Brilliant video mate. Many would get stumped after actuator and solenoid work. You've shown another possible cause of the 4WD flashing light problem. Keep up the good work.
Hey Mate. I just used your video as a reference for trying to fix my auto hub system. And with the testing and what to look for in the wiring for test worked a treat. Thank you for you upload
Good video. Another common issue: These chariots have small switches that engage or disengage when the 4wd lever changes position, these switches are spring loaded. When the 4wd lever hasn't been moved in a while the switches can get stuck. this causes all sorts of havoc, like no 4x4. What works sometimes is when the chariot is hot like as you get home, put it in 4wd before you turn it off and leave it like that. also do this if it's cold. After several tries the switches sometimes dislodge themselves. Worked on mine. But good practice is to put it into 4wd regularly to exercise the switches, easy to do if you have the one with the synchro in 4wd transfer as you can do it on the move. Put it in and out a few times, on a staightish road as most of these don't have center differentials...
Thanks for this great Video. I have a Mitsubishi Challenger PAII in Australia and I have a similar 4x4 flashing light problem. 4WD is engaging but the light is doing whatever it wants... sometimes it is flashing, sometimes there is no light at all, sometimes with "ANTI-LOCK" sometimes without. I went to 4 different Workshops and even Mitsubishi Mechanics couldn't help me. I will check out your 4x4 ECU solution. Cheers.
Thanks for the video mate, there's so many of these cars having an issue with the 4wd system. I had to replace the solenoid when I got mine 3 years ago and now having the same issue. I replaced the solenoid recently which did nothing so I'm going to remove the vacuum system and install an auto lokka into the front diff. I'll have to make and fit a plate to hold the pin out of the center to keep it engaged. Your video was shared on an Australian Facebook page for the mighty Challenger
Thanks, good to know -- and yet another component that can go wrong and cause this issue. I've decided to bypass usage of the actuator by installing free wheel locking hubs into the wheels and removing the actuator completely, replaced with bracket and spring to keep 4WD engaged, cap the vacuum hoses, and then I got the oldschool reliable method of manually engaging/disengaging 4WD via locking/unlocking of hubs. Otherwise too many frequent issues with failing actuator/vacuum hoses/solenoids/switches/ECU, etc.
@@bengraham6672 I purchased/installed the free wheeling hubs (genuine Aisin) and then ensured the actuator was working by visually observing it (need to pull the boot back off the main mechanism) locking in/out when car is turned on/off. Since the actuator's default position is 4WD, all I ended up doing was disconnecting the front diff solenoid connector (yellow side) -- and then double checked the actuator again to ensure it remained in locked position when car was turned on/off. Only other thing I did was cut the electrical wires going from the actuator switch (located top of front dif, close to actuator) to the solenoid -- to disable the 4WD flashing light. That's all I ended up doing. Let me know if more specific details needed on anything happy to answer.
Mines just gone. Taking it to the garage on Monday as its my daily runner and haven't got the facilities to do it myself. I'll pass on your findings. Thanks mate
Very nice indeed! I have the same flashing problem, think it could be the solonoid. What's the 4x4 forum you are using to get info on this Shogun Sport Model?!
hello friend, I drive a mitaubishi pajero sport 3.0 petrol I have a problem, I have 2H 4H 4L on the gear lever when I put it in 4H I can't turn the steering wheel, is my actuator broken? I saw on you tube that you were changing that part.
Hello LS10 Works, can you write me the voltage on pin 2, how much should be. I have Pajero sport 2000 All of transmission works, i was replace the sensor of transfer case and the green light still blinking. Thank you in advance.
Hi. Top work. Another posted asked if you'd a part number, and though you posted the ebay link twice, that's now gone extinct. Is there any chance you'd have a part number?
I want to buy a 2003 Pajero Pinin 2.0 GDi, but it has a problem with the super select . In 2H the front wheel indicators ALWAYS flash, in 4H they are always on but I dont feel the front wheels working at all, only the rear. What could be the problem , an expensive one ore a more common/cheap one? Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Do you know if you can remove and replace just the plastic outside of the actuator, rather then the whole actuator? Everything on mine seems good except the vac hose fitting on the plastic outside. Cheers
I'm not sure to be honest for the time to try find one though you may be better off and cheaper to replace the actuator..? Let me know how you get on though :)
excellent friend I have a similar problem, but the light blinks when it is in 2h, but when it is In 4h and 4L the light is fixed and works well, what could it be?
i have a similar problem with a pajero pinin 2001. if i shift from 2H to 4H front wheels green lights keep blinking. and no 4 wheels drive. we checked all selenoids and hoses, no problems there. so probably is there a ECU for 4wd ECU on pajero pinin too? probably my problem is with 4x4 ecu ?
@@LS10Works here I get mad due to this superselect light.when I switch on car it wil start blink after starting the car it wil go ,I hv replaced solenoid switch in engine room but still same, any idea bat this.thanls in advance.
Just chuck out the bloddy idiotic solenoid and vacuum actuator, put it in alltime 4wd and get some manual locking hubs. You'll never have that problem again

Hi what was the part number for the bipolar transistor I'm having trouble sourcing one they tell number doesn't match

I have on both connector 12v in 2H position and 0volt on 4H position thats correct?
