if the leafs can manage to remember a game is actually 60 minutes long, we might have a decent chance.. That to me is a way bigger issue than who is in net... We cant play 10-15 minutes and expect to win anything
Will Matthews, Marner and Nylander put on their big boy pants and play in the hard areas on the ice and battle for every inch of ice? If they do the Leafs have a good chance, but if the three of them insist on playing a perimeter game they’ll be out quickly.
Win or lose I just want to see some real compete in the leafs…I would like to see keefe coach some real playoff hockey, targeting guys, and keeping his lines intact, no letting up, Boston can be beat with a good system and heavy forechecking.
The Leafs, unlike vs the Panthers on Tuesday Eastern (Daylight) Time in South Florida, scored the following evening EDT vs the Bolts in Western Florida more than just the minimum 3 goals I had hoped the Leafs would score. If, and IMO that's a big if, the Leafs significantly tighten up their defensive game for their upcoming playoff series, I give them a much better chance to beat the Bruins than by playing the way they did during the last four games going into that playoff series.
I found remarkable that even with the absences of Domi and McMann, when combined with not one point from AM34, the Leafs still managed to score 4 goals on Bolts' goalie Matt Tomkins. There's no doubt that that game was a tune-up one, with the Leafs' having delivered on offense even if quite late in the 3rd period. Kris Knoblauch, Sheldon Keefe's Oilers' counterpart, puzzlingly decided to, for the Thursday EDT Oilers-Avs' game, rest not just, as his Avs' counterpart Jared Bednar did, 2 regulars (Sam Girard and Joel Kiviranta) but SEVEN (Evander Kane, Matt Ekholm, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins aka Nuge, Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard). That late game (at Ball Arena in Denver) wasn't close at 5-1 Avs, but Bednar and the Avs' coaching staff took that game seriously and gave their team a very good chance to win, with 9 of 12 forwards and 4 of 6 defensemen having earned points. Yes it was a tune-up game but it showed me an understanding the Avs' coaching staff had had to get players on that team ready for their upcoming playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets including Connor Hellebuyck.
I hope Coach Knoblauch will, for when the puck in this month's Kings- Oilers' series 1st drops late Monday EDT (likely, given the broadcast start time on those Sportsnet regional channels assigned to broadcast that game, somewhere between 10.10 and 10.25 p.m.), put on those lines for the Oilers enough of those forwards he, for this week's game in Denver, scratched because those Kings, as beatable as they are, are by no means pushovers.
They aren't built to forecheck. Mitch and Willy hate it and will never do it. That's the biggest issue.
I am a Habs fan but I do feel for the Leaf fans. I would almost like them to beat Boston. Having said that, I used to say that the Leafs would never win the Cup as long as Harold Ballard was alive. Now, I am not sure they will ever win a Cup while he is dead!
In my mind, it comes down to this…the Leafs need to want it more than their opponents. Plain and simple. I believe this team is capable of doing some damage in the playoffs. I’m just not so sure that they are willing to do what it takes.
Omg the talk of this being do or die for the core is like a never ending re-run. That's the talking point every year. If the Leafs screw the pooch again there will be some epic pundit back pedaling as usual. It will be Keefe fired and thats it.
Is this even live? I watched this already
Odog said it, "goal tending...". Sammy needs to win a Con Smythe Trophy for the Leafs to win in the playoffs. Hot Goaltending wins cups!!!
O DAAAAWWG!
JT BETTER STEP UP HIS GAME OR TAKE OFF THE C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel somewhat optimistic this year that we are better prepared for playoff hockey, the big 4 will be neutralized by tight checking so we are going to need chip-ins from other cast members. Its not only the 4 that need to step up, although they always get the scrutiny if it doesn't work. There is a reason MLSE brought in a CEO to oversee things and at the end of the day, decide for Shanny if he is back or they blow up this "Shanna-plan and move towards unloading some contracts.
I think we should have a good series this year and I really think we can win, even if it would have been Florida we are better suited. Go Leafs!!!!!
Samsanov is playing for his future.
I'm not saying anything right now I don't want to jinx the first round of the playoffs against Boston we will see who shows up to play playoff hockey Go Leafs Go
Go Leafs Go. ❤❤❤
Well we’re going with the core spread out 3 lines which is what I’ve been preaching for years for them to do, so we’ll see if it works.
Goaltending is big factors
Championship teams don't pick their opponents, they defeat them.
Literally every person I see say they believe Toronto will take it, in 6 or 7 you can see them trying to hide a smile because they obviously don't really think it can happen lol
Defense wins in the playoffs . Bruins do not give up as many goals as the leafs.
Leafs over their past 5 games have been giving up 5 goals per game. Boston should win the series
You will not go far with a PP stumbling along at 10 per cent. That's on the coach.
It's been stumbling along because nobody even wanted to shoot. They just wanted to help Auston
I think Boston will be disciplined enough to avoid penalties.
Unless Reeves can get under the skin of Marchand.
There is a history how the core 4 play in the playoffs. The only way the leafs win depends on the bottom 6. The core 4 will play this as it were just a regular season game. Now if the bottom 6 comes out with a fight in their play then the leafs can win.
What a shock! The Dog calls Leafs in 7. 😂🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻
Jeff looks good .......finally lost weight
They better ALL show up or there wil be a different look to this team come puck drop in the fall!………🍁👀🙄
I've said it all year long!! The leafs have zero killer instinct. Regular season cash cows and playoff Charmin
Marner won't be a Leaf after this year.
Like Nylander. Both are extremely overpaid
The leafs have to win in 6 not seven because been a memis forTtoronto since 2011 play hard on pasternak and marchand and get them off their game by heavy forchecking on them towards and hit them hard towards the boards and make it rough in the crease with Domi and Bertuzzi in front off the net pushing the bruins defence on the ice to make the Bruins more volernalble to score on them and out play the bruins 5 on 5 play and play hard on the bruins defence playing high on them to turn the puck over and the centre leafs have forcheck back the middle of the ice to take away defence and forwards strenght of the bruins so lets be really postive and usually nylander shows up for the playoffs so the leafs stay out of the penalty box and draws calls on them the smart way that they the bruins would do to the leafs. Lets have 60 mintes of leafs of leafs hockey by the leafs with no letdown since the Bruins played losing the ladt 3 games so the panthers would take first.Go leafs Go.
Mitch Marner just doesn't have it in him to play play-off style hockey like Doug Gilmour could. Marner is bigger that Gilmour ever was but he's easily kept to the outside. I think you'll see Marner leave this summer because I think the Bruins are sweeping the Leafs. I hope I'm wrong.
Bruins got the easiest playoff start this year.
It’s a good thing they got the leafs because the bruins have been playing weak for over a month, no denying that. They don’t have it in them to face any Florida team if they beat out the leafs
See what happens when William Bystander gets hit a few times. Will he disappear as usual or hit back? History dictates he’ll fold like a wet noodle, cause he’s Got his money. Talking about Marner, who led the team in points last season in the playoffs and what more do you want him to do, hit or fight? Funny he’s the only guy that Hayes and O’Dog say that about. Marner isn’t a hitter, or a fighter at maybe 6’ and maybe 180, he’s a playmaker that’s also your number one PK guy. The problem for the Leafs is what it’s always been, a shitty D, and goaltending isn’t much better. Will they worry about Pasta? Doesn’t matter, the Bruins #1 player is Marchand. How he goes so do the Bruins. Get him off his game and the Leafs have a chance . If not, Bruins in 5
Word!
nylanders been consistently great in the playoffs. go read a book
Don't forget Marner
@@XXBearXJewXx ..so the “Fact” that Marner had “More” points than any other Leaf in last years playoffs is a misprint?
@@bindardondat5292 ..I didn’t, read the post.
Wow did I call it!!! Odonkey says leafs win in 7!! I knew he would embarrass himself! It's like clockwork.
Need all 4 lines going and a goalie who stands on his head .
I know A.B. is professional enough to know not to have that big ass mic blocking the shot of his mug.
Bruins in 5
Leafs in 4 K.O. in T.O.! 🐐
I had to watch this just to see the odonkey embarrass himself with his takes
On the panel for the leafs games and didn't even know Nylander wasn't at practice.
Early exit means goodbye Keefe and Shanny.
Toronto has failed to progress because of its coaching! You can blame any position on the ice but if a coach is incapable of inspiring greatness and sustained consistent intensity, then you are ALWAYS going to fail. The pressure is on Keefe, treliving (sp) and shanahan. THEY are to blame and THEY should be held accountable for squandering resources.
On the eve of game 2... we cant win with that goaltending.... where's Styles? Mitchy and Papi gave the usual playoff performaces.
They are definitely walking on a championship Golf Course. Tee off is in 5 games.
The Leafs have no hope, zero chance of moving past the Bruins (who own Toronto) into the 2nd round of the playoffs in this 2023-2024 NHL playoffs. I'm not certain if there will be sunshine or rain within the next 10 days, but without a shadow of a doubt, the Leafs are going down.
Bruins in 4
Leafs need to go hard on Marchand. Get in his face and stay there. Get him off his game. He will snap and lose it.
Bruins in 5.
Leafs in 6
In the 7 years of Matthews/Marner, they have never had a 'tender that produced clutch goaltending when the pressure was the greatest. The first time a Leaf goalie outplayed his opposite number was Samsonov vs Vasilevskiy. Every other year the Leafs have been 'goalied'. First by Holtby (he won the Cup the next year), then Rask x 2 (he got to the Cup final in 2019), then Merzlikins in the Covid bubble. Andersen NEVER came up big when it counted the most. The same with Campbell, outplayed by Price & Vasilevskiy. I am hoping that one of Samsonov or Woll can be solid vs Boston. Assuming that happens, I believe Toronto will beat Boston.
I think the Leafs should hire a hypnotist and brainwash the poor defensive play out of their game....lol
PLEASE NO WES MCAULEY REF FFS
Go Canucks go go Oilers go go Jets go go Leafs go. Bring on the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Leafs in ,6
Boston can be beat.
You mean can't be beat
@@xtrickster6556 No, you're wrong once again.

Yes they can be beat. But not by the Leafs.
