    Thanks for the video. Just did my driver's front bearing on my 2WD. I couldn't fit my impact behind the hub, but maybe I didn't turn the wheel enough. It was easier than I thought to use a breaker bar on the hub bolts and caliper torque member bolts. Got the speed sensor clip off with a small needle nose squeezing from the very top. To bust the hub loose I hammered from behind the hub on the rear side (caliper side) of the control arms, but the other side is blocked by the dust plate. I ended up hammering on a 6" or 9" extension against the back of the hub through the sensor cable hole of the dust plate to get it loosen up.

    As a DIY'er I too have spent longer on connectors than the main job on various repairs. It can be incredibly frustrating. I think there should be a web site devoted to how to undo all the different kinds of connectors on different brands of vehicles. It could be a wiki, where everyone contributes. I think that web site would have tons of traffic if word got out that it existed!

    • @therealchayd
      @therealchayd 5 років тому +1

      Had a similar issue on mine; noisy as anything, but no play, and no noise with the car in the air and no load on the bearing. A set of chassis ears clipped on each bearing carrier and a quick test drive soon pinpointed the culprit. When stripping the bearing down, there were two massive divots in the ballrace. Probably thanks to all them winter potholes.

    I recently bought my own "Big Nasty" to use here on the farm... My daughter saw the box and wanted to know what is in it.. .. told her it was an air hammer... as I opened it up.. told her it had a nickname ":Big Nasty" her eyes got big... and she said " I call it Big Beast" .. .. yeah I almost cried .. oh and she is 10 !

    At the start of the video you wiggled the tire, as if that helped understand the problem, but when completed you wiggled the tire again. So is that the sign, or is there some other issue? Thanks for video info. Taking off the ABS plug drove me crazy, like you mentioned.

    Can't wait for that astro prototype to be released. Looks/sounds like a beast. I had the IR one before. It was decent, but couldn't touch brake caliper bracket bolts. This one sounds like it may have some power
