I'm not much of a speedy fan but now that Swatch and Omega have collaborated on the moonswatch, it really cheapens the image of the real moonwatch IMO. Omega is after short term gains. Rolex is about long term gains. Rolex knows how to market their watches so much better than Omega. People go online and click to buy an Omega. People aspire to and hope to earn the chance to buy a Rolex. There’s no comparison. One is a commodity; one is a treasure, in the eyes of many. It all boils to marketing failures and marketing successes.
Why is the Daytona worth so much more on the secondary market compared to the Speedmaster? Easy answer: Hype and inaccessibility. I agree that Omega hasn't helped itself by releasing so many special editions either. Seems like they feel that this is the only way to maintain interest in the Speedmaster.
@@mywatchjourney6579 what you are saying is nothing but ironic. First of all, even though i like omega watches i am not gonna fight over a company which i have no connection with personally. But having said that, it's important to understand that you can't look for innovation all the time. What has been so Innovative about the daytona for the last 10 years? Whereas omega made speedmaster variants with the spirate system, chrono chime in them; within the last 3 years. If that's not innovation i don't know what is. Innovation is not their problem, at least to my eyes. They just need to make the cases smaller and improve on the bracelets.
@@exploretheinternet2334 I agree with pretty much all that you've said. Especially on the bracelet. The Rolex glidelock clasp is exceptional! Omega needs to match that at least. But what I meant is that it's very hard to innovate in mechanical watches. It's old tech. There's not much you can do. That's why we keep seeing dial color updates and snoopy logos lol.
What do you think if it is later proven with irrefutable evidence that the Moon Landings never ever occurred ? Ok, the Speedmaster would have been NASA certified for the Moon Missions but then none would have ever been there… Would these remain Moon Watches or Space Watches ? If I was every buying one it would be a 321 but I would prefer it with a white dial… The problem is that I have some chronographs, some rattrapantes but I hardly ever use these complications… I much prefer the alarm complication which I have in my JaegerLeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968… PS: GAS & FOMO, that’s for Bozos…
McCollum Memo. Oswald acted alone. We were “winning” in Vietnam. Iraq had WMD. Inflation is transitory. There is no Area 51. So yeah man, sure we landed on the moon.😂
Economist, horologist, and now we find a philosopher and gifted writer. Well done, my friend.
I appreciate that!
Great advice for all those looking to get their own Moonwatch!
It's my own personal experience in searching for a moon watch. Too much information and confusion.
So...may i ask...what was or is the tragic mistake?
I listed all of them in text in the video.
As an owner of 3 vintage moonwatches I was triggered by the title. But did I get an answer in your video? Not at all. Huge disappointment!
Perhaps you didn't like the conclusion?

Rolex is definitely planning long term. People say they move too slow, but that's their way.
Omegas decision making process is down right Ukrainian.

Not only do name limited editions. The regular models are adding to the confusion. It's a shame.
So what do you think of the new white dial? Hype ??
Very little change to me. Hardly an innovation. Omega continues to make the same mistake.

Moonwatch = 321, 861, 1861. Black with hesalite and closed back.
I think if Omega had started consistent as you suggest, they would have done better.

We'll disagree on the landing, but funny we have the same taste in watches. The Memovox is a dream watch for me.
