LIVE! Heracross Only - Pokemon Crystal
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 вер 2024
- Spoiler warning! This playthrough will be featured in a playthrough later in 2024.
Rules:
1. Only my starter in battle
2. No items in battle, except held items
3. No glitches, exploits, or save states
4. No movepool evasion-boosting moves before level 100*
Rule details:
-- I make no attempt to have the exact same rule details between generations.
-- I am allowed to manipulate my starter
-- I play the game at 4x game speed
-- For fair comparisons my Pokemon have perfect (or near perfect) DVs / IVs
-- I am allowed to catch HM users - I can use all field moves
-- Evasion boosting is allowed if the move is not obtained from the Pokemon’s movepool. For example, using Mimic or Mirror Move to boost evasion is allowed.
-- Surge's trash-can-puzzle is automatically solved
-- The bike is allowed in gen1 & 4, banned in gen2, and allowed only to bypass terrain in gen3
-- Saving between league members is allowed
-- I can pause the game and timer to take breaks
-- Items obtained with the ability Pickup can only be used if the starter obtained them
-- The footage is sped up & slowed down to match the pace of my narration
These Rule details apply only to generation 1:
-- All battle-mechanic glitches are allowed (glitches that occur outside of battle are banned)
-- In generation 1, I'm allowed to skip Marowak with the Poke Doll

If you're new around here, Venomoth is a Psychic/Flying type, you can't change my mind.
The slow growth rate discussion gave me an idea for a vs video. (But a gimmick one, maybe for April fools or something). Take a Slow growth rate pokemon and race it against itself but with the fast growth rate, just to show how much of a difference it makes.
If you want to make the race itself actually matter beyond "The faster growth rate will make it finish THIS MUCH faster" then you could put some other major limitation on the fast growth rate pokemon. Because of this run I was thinking Slow growth rate Heracross with Hidden Power vs Fast Growth Rate Heracross without it could be interesting as you'd have this video to show how much of a difference Hidden power makes in the mid-game to be able to point to to say that the growth rate was more of a factor or less of a factor that the most powerful move in Gen 2 solo runs
"next time it disconnects, we're gonna just ru-"
legendary.
Gen 7 is a fun nostalgia generation, but boy does it suck to replay. Recently got my hands on Ultra Sun and Moon on my path to rebuild a collection I had to sell as a young man to survive. There's some REALLY good Gen. 7 romhacks that stay really true to base game while mostly removing cutscenes, Scott. Honestly, it's probably the best way to re-experience Alola, a criminally under explored region imo.
What mods are you referring to?
@@xela12345 sure! They're called Nova/Supernova Sun and Umbra Penumbra Moon. Those were probably my favorite, so far. They're like Drayano hacks, but also aim to fix the pacing issue Gen. 7 has at points by editing cutscenes or removing them. There's a few like Nuzlock based ones out that do the standard battle gauntlets and no EV's that are pretty fun. I was surprised, myself, to find out how deep the 3DS romhackers had got with it. I'd highly recommend checking it out for yourself.
I want to know too. Never played it, I would like to, but not with that many cutscenes.
@@xela12345 that's weird. I thought I replied. There's a Drayano like romhack called Nova/SuperNova Sun and Umbra/Penumbra Moon which aimed to fix a lot of said issues. There's a Nuzlock focused one called.... Eternal Sun I believe which does the standard battle gauntlets plus no EV's. There is a few more I'm forgetting to mention here, but you can just Google all this relevant info from here.
@@iskander0725 I don't know why, but I can't see it.
I actually really enjoy hearing the keyboard clicking. I had asked in a different stream what you do to keep the button-mashing sounds from coming through, and turns out the answer is "dont have a crazy-sensitive mic." 😂 But I also appreciate the sounds in showing how skilled you are at the game and making precise movements, especially in dark caves.
The strategy for the final battle may have been very silly, but very flavorful indeed. I'm excited for what the future video featuring Heracross has in store!
Heracross is my favorite Pokemon, but yes, he's stunted by the gen 2 movepool. I use him on my team practically every casual playthrough of each gen, and gen 4 and on, hes a sweeper with the right moveset.
I used him on an all bug team with a speedboost, swords dance, sash, boton pass, ninjask. It was broken.
Big time improvement, congratulations.
I’ve been saying, fury cutter is massively underrated
Last time I played Gold, I went and got Heracross early. Threw fury cutter on it, and it's actually a good stand in until you get Mega horn. You're bulky enough to stick around a few turns until it can snowball, and the power coming off of that attack stat is amazing.
@@browncow5210 yeah, it’s unexpectedly strong. I think people give up on it because it feels bad to use at first and they think it had less accuracy than 95%, but if your opponent has multiple Pokémon you couldn’t one shot with another move, you come out ahead in the math after you build power. Unlike rollout, it just stays at 160 bp until you miss, with STAB that’s 240 into a neutral target.
Imagine a fighting type Pokemon named HeraCROSS not learning Cross Chop
Hey Scott, sorry you're having mic issues. I had a Focusrite years ago that I traded in for a PreSonus Audiobox, which has been nothing but reliable for recording, listening, and DnD. If you're looking for a new interface that won't break the bank, I can't recommend it enough. 😄
Gyahh-ah-ah, some of these fights were so frustrating to watch for the first playthrough; so many fights could've been solved a certain way much faster then what was decided for this attempt.
Looking forward to what the final route is gonna be for the inevitable Vs video down the line. 😉
I think the one vs battle for NFE pokemon that could still be interesting would be Poliwhirl vs Weepinbell. Probably the best two middle stage pokemon, both of which get a special boosting move their final evos don’t. It’s balanced out by the fact Weepinbell gets growth from the start, while Poliwhirl gets amnesia at level 41. I dunno, maybe it wouldn’t be fair enough, but it would be fun to see those two powerhouses go at it.
1:13:32 that's Schoolboy Alan's favourite radio broadcast :)!
I wish I could fix it. Sor-
Perfect timing :)
Chunks:
1. 0:00-1:11:22, a wild mike has appeared;
I find it amazing this thing learns Sunny Day but not Solar Beam lmao. It's like it's only making its already worst weakness even worse
K, but the keyboard sounds on the yeti are kinda ASMR. Like, minus the talking it’s actually quite soothing!
Scott's using a controller though
@@FifthPromise Oh, is he? Whatever it is, it sounds good!
Did know struggle hits ghosts in gen 2. Wonder if it works in stadium
If we’re getting Hera vs Pinsir to take both of them out of the pool, does that mean Scyther vs Scizor is also going to happen at some point?
;)
I audibly gasped reading this exchange cause the logic was logicking, m'liege😅
If you do decide to start doing nuzlocks on the channel would it be possible for you to mod the game in a way so that only the pokemon you have finished rankings for appear in the wild? I think that would be a neat way to motivate you to finish more ranks.
Rock smash could have been good against the rival's magnemite in ecruteak. It would have had 60 effective power which should have given you a one shot on it and it could have easily replaced horn attack
Also...not that you asked...but have you considered the AT2020? AudioTechnica?
Plot twist
Listening on TV? No problem
Listening on phone? The keystrokes are much more prominent in the "mix"
Hmm
Why do we hear clicking only for directions, not for A and B and such?
1:30:40 surfin' in da store :)
I'm sorry I couldn't finish this video Scott
I have very sensitive hearing so when you made the switch to the blue yeti mic it was very distracting for me with the incessant clicks and trying to hear you at the same time
Like I said I'm sorry I never want to miss any of your videos and streams
Hopefully you can find a fix soon so we don't have to hear your heart beat
However Unless you 1 hit kill Milktank I couldn't even beat it with 6x LV 30 pokemon in all 3 Gen 2 games OR its remake.
Still waiting on the yellow legacy video. I understand it takes time, just letting you know that there are still some of us waiting patiently and we haven't forgotten.
He did stream it
2:10:22 Painful reset here considering resisted Reversal was like 25% stronger than neutral Return.
This was the stream of all time
Will be back for Heracross vs Pinsir
Defo need HP Ground later in your 2nd playthrough
This is a comment for the algorithm
True
Remember when he used to read all the comments. Good times
Noooo, not the blue yeti! You can hear your thoughts on that thing. What an awful mic. If you replace you board, consider getting a nice rodecaster. Also maybe consider rock smash for Jasmine, it’s 60bp into the magnemites.
I have a pro 2, works perfectly and has for years
More for algorithm
I think you may be doing too little blackout training in some of your runs.
46:22
i felt it XD
Oooh 2h
I noticed when you stopped writing scripts because you actually improved the commentary as a result. Previously, you frequently over used "verbal scripts" like when you said "and, uh... yeah!" all the time. It is significantly better at this point.
I much prefer your live streams rather than your produced content. Keep up the good work.
Genuinely shocked it's not her across vs scizor
I don't know if this is something you control Scott but I've had 12 adverts in about 18 minutes and it's become completely unwatchable.
#ClickASMR :)
Héracles!
Scott
They were probably going fast so that it was easier for you to not burp and so you dodnt have to have that nasty stuff in your mouth for longer than needed
Why is struggle defined as a normal type move in the movepool chart, but as a bug type move in the actual movepool?
