    Hey buddy. Nice job. Just have a question. I am doing the exact same job on my E250 coupe 2009. I have purchased the parts from Ebay from a Chinese supplier. I just installed the adjusters but when I turn the crankshaft to go for a check 360 Deg to see if the lines mach, actually the adjusters keep passing the chain and playing. Like when I turn the crank the intake camshaft keeps still for a few degrees and then jumps back to turn. Can you help me on this plesas. I suspect it may be the parts.

    I’ve been hearing some whirring at idle and when I shift into reverse and I’m assuming it’s the transmission. I’ve read up on some forums and found out that it could be the sump clogged up with some material which can only be fixed by pulling the transmission. All of this research eventually brought me to this video to figure out how to pull this thing out. But before I do, can anyone tell me if I should pull the transmission or if I should try an alternative before going for it?

    I done this job today much quicker without removing the exhaust. Remove the top and front metal exhaust gaskets. Pull the front one down from under the car to get it out. Get a long pry bar. Move the last rear metal exhaust gasket forwards just by the filter housing. You can now see the hidden 8mm bolt. Use a 8mm flat ratchet spanner. You can easily get to the 1st, 3rd and 4th bolt by feel using your hand. Use a short extension on 1/4 ratchet. All the best.

    Hi , after i torque the chain tensior to 40 Nm and remove the Timing holding tool, you said to rotate it over 15 degrees , is Counter clockwise or Clockwise ? and do i need to hold the camshaft with t100 torx socket while rotate to 15 degrees? Thanks in advance

    • @operationoverhaul
      @operationoverhaul 6 днів тому

      You want to rotate it clockwise and you do not have to hold the t100 while rotating. You can use the crank bolt to rotate it over. This is done just to make the tensioner actuate and apply tension.

My daughter’s car started making the rattling noise at the the 1st start of the day and it is good after that. i changed the oil and filter and also replaced the battery. It is somewhat better but not completely. My question to you is, if the timing chain tensioner is faulty, can it be changed without changing the chain? Will that solve this problem? If so should everything be removed a as you showed on your video, or should one only remove the alternator and replace the tensions? Or that wont work? Thank you. I appreciate your reply.

    • @operationoverhaul

      First of all thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it. Secondly, if it is truly just a tensioner that is at fault then you could just change the tensioner by removing the alternator and doing it that way. You should fine to remove it without any issues as long as the chain has not jumped timing.

This was a really early video for me and I was still learning, still do on every video, what needed to go into the videos and what needs to be taken out. I will say that was a loud rubbing sound as if you had a flat tire or even like you were driving on a rough road, almost like gravel.

      You can get dirt and debris inside of the bellhousing and it can eventually cause build up and possible front pump seal damage or rear main seal damage. Those are extreme cases but it is possible. I'm pretty sure that you can find one in a junkyard and get one.

    I went to go do this job after seeing my oil pressure light start to flicker- but when the we drained the oil there is some fine silver particles in it. U think the bearings are toast? How $$ is fair for a lower end rebuild ? 2wd

    • @operationoverhaul
      @operationoverhaul 20 днів тому

      It could be bearing material but it could be a few other things as well. It may be mostly bearing material though. If it is, you are looking at about 5.5 hours to do main bearings and if you do rod bearings with it, then you are looking at another 1.5 hours of labor. So, on the low side I would say about 650 and high side could be upwards of 1k+.

    Thanks for making this vid. Considering doing this myself, but since I don’t have a vacuum pump I’m kind of hesitant. Maybe dumb question but would it matter if I started the car after installing everything and drove it somewhere to get the vacuum portion of this job done by someone else?

    • @operationoverhaul
      @operationoverhaul 20 днів тому

      If you take it somewhere they will more than likely want to vacuum and charge the system at the same time. You could buy a pump for about the same price, if not cheaper, than someone would charge to do that.

      @@operationoverhaul I banged the front bottom area of my transmission on the road, bad pothole plus shitty road, and it smashed it up. I was able to drive on a bit, maybe 1 or 2 minutes, and when I stopped at a stop sign, I couldn't go again. Is that just cuz I lost a lot of transmission fluid? It did leak the whole way, but I was able to drive on until I stopped on purpose. It didn't force me to stop thru being fucked up, I stopped at a sign. But then it wouldn't go again, and upon further inspection, I saw all the transmission fluid, so I pushed it off to a parking lot. The part that's smashed up looks like that black plastic thing, the pan, but I don't know for sure, and mine isn't on the bottom, it's on the front facing side. I didn't hear any grinding fucky noises from anywhere, I didn't even have a flat tire, which is what I expected from the pothole, so yeah....replace one piece and fill it back up with transmission fluid? I hope so. Thanks for letting me ask, I don't have much faith in Google results since I still don't know what I'm lookin at
