    I want to say thank you for the videos you make. I built my first f450 with a APM 2.6 from your videos. Very informative and a pleasure to watch. I've built many quads now, and planes. Its been a hobby that has helped me cope with some things I've had to endure and I just want to say thanks for getting me involved and keep it up.

    That looked very cool Lee. I'd started researching Heli's years ago when I discovered multi's were a possibility so never went down that particular rabbit hole. That stabilised mode doesn't seem as scary as most helis appear to be!

    This might just bring me back to Helis. I got started with the coaxials,moved to a Blade 120 and got very frustrated.Luckily had fun with fixed wing and then quads got so much better by leaps an bounds.Like you,i"ve always had a soft spot for a single rotor.

    My first heli was a Kyosho Concept 30 - glowplug engine with flybar and no modern gyro. I got quite adept at flying (inverted and flips, etc.) and managed to only have minor damage crashes. Then life - sorry, wife - got in the way and only started back into RC last year with quads... (single again). Now I quite fancy a plane, or maybe even one of these little helis... can't make me mind up :)

    Just looking at the construction of it, and all the finely detailed parts & pieces, I can only guess that something like this, back in the 90's, would have cost over $1000. I never got into helis myself. I saw so much frustration from early adopters in that hobby, which was deterrent enough. Nice review. Cheers.

    XK K110 is another great micro heli, half the weight and power makes it almost indestructible, still heaps of fun with decent stability, gives me the confidence to do crazy tricks and flips low to the ground without consequence.

  • @briansowder10
    @briansowder10 4 роки тому

    I started with a blade CP years ago. I learned to fly helis before learning to fly planes actually. And while that's an insane thought for most I had no idea how hard helis were. And reflect how silly it was of me to be so afraid to fly planes for the first time. The stability mode would be great for new pilots coming from mulitrotor land.
    The availability of parts is vital and I would highly recommend that Eachine make parts local to the global market helis are not multirotors and they have a high part count. When crashed they tend to flop around a bit and eat themselves. And quick part ordering would be really nice.
    The blade mcpx series is a seriously good little copter and quite durable too.

    Great video as usual. I began flying helis too before moving to quads and fixed wing. I do still fly my TRex 450, although I fly the 450 FPV which definitely gets the adrenaline going and is a real challenge compared to quads. Can't beat the sound of a heli! The Eachine heli looks very stable. Would be great to see you having a go at putting a micro camera on it and flying it FPV.

    You're correct, the Futaba protocol is AETR. For a quick and easy set-up I recommend doing a UA-cam search for John Salt's XK K110 set-up for OpenTX. Most everything should be very similar to what you're looking for. And John has some easy ways to set pitch on micro's that are too small for a pitch guage. Have fun.

    Hi, Martyn here again! 🤩 I’m trying to get my head around the myriad of micro connectors these days 🙄.
    I think the E160 is a good example of micro JST connectors - of which there are many! Extremely common since the advent of 250g rules etc.
    They include ZH, SM, XH, PH, EL, SYP just to mention a few 😫 Then we have mm of “pitch”, which I believe is distance between pins, another one is 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.54mm, SOMETIMES refers to the diameter of wire, not to mention overall plug dimensions!
    All I need right now is a bunch of wired 3 pin plugs (which are on models everywhere, including the E160’s SBUS & servos). Nearest measurements I can make out: 5 x 2 x 4mm deep. Adjacent to those is a slightly larger socket for DSM, a few plugs that size would also be handy, but not essential right now.
    PLEASE do you know exactly what to order? A simple bag of servo plugs which I use in all sorts of applications including micro ‘lost model alarms’ 😭 how hard can it be?!
    Sorry for rambling and thank you again for your great knowledge! 👍🏻

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 роки тому

      I tend to keep all of my spare wires from builds in a little tin for times like this. I agree, it is confusing especially when vendors are not explicit with what connectors are used. I'd send a message to the vendor or reseller with the question. Best of luck

    I used to fly a lot of Walkera MiniCP and similar. Cool little copters. Only problem was that as one crashed them and needed to replace parts, I could never get them to fly as well again. BUT, they were fairly inexpensive. Would have imagined that with time, the prices would have come down. Apparently not. Would love something like this but for the price, I'll try to fix the CPs.

  • @lynxAzur
    @lynxAzur 4 роки тому +1

    Great video , I would say that when you are a beginner , you have always crashes, and a more plastic/tolerant small Heli would be better, I started again heli flight with the e119 which is very limited but very cheap and easy, then bought a XK K110 which is a fantastic model very tolerant to crash and easy to flight in 6G ... you can make a lot of mistakes without too much damages... I am waiting now my e160 next week apparently. I will see what this one bring to me.
    I bought also the omphobby M2 , but too impressive for now for me to flight...
    The downside of these small and cheap helicopters is that when you are used to them... you ask yourself... why flying a big and very dangerous one in place of it :)
    I started Heli 30 years ago, it costed me 1.5 month salary (heli + radio)... crashed after 3 very short flight and I stopped... too expensive ! Incredible what you can fly today with only 50/150 €
    Regards

    I just watched a couple old vids and had to post another comment, to all quad flyers who've never seen what can be done with an RC heli, I urge you to look for 'Tareq Alsaadi Goblin Kraken 3D at the Swiss Heli Challenge 2019'... You seriously won't believe your eyes, or ears for that matter, listening to those huge heavy blades just chewing at the air mercilessly, throwing that great big heli around the sky, it's seriously mind-blowing if you've never seen it... I had and managed to destroy three 3g helis. I went to quads and love the ease of flying with them. I now own 5 6g copters including this one. They still break when you crash, but in 6g mode are far easier to fly. It would be real cool if they would allow 6g inverted flight.

    I started off with a Walkera MiniCP and a Blade NanoCP and MCPX, then moved up to a Walkera V120D 02s and Blade BL120, before I made the switch to quads; but I still take out the NanoCP now and then, and I've been tinkering with putting an FPV camera in the V120 to see if I can get an image without too much jello... I've always been interested in the FPV heli concept because with the right configuration you can get extreme flight times and extraordinary maneuverability; if you watch some of the hardcore heli guys, it's amazing what they can do; check out Tareq Alsaadi, he does stuff with great big ol' Goblin 700 helis that truly defies belief, I'm not kidding, it's freakin' insane what he can make those big helis do... There was a youtuber named Pico Flyer who did some cool stuff a loooong time ago with an FPV setup in a Walkera MiniCP, which is truly a micro-sized heli, and I was amazed at the image quality and flight footage he got, back when the guys at Flite Test were still building quads out of plywood and superglue, and they were all HUGE..! Again, check out the old vids, it's crazy how far the hobby has come..! Good vid as always mate, I might have to look into this new Eachine, I just love watching those swash plates move! Such a mechanical ballet, and just cool as hell the way it translates to the flight aspects of the heli...

    Your story could be mine...totally recognize it. Started with a walkera hm36b because I was young and didn't had the money for a decent helicopter. The walkera was absolutely rubbish, specially the tail gyro. In fact the gyro on mine wasn't working at all....so I always had full left rudder to keep the tail from drifting....thought it was normal. Till somebody told me it wasn't. Bought a hobbyking hk401b gyro and the helicopter finally flew ok. Then switched to the t-rex 450se, and men.....heart pumping every flight. Then I noticed the rcexplorer diy tricopter, bought some wood and a first version kk fc, and wow....that flew sooooo easy. Switched to tricopter, to quads, to mini quads, to planes.....
    And now I'm back at my old flybarred t rex 450. This eachine looks great too!!

      @@Painless360 "rc" technique made some incredible jumps over the last 10 years Indeed....I remember the first time that the kk board came into production, as an alternative to a totally diy solution with the 3 imus out of the Nintendo wii remotes. I think it was about the first serious open-source fc project and I was absolutely amazed by the tech. Flashing with the lazy zero kk flash tool. Maybe you also remember it! When you look at it now...it's the most simple piece of hardware and code you've seen. A big hooray for al the (open-source) thinkers out there that made this kind of progression possible!

    All RC helicopters, from 160 to 800, should become pure direct drive in the next few years. The flybarless FBL revolution is complete. The pure direct drive PDD revolution is next. And all helicopters will come FPV in the next few years.

    Having flown helis for years this offer from eachine is probably the most expensive Ive seen for this price (AU$300.00). Better to get yourself a Trex 450 flybarless basic kit.

    • @Graham_Shaw
      @Graham_Shaw 4 роки тому +1

      bear in mind that the trex 450 won't have any type of flight stabilization for beginners, and that's a big deal.

      @@Graham_Shaw You can buy a heli flight controller for 30 bucks. NO EXCUSE.

    • @Graham_Shaw
      @Graham_Shaw 4 роки тому

      @@OzFPVflyer Yes, you can, but it won't have stabilization, or rescue at that price. And it will be a clone, so basically stolen IP. The E160 is only a little bit more expensive than what could be considered it's predecessor, the XK K130, and it has a brushed, coreless tail motor that wore out fast. Also, I think you are not considering that a 450 would be much more intimidating for beginners due to the bigger size. Lastly, why do you think I'm trying to make excuses for the E160's price? I just think it makes a great beginner heli, what's wrong with that? Each to their own I suppose.
