    I'm glad this video is still up. After my DX9 died and switching to an NX8 and not even touching this little heli for several years I found myself clueless how to bind it again lol. Had to search hard in my 123 plane hanger to even find a receiver to accept the old 3 pin satellite.

Mine has been getting lots of air time over the past 2 weeks now with no issues to report. Put er in the soft grass a few times and a tree reached out and grabbed it once, but it's holding up well.

    I recently bought the tx16s to replace my Qx7 and older Dx8. Trying to get all quads and helis on the tx16s. The core heli guys hate open tx. That's the Info I'm getting. I am having the hardest time programming the tx16 to work with the nano s2 and the mcpx bl2. The omp m2 and the xk130 I figured out. Lots of info to learn.

    • @Rchelicopterfun

      Well, as a pretty "core" heli guy myself (flying & instructing for over 30 years and having one of the most popular RC helicopter websites on the internet), I love OpenTX. But that certainly wasn't always the case. My first two weeks the Horus X12S purchase, I hated OpenTX like many, and was ready to give up. Then I found OpenTX University's website on a good customer's recommendation.
      Now, as I recommend to everyone getting into OpenTX; make OpenTX university's website your best friend. Study it, learning it, know it. Every single thing I know about configuring an OpenTX radio comes from that site, including their excellent section on helicopter radio configuration. That section by the way will help you get your OpenTX radio to have a similar base configuration as what a preconfigured off the shelf Spektrum radio uses in terms of inputs, outputs & mixes.

      I answer this question in the review I did on the E160. The 160 IMO is hands down a better performing micro than the 130. The brushless tail performance improvement and efficiency increase alone pushes it ahead. Never mind the longer flight times, better landing struts, better main motor, and better overall flight characteristics.

      Like most small/micro CP helis, stabilization mode selection is via channel 5 output. So you would simply assign whatever toggle you want to use for stabilization to channel 5 and then set the output for channel 5 at -100% to +100% (ie. a 2 position switched output). Done. 🙂

    Hey John, excuse my ignorance but I’ve never gone down the satellite route. I’ve always flown as near “stick n rudder” as possible.
    What exactly does that little DSM Satellite box do? Surely it’s not a fancy GPS is it? 😳👍🏻

    • @Rchelicopterfun
      @Rchelicopterfun  2 роки тому

      Nope, it has nothing to do with GPS; it's simply what Spektrum calls their DSM2/X stand alone small receivers that have no servo BUS. Also called remote receivers (lots of info on Spektrum's site). I also go over this and other RX options on my flybarless page under the "How To Connect A Flybarless Flight Controller To Your Receiver" heading :

      I have a problem with Dual Rates on the E6 transmitter, mine came from the factory set to 50%/100%.
      I changed my pitch and throttle curves easily BUT when it came to Dual Rates (1,2 & 4) I could only change channel 1. It simply won’t allow me to jump to 2 and 4, no matter how many times I bash the Mode button lol. Just changing roll could be disastrous - any ideas? 🚁

    • @Rchelicopterfun
      @Rchelicopterfun  4 роки тому +2

      @Ikarus - Care to share the documentation on this. I can find a single document that supports any DSM2 or DSMX satellite being able to be put into Bind mode by shorting the PPM signal to ground. All flight controllers/FBL systems that are able to put a Speky/aftermarket DSM sat RX into bind mode use CLI commands to do it. There are even a couple Satellite bind tools on the market that will allow you to put the Sat into bind mode like this one. www.flyingtech.co.uk/electronics/simple-usb-bind-tool-dsm2-dsmx-satellite-receiver
      I really don't think flight controllers would use CLI commands or there being special satellite RX binding tools available if it was just an easy matter of shorting the PPM signal output to ground. Again, in all the years I've been using DSM protocol, I've never run across any documentation supporting this method. I of course will change my view if you can provide documentation that I've missed. 🙂

    John, Just curious. Did you ever use a DSMX sat and Spektrum Tx on the Old (Original) Align 150DFC? If so, did it fly OK for you? For me it flew horribly, felt REALLY laggy, practically unflyable, but with a Futaba Tx on S-FHSS it flew fine, no issues.

      @Rchelicopterfun  4 роки тому +1

    • @heeder777
      @heeder777 4 роки тому

      I used one on my align 150. I didn’t really notice any lag but it was on the GRS gyro. I used it because it either wouldn’t bind or lost the bind. I used two different transmitters, same with both. I have two and a half of these 150’s and I have come to hate the gyro but it flys fine with the satellite and my inexpensive Dx6e.

    • @Graham_Shaw
      @Graham_Shaw 4 роки тому

      @@heeder777 Maybe lag isn't the best way to describe what was going on with it. It could have been a cyclic gain issue when a DSMX sat was used. Basically, every time I did a flip or a roll for example, when i returned the sticks to centre to stop the rotation, the heli would keep rotating and overshoot by around 25° to 30° every single time, so you'd have to give it oposite stick to corret for the overshoot. I tried various different brands of DSMX sats from Orange and Lemon as well as genuine Spektrum sats, I tried 11ms and 22ms frame rate, nothing made any difference. I have read about other people having issues like this, but non as pronounced as the issues I had, and I didn't find those user reports until over a year after I gave up with the 150 DFC on Spektrum, and tried Futaba instead, which worked fine, so IDK, It's a mystery🤔

    Would you build a 800 helicopter for me complete programming to a h1 gps to a rtf package. Really want something large that I'm going to be able to get more than 5 seconds out of. Really tired of wrecking nice models. It's always something. If it's not a set up isue it will be a mechanical and if either of those don't crash me it will be the wind or center of gravity or...or...or... I can always simply lawn dart it .... Seriously there is absolutely no one around here that really knows jack about these helicopters.... They sell them but really that's about it. Only one shop around here that could get one to bind. Seriously they do drones and cars but helicopters are like a mystery thousands later I still have nothing flying. Had success with the preprogrammed rtf 230 with a safe button. I can fly that....but they are plastic junk. Couple flights and every part will be worked if it's still around.... Tiny hard to see... Proper lights and or GPS tracker makes it too heavy and fly like dog sh💩. I have a trex500dfc I have been smart enough not to fly...needs set up.think I have a 200.00 top of the line spectrum helicopter receiver around someplace I would surely take a week to set up miss something and be minus a large heli. I have a dx8 gen 2. Would buy a dx20 need SAFE or GPS . Surely have proven repeated with 6 or 8 200 to 360 size that I don't have this down yet. Costs me like 100 a. Second to learn. No one to help.
