I've been toying with the ideas of tiny house living for a while now and have heard about people building a yurt for this exact reason. Not only is it more economical it is more eco friendly.
I love this yurt. I wish they would do another one but much slower to show more elements of the Yurt and the viewer could get an idea of the flow. 40 ft. Is definitely the way to go
Wow, it's refreshing to see a small house design that's actually practical instead of stupidly trendy. I'm sorry, I would find it difficult to live year-round in a tent with a hotplate and not much else.
Very beautiful, you have definitely proven that the yurt is a viable alternative to standard leaving, I would sooner live here then a mobile home in a mobile home park!
Most yurts I see are not well decorated and often messy. Yours is beautiful and very inspiring. I've been thinking of a tiny house but perhaps a yurt will be a better option! Thanks for sharing your lovely home.
Interesting.... this one seemed to me to be waaayyy more cluttered than most that I have seen. Most people I see living in yurts are utilizing minimalistic approaches - this home doesn't fit that approach at all.
@@mamame3729 Which is what is nice about it. Would not call it 'cluttered'. More 'homelike'. Not temporary looking. All the space (and what it contains) actually seems quite organized and beautiful.
I was going to buy a 30 footer and attach a separate housing area to it like a lot of other people have. But I never would’ve guessed that an extra 10 feet would have made such a huge difference of this magnitude! I’m going to buy a 40’ now. And I’m definitely getting wood siding on the outside (and especially on the inside, to give it that cabin feel) Thanks so much for this video. It inspired me 😊
I absolutely, totally love, love it! The decorating of this home is perfect. I’m a big fan of rustic, Native American, and wildlife (living) decor. It’s perfect. Very warm and comforting. You get the negative ion vibe with this one! And...a house is not a home without a dog!
Right now I'm in the final design and permitting stages of building two 30' Yurts with a connecting 24'x48' covered pavilion that contains the kitchen and dinning room on the Big Island of Hawai'i. All the same reasoning of why building a Yurt was the best option pretty much applied in my situation, except I needed much more space. In addition, I'm starting a off-grid 20 acre permaculture farm where the Yurts are being built. The purchase of the land has been completed, and now I'm producing a series of videos showing the progress of the Yurt homestead on my channel.
That sounds fantastic! We sent 7 yurts to a large permaculture farm on Kauai a few years back. Common Ground Kauai, on the north shore. Good luck with your venture!
Do you have another channel with hose videos? My family are taro farmers on Oahu and we are thinking about building a yurt to live in because of zoning. I would love to see what you built!!!
I stayed in one at a resort campsite. Loved it. great energy slept great. had AC so that was a bonus. was going to sell my land in NH but now a yurt on it is where ill retire too. It will be easier to have something to live in quicker and cheaper than building a stick home. it was very peaceful stay!!
I'm very impressed with your furniture arrangement. It's easy to understand the circle concept now that I've seen how it all fits together so easily and how grand it looks. Superior home in many ways. THANKYOU
I live in a yurt also. Mine is strictly mongolian, on a brick floor. I would never recommend putting a yurt on a deck like that in Idaho, if you don’t keep your woodstove going 24/7 in the winter, you’ll freeze. Mine holds the heat, no stoking the fire in the middle of the night. The closer you stick to the Mongolian design, the better it works.

"Yurt" is a Turkish word that is still being used for dormitories. Also we call our country as our "yurt". These traditional turkish tents are still being used on higher altitudes here in our country. In summer we climb to higher altitudes for fresh and cool air and also to feed our animals. Soo we still do use exactly same tents here. People living their whole life in these tents are called "Yörük" people. The word comes from "yürümek" verb. Which means "to walk" in Turkish. These people (my ancestors used to as well) stay in these tents whole their lifes travelling to lands of grass for their animals and trading. You can easily come accross with such huge families if you are travelling around Toros Mountains region. One important thing is that we prefer goat wool rather than sheep. That is because goat wool is better for climate controlling. It keeps warmer in winter and cooler in summer and much more retardant to fire and water. That is surely a fact. Unfortunately it is not easy to find such spinned and woven goat wool these days. Like my grandma used to do and i loved to watch. Fabricated stuff do not work as well as experienced.
