  • This is the Nisssan Frontier differential finale. The rebuild took place in three videos and I will add a link in the video corner to the previous video. In this video I installed the axle bearings, slid the axles in, installed the cover, and bolted the driveshaft back onto the differential housing. I show what the tool is that you need to remove the axle bearings but I did not get my tool in time to use it so I had to cut them off.
    Axle Bearings: 43210-EA200

    Hello First of all thank you for this series!
    Quick question how much would the rebuild cost me if I pay someone. I got quoted $2000 for a used replacement + Labor. Was wondering what would hurt my pockets less.
    Thank you!

      Yout welcome and thank you for watching it. It calls for 9 hours of labor and at 150/hr, average shop cost near me, it would be like 1300 for labor and then the parts were around 600 for everything so it could be around the same and you would have brand new parts rather than another used unit that could be bad or go bad shortly after install

      Check for any movement in the pinion gear. This can cause a noise if the bearing is bad. Also, drain your fluid to see if there is any metal in the fluid. Let me know what you find and I can guide you further to help diagnose your issue.

    Did it fix the noise issue?

    If the backlash isn't correct how do you adjust it, also where did you order your parts from and where did you find the axle bearing tool?

    • @operationoverhaul
      @operationoverhaul  2 роки тому

      To adjust the backlash, you need to add or remove shims on the sides of the carrier under the caps. The parts were ordered from nissanwholesaledirect.com the parts are still factory oem but way cheaper. The bearing tool I ordered on Amazon but never received it so I had to torch my old ones off. It is not an easy task to torch these off but it is do-able. I have used the tools before and want to say be careful if you get one as these bearings are extremely dangerous. I have seen them explode while removing them. If you can find a local shop machine shop to press them on and off, that may be a better option. If you have any other questions just let me know

    Hi, I'm sorry for the bad spelling, i am from Russia. i really need your help with part number.
    Oil seal of the rear gearbox shank? Between the driveshaft and the rear axle. Maybe this one 38189-P0117?! My rear axle vent jock me, it
    Is clogged, and the oil seal flowed!

      @operationoverhaul  2 роки тому

      Yes, that is the correct part number for the seal you need for this differential. You will also need to purchase a new crush sleeve. The part number is 38165-8S100

    Thank you so much for this series question I have a 07 Xterra with the same differential I hear a noise coming from the back around 60 mph to 65 after 65 it gets quieter but it's still there once I let go of the accelerator is completely gone but as soon as I step on the gas again it comes back could this be a differential problem if so what part of the differential could cause this to happen any help would greatly be appreciated thanks again

      You're welcome and thank you for watching. Also, is the noise like a roar or is it more like a grinding noise?

      @@cesarprado6943 I would check the pinion gear for any bearing play or movement, check the rear wheels for movement that would indicate wheel bearing failure, then if that seems good I would drain the fluid and look for any debris that would indicate internal bearing or gear failure.
