Nissan Titan M226 Rear Axle *COMPLETE REBUILD*

  • In this video we rebuild a Nissan Titan M226 rear axle. These rear ends are prone to breaking. The first rear end I encountered had broken spider gear inside the carrier. The second rear end I bought had a sheared holding pin in the carrier. This isn't as prominent in 2008-present trucks but it can happen to any M226 rear including the Nissan Armadas and other vehicles. Hopefully this helps you tackle this issue if it arises.

    One of the best videos on the M226 rebuild/replace! Thank you! Rebuilding my 2012 Titan using a Yukon DuraGrip limited slip differential. Quite the endeavor, especially when I found the reason my diff broke was that someone was in their and did it all wrong. So my shims on the existing pinion were all wrong. Had to revert to trial and error on the shim settings.

    Hi, your video is pretty informative, my spider gears are delaminating so I'm rebuilding it. You mentioned at the end of your video that you could source a factory carrier if I understood you correctly but according to Nissan it doesn't exist anymore for the M226. I'm going with a Yukon DuraGrip limited slip and their master rebuild kit. My ring and pinion are still good.

    Hello I have a question about which Eaton Part Number did you go with. I presently have a 2010 LE with No Electronic. Just an Open 12 Bolt M226 yet I ordered Eaton's part # 913A582 twice and keep getting a Rear Carrier that doesn't have an opening for the C Clips. Did You have a different part number or did you not have to install the C Clips for the Axels. Sorry to bother but my truck is down for a 2 months now and it seems I may have to go with another brand. 😩

    Hey isn’t the backlash for the m226 between 8-13 thousands of an inch? I have a 04 LE with the big tow package 4x4. I did the break in and have about 10k miles on my 3.36 gears and Truetrac now at around 30+ I can hear a hum when I let off the gas. I tried setting my backlash to the FSM again and again and it comes back after a few hundred miles as if it loosens up. Im not to sure what to do at this point. Im using timken and Koyo Japan made bearings. Should I tighten the backlash up even more?

    • @loluracing
      @loluracing  3 роки тому +1

      I set my backlash to whatever my FSM says. I don't remember exactly what that was. I have not checked mine since I put it together but I have about 5k miles on mine and I hear no weird noises. I can only think of two ways this could be happening, 1) the pinion is shifting forward, 2) the carrier is shifting to the side. Pinion issues could be cause by a failing bearing or crush sleeve. Carrier issues could be due to bearing failure or loose preload adjusters. Preload and backlash are set together. If there is not enough preload the backlash could loosen. I would say if your preload is correct when you set backlash, and your preload adjusters locks are not coming loose is an issue with your pinion. DM me on IG if you want to talk over it some more.

    • @loluracing
      @loluracing  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure what your question is here or what issue your trying to solve. The m226 rear ends are all the same except for axle thickness in different years and perch height in different models. That's the only differences I noticed. Even if someone replaced the rear end the axle lengths should be the same.

    • @jordantaylor9858
      @jordantaylor9858 2 роки тому +1

      Assuming your 05 has the E-locker. The driver side axle is shorter and passenger side is longer. The open diff Titan rear end has equal length axles (34.03in I believe). The tru trac was designed for the equal length open diff axles. If replacing the e-locker with tru trac you will need to purchase 2 34.03in axles for proper fitment. Otherwise you will have to shim out the passenger side axle and the short driver side axle splines will not make full contact.
