God Damn...I love Mike Commodore. He's the funniest thing I've ever heard. And I've seen Mike Commodore play hockey. He was an above-average defenseman. He's not the inept guy he'd like you to think he was. He was good for blocking shots, and getting the puck up the ice. He was a fairly priced option at defense. Sure everybody wants a goal-scoring elite playmaking defenseman but they don't exactly grow on trees. Blocking shots is a man's game.

@@mikevarvouletos6535 Everyone who plays in the NHL is "good". They're in the top 0.04% of all hockey players. Do they all belong in the NHL? No, quite a lot of them are tweeners, too good for the AHL and not good enough for the NHL, but dont say Mike Commodore wasnt good. Because that's a lot of crap. Oh, and Mike Commodore managed a role on a Cup winning team, I'd say he was more than adequate for the job at hand.

John's game is solid - it's just not worth the $ tag (and that's exemplified by Toronto's cap situation). If I were GM, I'd try to retain him at far less (no more than 3-4*5) and would potentially reassign the C. Maybe he's actually a gem in the room - but you wouldn't know that from his external demeanor.

The NHLPA should hire Commie as a screener for coaches getting hired lol What gives him credibility is he was right about Babcock years before Babs was exposed and despite people saying he had sour grapes. Then when Babs was hired, he said immediately he hadn't changed and then during training camp it comes out that he was right. And what a great quote at 7:07: "You see somebody's true colours when they get in a position of power." It's cynical but true, but a huge reason why people don't do things that are legally, morally, ethically objectionable is because they aren't in a position where they could do them (and get away with it).

One of the biggest reasons EGO is your enemy is because it keeps you out of touch with reality. Your ego is what prevents you from hearing critical but necessary feedback from others. Ego makes you over-estimate your own abilities and worth, and under-estimate the effort and skill required to achieve your goals.

The smartest moves for MLSE will transpire as follows: Have Marner play out his contract and not resign him. Players on their final year of expiring contracts play harder. Once Draisaitl is available end of next year they should put the best offer forward to acquire his superior services. The current highest paid player on the Leafs couldn't care less about winning in the playoffs. 34 wouldn't sign for eight years here as he wants to keep his options open, so four years is all he gave us. If the Leafs wimp out again in next years playoffs then get rid of Prima Donna Matthews and go after McDavid when he comes available the following year. Who cares if he scores 80 regular season goals. If he can't dominate in the playoffs we don't need him. He'll be more than happy to go play in La La land. Then take the 13.25M he's getting and use it to bring in McDavid for 15M. While we're at it bring back Hyman, who's the Du(m)bass that let him go...Of course the current management in charge don't have the balls, or are willing to follow through with the best interests of the team, as long as the cash cow keeps paying them their millions, they'll bring the same "core four crap" back until the next management "team" take over ..Bowmanville Dave

Until the 3rd pair had the best numbers in the NHL, (as it was continually commented on) they then started sitting him and Samberg out as the playoffs came around. Now he's been bought out and picked up by Florida. If I was Maurice I'd be penciling Schmidt into the second pairing.. and if he doesn't that's where he should be.. and yeah he got paid a lot, but they coveted his skills , they just didn't know how to use them.

He would bang and slam on the ice and back up his teammates to the best that he could but he also had a bit of the rebel in him when it came to management. Commodore ripping Arniel is all sour grapes. Yeah, he was the highest paid d-man in Columbus, but he was slow and did not fit the up-tempo style of play Arniel wanted from his d-men. He was pissed off at Arniel for sitting him out for the home opener that season (for mobility reasons, according to Arniel) and at the time, he told the media that he sustained his hand injury during the season opener against SJ, but it was not related to his fight with Clowe. Now he says he hurt his hand in that fight.
Take a look at the Columbus defense depth chart and you'll see why Commodore was the 7th d-man. He was NOT better than Klesla, who was already a fixture on the Blue Jackets blue line for years before Commodore got there. His problem was that he thought that just because he was the highest paid d-man on the team, he should be in the lineup every night. He has a history of poor conditioning and attitude problems, so it's no surprise that his career ended after being placed on waivers.

You people need to be realistic. Marner and Traverse are not going anywhere. They are selfish and will not waive their no movement clause. Worst case scenario is you let them walk on July1st 2025. You free up over 20 million in cap space. Go out and get a number 1 goalie and defenseman and better supporting cast. Knies and Minton will have another year of experience and Cowan will make the team. Repeat after me - Leafs have no cap space to make the team better for the 2024/25 season. Even if they make the playoffs and get into the second round big deal. They are not making it to the final round. Facts do not lie. Let the talking heads talk as they have to play it up and make a living.

Bit of a loose cannon. He should learn to finish a sentence without an f-bomb. Also it's not important to voice an opinion about everybody, keep it to yourself.

Mike Commodore just needed to get out of Columbus to get the ice time he deserved and resume his NHL career. I see he played a grand total of 20 more games at the NHL level once that happened.
This is what being delusional looks like, people.

Commodore continuing to squeeze into some more attention. No one wanted to talk to this guy when he played, now he thinks he's relevant. Playing the whiny victim seems to work for him. This coach benched me....WAHHHHH. That coach benched me.....WAHHHHH. Always someone else's fault, never Commodore. Sounds like a spoiled 13 year old.
