You're finally doing heli ...yay... I've done it on my own already it really helps the user understand heli better now I'd love to see an audu pilot heli setup with gps etc lol
It's always interesting to see how different people approach model building in OpenTX. This is a nice use of flight modes without egregious use of global variables which just makes things less intuitive. A couple of suggestions from a heli guy if you don't mind. I'm not sure why manufacturers set up so much negative pitch in "normal mode" in a helicopter designed for beginners. The reaction for beginners is to yank the throttle down when they get into trouble. With lots of negative pitch this just augers the heli into the ground. And second, cutting throttle is a good way to prevent damage if a beginner loses control. So it's best to run a flat curve for throttle cut on a micro heli as they lack a one way bearing for autorotationanyway . That way the blades just swing in the blade grips and you're less likely to damage more than the blades.
I agree - see my comment in the video. In 'normal' mode I think that -2 degrees is enough for a gentle decent when learning. No idea why they used an almost identical pitch curve for both modes.. Happy flying!
Thumbs up up up. The E160 flies for 15 minutes stock. Helicopters are here to stay for real utility businesses because any modification makes a 250 gram craft fly 30+ minutes all while HD FPV recording.
Funny, I just left a comment on your Eachine E160 review and I have also been thinking of buying the exact same radio! Lo and behold, you've done a video on combining the two. I think I'll have to buy them both now! Subbed by the way.
Programming my first FBL (Blade mCPX BL) w/ parameters per operating manual. Setting up 4 flight modes. Modes selected based on 4 logical switches "F" back & "E" back is default (normal) mode, "F" back and "E" mid or fwd are ST1 / ST2 modes. "F" forward and any "E" posit = HOLD. Each logical each set of throttle & pitch curves avail only in associated flight mode. Question: If I have no trims on flight modes, is there a reason to repeat no trims on mixes page?
Bonne chance
My first flying passion was Helicpters too and I have also recently picked them up again after many multirotor years :-) You really need to check out the OMPHobby helicopters , the M1 & M2 models.
Same here. Stoped with the trex 450 in 2012 and last year got back into helis with the M1. Had to learn all over and its so amazing how brilliant the performance on the M1 is. Quild quality is best ever. Used Jonas W setup on buddyrc chanel. Next is M2. Dont know if I want to revive the trex 450 with all these new sub250 regulations.
One more nice video, your YT channel is one of my favorites for OTX/ETX programming 🙂. In this video I was just wondering if there is a special reason to programm the D/R in the mixer? I learned and confirmed by myself that it's generally a more clever way to program it in the inputs rather in the mixer. Especially when the point was already discussed a few years ago in two of your videos 😉
Downloaded the file you provided. In 6G everything seems to work correctly according to the graph. When I switch to 3D mode everything seems to work but the throttle. it goes to 90% and no matter what switch is in what position the throttle doesn't change till you put it back in 6G mode. Of coarse I cant test the heli now as I didn't re calibrate my sticks before I tried it and it went crazy and burnt out a servo.. The calibration was WAAAAAAAAY of...
You can change the throttle curve for the modes. In the video example 6G mode also turns on 'idle-up' throttle curve to maintain head-speed during hard 3D moves. You can set it up to be different my editing that throttle curve. Best of luck!
I am REALLY struggling here. I've set my model (Trex500 heli) up in my Radiomaster TX 16S. I am no stranger to helis but what is completely new is the BeastX or Spektrum AR7200BX. My model seems to be behaving looking at outputs, but when I bind to the BeastX NONE of the inputs work. When I set up the model I thought I'd "mapped" the channels to the controller. The throttle is on Right Aerilon and starts at max to give you an idea...Please, any help would be appreciated. From a fellow Brit!
Hello Painless 360, I was wondering would it be possible for these programmers to come up with a release for "Get This" an auto bind feature for multiproticol TX modules. I had this pondering around in my head and was wondering if this would be possible. It would be so cool if you could just select "Auto Bind" feature on the menus where "Bind" is on the selection and have it scan and find the proticol for a given RX in bind mode. What do you think????
I;m sure they have had it suggested in the past. Why not suggest it to them in the Github pages for the project. I've always found a good reception for great ideas for improvements from developers.. Happy flying!
Hi Lee Do you know if it is possible to flash the Jumper T8SG v3 Plus with OpenTx to replace the DeviationTx , I find DeviationTx non user friendly , that’s why I want use OpenTx instead. Thanks
From what I have read of the documentation of it, it's entirely possible to set ArduPilot up for helicopters. Setting it up for practically "drone status" is one thing... I'll be damned if it's possible to set it up for 3D. Now, that I think about it... that gives me an idea. Put ArduPilot in one of my helicopters & set it up for 3D. Just to see if it can be done. =^/,..,^=
Great video. Got a tx16s on it's way to hopefully replace my dx8 for all my heli's. Be awesome if you did one for spirit flybarless systems as they've started to collaborate with openTx. Keep up the good work bud :)
Thanks for educational videos. Question: most of my planes I own have RETA for inputs and mixers. Some iNav and BF stuff work with RETA inputs and AETR mixer. Why should my OpenTx mixer order always the same as the MM order? If I understand it correctly I'm not able to change my OpenTX mixing order anymore using a MM?
You can change the default channel order to be anything. It's in the radio setup in Opentx and so long as the channel order on the MPM is the same it will do a lot of the smart stuff for you... See the video all about this at the bottom of the Tx16s playlist.. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 Thanks! As I didn't receive my Radiomaster yet to replace my very old Taranis, this was a moment of..... ohoo. I like the MPM cloning option sooo much. Check the final model memory linked in the description . I've reduced it a lot. A little negative pitch can be handy in windy conditions to help controlled decents..
