Love videos like this! As a Mexican-American who is looking forward to settling in México soon, I really appreciate you (and Kevin) for sharing your experiences and tips; they're not only helpful but impactful. Muchisimas gracias
Wow, that was a lot of information, thank you. I have had a few encounters with mexican healthcare. For the most part they have been OK, but I have had a negative experiences as well. Unfortunately one dentist took advantage of my mom with dental implants. The biggest thing I have learned is always make sure you get refences.
I just want to point out real quick (I'm around the 2:55 mark of the video) that I like the way they did the Patreon, Buy Me a Coffee, etc etc "things" in this video. Jenni didn't (or at least hasn't so far) said anything about these options we can use to support her and Kevin. They just wove it into the video on screen as Jenni was talking. It was a nice touch!
Hola! Great info Jenny. Visited Playa del Carmen for about 5 wks October-November. Been there a few times....In part I went to heal from a snow shoveling accident from February '23..Had been doing therapy 3xs a week for nearly 4 months for lower back, thigh/glute pain. "Accident" was also causing digestive problems...Had been getting better but not well.... Went to pharmist in Playa. She prescribed some meds to use for two weeks. $15 USD. Other SMART people suggested I soak/exercise in Caribe for at least an hour daily...I did. Couole times even on Red Flag days...Within 3 wks my body was back to normal. My experience of Mexican health care over a decade is very positive. The approach is different than USA.........Talk about "oversharing".😅 Great to see and hear you. Loving of you to give Kevin a rest.
The ocean’s salt water has so many healing properties! I feel amazing after a swim in the sea. And thank! lol. Kevin needed a break from filming and editing but he managed to make a cameo in this video anyhow. Did you spot him? 😆
I am a Chicano born in El Paso and I eventually migrated to Oaxaca after retiring from the Army. I have my temporary residency and want to set up my medical insurance and appointments too. This is a helpful video, if you have others please share. Gracias
Nice! If you have at least one parent or grandparent born in Mexico, you can get citizenship via heritage. If this applies to you, I recommend you check out our video guides on getting Mexican citizenship: ua-cam.com/play/PL_lmLepPirImQPZDT4SgXztkLbXg9hqDK.html&si=4K4KJsO2Hhxw8VBC
Like you Jenny I have been dealing with a lot and I finally went to a Dr here in Puerto Vallarta. Mind blowing how easy it is to get medial treatments down here and how affordable it is. 2 Dr visits, many many blood tests and an ultrasound of my entire abdomen and I am only $550cdn in. I knew my test results in less than 24 hours and I knew the results of my ultrasound before I left the room as the Dr tells you what they are seeing as they are doing it. So far very impressed! Hope you are feeling better Jenny! Keep running Kevin!
Hey Kelly! Good to hear from you amigo. Thanks for sharing about your experiences with medical care, I know it’ll be super helpful for others reading the comments, too. Glad to hear you’re getting great care. I remember about your troubles with long covid and stuff. I hope it’s getting better. I am doing better but I need to stay on top of all of my approaches because these issues come back very easily. And Kevin lol I was not expecting him to do that haha
@kellynorthshore Hi there, I was interested in getting more info about your medical experience specifically in PV. I woudl love to go for this purpose, and harder to find info on this are. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am contemplating to move to Mexico and the worry about accessibility and quality of health care so far has been the #1 point which made me hesitate.
Very informative video, thanks for sharing! Please let us know how Botox works for your grinding, my daughter has been grinding her teeth for 30 years and no one has ever suggested Botox. When you were filming on the street, I saw you look distracted for a few seconds but had to watch again to see a smiling Kevin jog by, lol. Being open about your medical conditions is really helpful to others, especially the fibromyalgia, because as you mentioned many doctors like to brush it off as "all in your head". I'm so glad that you have found these wonderful doctors who are helping you get well!
30 years is a long time to be suffering with teeth grinding 😮💨 I was not expecting Kevin to do that lol I’m glad you spotted him! Thanks for your comment, Cindy have a wonderful week 🤗
I have been intrigued by getting my medical care and dental issues taken care of while I am in Mexico, but NOW there have been two or three times where I have chickened out. I have fibromyalgia also Sjogren's and the Dentist is NEVER a place I want to go, because I often become very ill after each visit!! I am trying to get my courage back up because I am so worried I could lose my front teeth and look like a witch!! This video was somewhat encouraging, but you are younger than me and probably tolerate these procedures better. My Spanish isn't great, and I worry about offending the dentist as well. because mostly I hate the profession!! I did subscribe because I like what you are doing on this channel. I am heading back to Mexico soon and hopefully get my residency this time... They say Third time is a charm! :)
!Cuidate querida! We're 77 and 65 and living in Veracruz state. Our medical care has been excellent and the cost has been less than our deductibles would be in the States. We both spent years with a volunteer ambulance service, but prefer some else do the injections, so we use the docs associated with the pharmacies. Seriously, take care of yourselves and we'd love to take you to dinner sometime when you are visiting Kevin's relativels in Orizaba.
Que lindos muchas gracias 🙏🏽 The fact that paying out of pocket in Mexico is more affordable than paying with insurance is wild and deductibles are a huge part of that. I’m glad to hear you get excellent medical care in Veracruz. We love Orizaba and would be very happy to meet you! Fingers crossed we make it happen🤞🏽
Getting diagnosed with Fibromyalgia is such a struggle. I did not know I could get care like this in Mexico! Thank you for bringing attention to the health industry in Mexico. Which all seems very reasonably priced.
Jenny, thank you for sharing. My biggest food poisoning event was also in Chiapas. It was in Palenque. We went on a tour and lunch was part of the package. The lunch was a buffet and was very tasty. However, Palenque is very hot and humid. Luckily, I was able to get a consultation and the medicine helped. However, we ended going back to San Cristobal where the weather was much cooler.
35 pesos to see a doctor at Farmacia Guadalajara en Guadalajara. Plus you get 10% off if you by the medication there. Botox is also great for headaches.
One of your best videos yet, super helpful and reassuring to know your way around the different medical options in cdMX. Thanks guys. Glad to see Kevin join Jenny at the end :)
I really love your travel videos, but this one was really awesome! Usually, I don't see enough about the practical day-to-day tips of life in Mexico. I would love to see more videos like this, and I don't think you were oversharing at all. Thanks for the great job you are doing on your channel -- Kelly Hameed
I've only seen a eye doctor and pharmacist so far living in CDMX, but's it's been great. Very sweet and they take their time. Plus the prices to see them are cheaper than my co-pay's in The US.
thank you so much for all this information and honesty. i agree on communication and personal service compared to USA doctors. you can't even talk to doctors in USA, you always have to deal with nurses or PTs in between you and the doctor. so to have the doctor WhatsApp me here was amazing! prices are reasonable, appointments aren't weeks away and yes, more doctor to patient time that we aren't used to in the states. i have had similar experiences as you and your video just confirmed that it tends to be the norm. really reassuring when things go awry. thanks again, i'm a new subscriber and really appreciate your perspectives. salud!
Yep, it really feels like jumping through hoops to get in touch with the doctor. Or they'll pass you off to the nurse or PA, for sure. Thanks for sharing about your experience, I think it's important that people know how great quality healthcare is in Mexico! Thanks for joining us, saludos ☺
This is exactly the you tube channel I was looking for. Please keep us updated about the Botox. I also suffer from severe teeth grinding. I think it’s due to my PTSD combined with stress & horrible neurological issues. 😢 thanks in advance.
Aw, ouch, I’m sorry to hear you also struggle with similar issues 😣 I hope you’re getting the proper care 🙏🏽 I neglected a follow up visit to a rheumatologist for way too long because of feelings of hopelessness. But it’s so important. I’ll be posting an update on the Botox once I’m past the 10 day mark. It won’t be a video, just a community post to the UA-cam channel so keep an eye out for it 🙂🫶🏻 take care
Thank you for sharing this is so helpful. I have a friend who moved to Merida and when I visited her we had to take her husband to see the doctor and I went along for translation and that was an experience all by itself. All of these medical facilities seem very scary to me. If you don't have insurance the medical bills in the USA will kill anyway, so what's the difference.
Muchas gracias 🙏 for sharing all the important medical information. Hope the Botox helps relieve headaches. Stay pretty, positive & healthy. Love ❤️ the channel. Huge fan.
Our experience with Mexican doctors has been exactly the same -- incredible, personal attention, even getting random check-ins from them months later via WhatsApp. Night and day compared to the US.
I’m glad you’ve had positive experiences, too! And yep, I tried not to demonize the US healthcare system because it’s not all bad and there are good doctors in the US too but the culture is so different
Thank you for sharing the information. I'll be in CDMX for couple of weeks next month. Do you have any recommendations? I'm a laid back budget traveler who loves nature and spirituality. Thank you 🙏
Visit as many parks as you can 😊Parque Mexico, Parque España, Parque Hundido, Viveros (great for running but closes at 6pm), and of course, bosque Chapultepec.
Kevin is too funny! Jenny, I'm jealous! When I get Botox my doctor doesn't use the vibrating tool. 😂 I pay $10.00 a unit, but there's a 20-minimum unit purchase to get that price. That usually covers my Crowsfeet and between my eyes.
Yea we were on our way to my Botox appointment together and he distracted me for a second and almost made me laugh lol 😆 The vibrating tool was pretty nice actually 😬
We’ve had similar experiences with consultorios. Both in Xalapa and Queretaro, they were very helpful and for less than $20 including all prescriptions! Is the Botox helping the jaw issue? Isela is considering it for her TMJ.
They told me it would take 8-10 days to settle in and start to feel the effects. I just got it on Friday so ask me again in another week 😁. What’s TMJ?
@@EatBailaTravel”Lock jaw” her jaw muscles are so tight and won’t relax. She’s had 2 chiropractors work on it. Causes headaches and is painful. One mentioned Botox.
Oh ouch!! 😣 yea, Botox is a bit of a bandaid solution, temporary relief while working on other ways to help, and for me, one of several approaches that I’m working with my physical therapist, rheumatologist and dentist.
Sounds like a lot of the medical conditions you have could be solved with another Mexican remedy called the Margarita. Put your laptop away around 5:00 and consume the first one quickly, the second one will follow easily without any pain at all
Jenny, thanks for sharing. Do make sure you wear the night guard while sleeping. If you're a teeth-grinder, you don't want to wind up with TMD, where your bite is off and you can't eat properly. Heeeelllll to the no!
@@EatBailaTravel It's when you wear down your jaw muscles so much that you have pain and eating becomes difficult. You have to stick to soft food. I went through that shizzle-nit. Never again! Take care.
Hi Jenny, thank you for sharing this info was very helpful. I also have fibro and PTSD. I lived in Mexico city and will be returning soon, would it be possible for you to share the name of the Dr. who specializes in Fibro care. I would truly appreciate it.
😮💨I’m sorry to hear you also struggle with these things. Of course! Her name is Dra. Guadalupe Berenice Garduño and you can make an appointment with her directly on the doctoralia.com.mx website. There were other doctors I was eyeing from that site but she had the soonest availability, so feel free to explore other rheumatologists as well. Are you moving back or just visiting?
Hola Jenny - I have had bruxism as well for decades and I will probably get the botox treatment you had when I go to Mx over the summer. Was your botox tech located within the dentist office that you went to Or just affiliated? I just want to make sure IF a dental consultation is necessary for me to get botox for bruxism on jaw and above the temple area.
The botox technician is a doctor within the dental clinic. She also does fillers and other aesthetic treatments. They make a great team! You get to meet with both the dentist and the botox tech in a consultation ahead of the treatment to go over a plan and assess what's best for you. This is the dentist's Whatsapp # +52 55 4921 3196 (Dr. Jesus). Just shoot him a message to schedule your botox consult for bruxism
I am thinking of moving to Mexico on my own after finishing my degree, finding community is a concern for me what cities would you recommend for a Mexican-American ?
Mexico City has communities for everything! Based on what you like to do. We like to dance so we quickly make friends at dance socials. Join the Chicanos in Mexico facebook page and ask where people live and that’ll give you an idea 🙂
I'm assuming this is because it's cheaper that way? I'd be curious to know more since in the US you have to have insurance to be able to afford any care. They also have public healthcare there no? Thanks for sharing! @@EatBailaTravel
It’s definitely much more affordable to pay out of pocket in Mexico than it is to pay with insurance in the US, at least for us. The plan is for us to get insurance eventually but it’ll probably be private insurance. The public insurance and public health system has its positives and negatives. You pay a little more for the private services but you get access much more quickly and often better quality technology and resources.
Have you tried Naturopathic? Medication masks the problem, may not get to the root cause. Keep up with PT. Cupping greatly helps with Fibromyalgia. I‘ve been a Clinical Massage Therapist 21 years. I’d be happy to assist you when you visit home. I am located close to Berwyn 😊.
Does your doctor also do Botox for purely cosmetic purposes, and would you recommend them? I'm in search of someone trustworthy in Mexico City for that.
Yes they do! 😊 I would absolutely recommend them. They are super knowledgeable, professional, and just lovely people. Their latest post on Instagram (Jan 16) has the WhatsApp contact for making the appointment. They do more than just Botox, they offer hyaluronic acid injections and other services so I recommend asking about those when you contact 🙂 IG: neodent_delvalle FB: NeoDent Del Valle
Ole Jen. I am very sorry about the complications youre experiencing with your health. I too encountered either the same and more problems from life in general, military and giving birth just to keep it short! Random times of spinal cord injuries that took toll on my nervous system that baffled a nany doctors. Anyhow, I got rid of most of my health issues from spiritual deliverance. Yea, thats right, lol.. generational demons plaguing the blood line! Not to sound koo-koo crazy, but its a thing! 🎉 ill leave it at that. I am a believer in Jesus and had spent thousands of $$ chasing after cures! Jesus died so that we wouldnt have to suffer, Isiah 53, vs 4 & 5. Well, im over sharing. Richard Lorenzo amd Daniel Adams says it best. Daniel is a white guy pastor that has video's on youtube in case you're curious. I can only prayer that you seek the Lord for your health concerns, it costs you nothing but your time! ❤ God bless, ill be keeping you lifted up. 🙏
It’s not that koo-koo! This world is a mysterious place and it’s always surprising us. Healing is more than physical, it’s also mental, emotional and spiritual ✨
a huge thing with going to Mexico for ANY medical care is there is no tort law, so you have no legal recourse if they destroy your health or kill you like you do in the US because you can't sue them over there and the court system in Mexico is extremely corrupt too in general, you can't file a wrongful death lawsuit and seek monetary damages or general tort damages
The US is known as “La Tierra de las Demandas” the land of lawsuits (along many other nicknames lol). You’re right, it’s not as easy to pursue a lawsuit in Mexico. But we all take calculated risks for our health.
@@EatBailaTravel the media loves to publicize frivolous lawsuits but it’s Tort law in the US that has kept many businesses honest and alleviated tons of wrongs and sufferings through lawsuits. It’s a necessary evil. The worst thing is to be permanently damaged without recourse.
Ummm ok....Then don't do it yourself.....I sense a lot of negativity from you....why even think of suing for a wrongful death? gosh........ok go be you.....
@@karenga11 if a doctor killed your mother out of negligence for example or if a drunk driver ran over her who had money and killed her. Duh. I know you’re young but don’t be so dumb.
@@EatBailaTravel I had to look it up and apparently it’s also used for “to treat neck spasms, sweating, overactive bladder, lazy eye and other conditions. Botox shots also may help prevent migraine”. Glad to hear it’s worked for your pain! 🦷 😀

Yea we were on our way to my Botox appointment together and he distracted me for a second and almost made me laugh lol 😆
The vibrating tool was pretty nice actually 😬
Thanks for sharing the cost I was curious!
Thanks for sharing, Jenny!
Gracias a ti, Chris! Happy Sunday
I love your videos guys.
Really appreciate you leaving comments on every video! 😊🫶🏻
Wow so young so many health issue. God bless. 🙏
Thank you 🙏🏽✨
Sounds like a lot of the medical conditions you have could be solved with another Mexican remedy called the Margarita. Put your laptop away around 5:00 and consume the first one quickly, the second one will follow easily without any pain at all
😂 you’re not the first to make this recommendation. I had a relative tell me to take a shot of tequila next time I got a headache
This was a very interesting video. Thanks again for your time 💚reno nv
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much. Have a great week 🙂😊
great info

Jenny, thanks for sharing. Do make sure you wear the night guard while sleeping. If you're a teeth-grinder, you don't want to wind up with TMD, where your bite is off and you can't eat properly. Heeeelllll to the no!
What’s TMD? 😯 but yessir will do 🫡 27 hours a day like my doctor ordered lol
@@EatBailaTravel It's when you wear down your jaw muscles so much that you have pain and eating becomes difficult. You have to stick to soft food. I went through that shizzle-nit. Never again! Take care.
Oh my gosh that sounds awful. Glad that’s behind you and I will try my best to make sure it doesn’t happen to me! 🙏🏽 take care
Muchas gracias!

@EatBailaTravel I'm moving back. I'm getting things situated here, so I can leave.
Thanks again for the info you don't know how helpful it is to me.
@@EatBailaTravel Gracias Jenny - te lo agradesco oxo
awesome video..
Thank you 😀
I am thinking of moving to Mexico on my own after finishing my degree, finding community is a concern for me what cities would you recommend for a Mexican-American ?
Mexico City has communities for everything! Based on what you like to do. We like to dance so we quickly make friends at dance socials. Join the Chicanos in Mexico facebook page and ask where people live and that’ll give you an idea 🙂
buena informacion gracias
Gracias a ti 🙏🏽😊
Thanks for sharing. Do you two use any insurance to pay for stuff or is it all out of pocket?
Out of pocket for everything still
I'm assuming this is because it's cheaper that way? I'd be curious to know more since in the US you have to have insurance to be able to afford any care. They also have public healthcare there no? Thanks for sharing! @@EatBailaTravel
It’s definitely much more affordable to pay out of pocket in Mexico than it is to pay with insurance in the US, at least for us. The plan is for us to get insurance eventually but it’ll probably be private insurance. The public insurance and public health system has its positives and negatives. You pay a little more for the private services but you get access much more quickly and often better quality technology and resources.
Got it, thank you! I'd love to learn more as you decide and compare insurance options later. @@EatBailaTravel
Have you tried gua sha for your jaw and neck?
No I haven’t. Do you recommend it?
What was the diagnosis when you told them about your left foot going numb and shaking?
I believe it was a trapped nerve that I might have slept on wrong. They weren't sure but they ruled out electrolyte deficiency with a blood test.
They do more than just Botox, they offer hyaluronic acid injections and other services so I recommend asking about those when you contact 🙂

@rociobolivar4519 you’re welcome!
Jenny don’t need to get work done….she fine!
I appreciate you saying that! ❣
Masseter botox would have been like $600 to $1,000 USD + $200 to see a Specialist
Woah 😳
What happened, did you finish the video?
Yea, just tried a little something different here 🙂
This reason alone makes me wish I lived in Mexico. US medical system is 💩.
Take advantage when you visit! 🇲🇽
a huge thing with going to Mexico for ANY medical care is there is no tort law, so you have no legal recourse if they destroy your health or kill you like you do in the US because you can't sue them over there and the court system in Mexico is extremely corrupt too in general, you can't file a wrongful death lawsuit and seek monetary damages or general tort damages
I saw Botox and I thought “she already looks young and pretty, why is she getting Botox?!?” Then saw the video…didn’t know there are other uses for it
I didn’t know either! It was cool to learn about it and I’m about a month in now and my jaw pain has basically disappeared! Headaches too
@@EatBailaTravel I had to look it up and apparently it’s also used for “to treat neck spasms, sweating, overactive bladder, lazy eye and other conditions. Botox shots also may help prevent migraine”.
Glad to hear it’s worked for your pain! 🦷 😀
