank you for posting such clear directions on replacing the antenna. I pulled mine out, and there was NO plastic lead attached. This video, and part two on removing the motor and fishing out the broken lead, let me do my own work with confidence. Now I can watch the mast go up and down, up and down...
I bought the part from Miata King and it arrived very promptly. Watched the video to refresh myself on the procedure. Had it repaired in less time than the video takes to watch. Thanks for the very clear repair instruction video!
Mike u are the Man! I' m a 46 yr old housewife. The leader was broken and a mech wanted 200. To fix it. U saved me 160 bucks. You're video was great. Took about 45 min.
thank you
You are a great teacher, Mike, and you do it with style! Thanks.
Stopped by Mikes place today to pick up an antenna. It was nice chatting with you and installed my antenna with the help of your video. Thanks again
Mike, thank you so much for this vid! I had a slightly bent antenna and held of on replacing it because it otherwise worked fine, until a friend accidentally snapped it off walking out of the driveway. Thanks to your video, the most frustrating part of the whole process was finding a replacement antenna mast for my 2003 nb that could be delivered during my weekend. That, and worrying the nylon holding the antenna in place might snap during my commute.
It’s 2022 I just bought my first Miata ever, 1999 5 speed. My antenna broke in a car wash the second day… but thanks to you sir I purchased your antenna on eBay and I fixed it all myself.
The most informative video yet on replacing a power antenna mast. Information applicable to any make of vehicle. And great tip about straightening the end of the nylon leader before insertion! Thanks!
Just watched your 2 videos on antenna repair. I have a 95 M-edition, only 49k miles! Previous owner tried repair but mast didn't fully retract. I took the motor apart, referenced your videos often, fished out the old nylon lead in the gear, put everything back together! My only issue is the mast itself is a very tight fit & I had trouble getting it in the sleeve. It's all back together, functions, but the nut didn't tighten down quite as securely as I think it should. Thanks for GREAT videos!
Thank you very much, Mike! Followed your video and got my ‘95 NA antenna mist replaced and now it works! Victor from Taiwan
Thanks so much for this video. I can't thank you enough.
Thank you for making my mast replacement a piece of cake. Video made all the difference.
Hi Mike, I got my antenna mast in the mail and fitted it. One thing I found was a great tip was i tried to feed it in but it didnt work it would take the leader about an 2 cm and then stop. I cut a little peice off the leader about 3mm, but it still didnt work, so I cut it at 45 degree angle, and bingo it took it straight away. Thanks again for your videos, I will have ago at a few more things. James in Australia / Red 1995 MX5 Miata.
