Don’t expect anything out of him, that’s not fair to him, or to us the fans. He was a fun punching bag, but Norm saw something special in him, and to have a genius of comedy find someone special in you, I can’t imagine the heartbreak Adam is in. Sorry if its going over my head, but the back story if you don't know it makes it even more funny. It was a real Norm thing to set up his cohost to ask that. During Super Daves first episode of his solo show he starts off by speaking to the audience saying he will try something new and will answer questions from the audience. Carol Burnette stands up and asks him "Where do you get your ideas from?" , the joke being this is how she would start most of her own shows she had years before. You can see that little shit eating grin Norm has afterwards, Super Dave knew the reference but I am not so sure Adam knew it nor a lot of other people. I'm old, used to LOVE the John Byner show. Super Dave was a legend. So my whole life I liked him, finally knew him as Bob Einstein, amazing in Curb... yet it was only a few years ago that I found out he is Albert Brooks' brother!

    • @dildonius
      @dildonius 4 роки тому +14

      If you wanna see some classic Super Dave Osborne/Bob Einstein, you should look up the work he did on the legendary Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour back in the 60s (alongside other legends such as Steve Martin who were just getting their start at the time) as well as episodes and clips from his own TV show "Super Dave" which ran from 1987 to 1991. An absolute classic comedy show that is criminally underrated these days. It deserves to be remembered and celebrated FAR more than it currently is. It's the show that made the LA native Super Dave/Bob Einstein an honorary Canadian (as the show was shot and produced in Toronto, Ontario, Canada). SOOO many classic bits. The character of Super Dave is a spoof of Evel Knievel, a stuntman with Einstein's trademark acerbic wit and acid tongue who is constantly getting cartoonsishly injured when his stunts inevitably go horribly wrong. The very first segment of the show itself was a classic! The announcer...announces...that the night's special celebrity guest is none other than Ray Charles and Dave is driving him to the theater/studio at that very moment. Then their car arrives in the front parking lot and begins doing all manner of crazy car stunts - donuts, burnouts, driving on two wheels, 180° spins, etc - and the audience is wowed at Super Dave's skill in stunt driving. Then the car comes screeching right up to the theater's entrance, the driver's door opens...and it turns out RAY CHARLES was the one driving, while a terribly frightened Super Dave was in the passenger seat. Because Ray insisted on driving to the show from the airport himself lolol. So it turns out they weren't doing a bunch of crazy car stunts, that was just Ray trying to drive them to the show lololol fucking brilliant.
      Then another classic and probably most famous Super Dave bit is when he was to jump off the top of Toronto's CN Tower with only a nylon cord for protection. But at the zero hour Dave chickens out and prepares to abandon the stunt, taking off the protective nylon cord and arguing with the interviewer. Then when they decide to go back inside the tower, the interviewer opens the door, which bumps Dave and accidentally knocks him off the top of the tower and he falls all the way down, slamming onto the ground below and leaving a Wile E. Coyote-style imprint of his body on the ground that was like a foot deep lolol.
      But enough of me spoiling these classic bits, go look em up on your own. Theres FAR more to the man than his work on Curb Your Enthusiasm and his appearances on Norm's podcast here. Theres a reason he was one of the most respected legends in comedy.
      RIP Robert "Bob" "Super Dave Osborne" Einstein! ;_;7

    I assume the title is facetious for comedy's sake, but this episode was absolutely a highly calculated "disaster." Norm, Dave, and even Adam all know *precisely* what they're doing. The whole show was designed to come off this way, because it's fucking hilarious. And it's absolutely Super Dave's style, which meshes PERFECTLY with Norm's style. And even Adam's own pseudo-idiotic anti-humor style is the perfect foil for them. All of this was meticulously planned out, executed FLAWLESSLY, and was an amazing success. Which is especially hilarious when you think about certain dummies who dont understand what they're seeing and took it all at face value and thought this was all real lolol.
    Rest in Peace Bob "Super Dave Osborne" Einstein! Truly deserving of his surname, as he really was the Einstein of comedy!
