Hi mate, great video, I`m coaching too, and I am pretty sure the track marshall at 16:40 wanted you to follow him around to show you the race line and get you up to pace ( he definetly recogniced your talent mate). He signaled it by tapping on his rear, thats pretty much the official sign for "follow me" Have a good one and keep doing trackdays, you are clearly quite talented. Cheers
Hey!! No wayyyyyyy 😫😫 I never knew or was told anything about this wowww, super bummed now 😩😓😓 Appreciate this comment, thanks!! I can’t wait to go back, I want to get a lot better as a rider. At least I’ll know next time I go out but damn man, missed opportunity.
@@frissonyt Maybe you get yourself a guide for the day who can show you some track stuff. It helps a lot and the improvement in riding you will experience is just amazing
He was trying to show you around for sure. Great video. Have fun and work on the basics. Talk to the coaches, depending on who is running it they will give you lots of free advice and will follow and lead you on track to give you custom pointers.
Love your videos man I ordered a 60th anniversary R7 and I'm waiting for the dealership to get one in there isn't much content out there on the R7 so I was happy to find your channel!
Just so that everyone is aware Frisson is in the Happy Laps group at Queensland Raceway, this is a single 15-20min session at the track during lunch where anyone with a streetbike can see what a trackday is like with a speed limit for insurance reasons. They then have the following standard all day groups at the track with the marshals assessing each rider to ensure they are in the correct group for their pace/skill level: Red Group (Novice) with more stringent gear requirements, no speed limit and a no undertaking rule for corners. This group also includes some group based/occasional single rider coaching. Blue Group (Slow Intermediate) which is a step up in pace from the red but still has the no undertaking rule for corners. Green Group (Fast Intermediate) is another step-up in pace and no longer has an undertaking rule but they only want safe passing. Yellow Group (Fast) is for experienced trackday riders/racers with no restrictions aside for no dangerous overtakes.
Bruh their colour schemes should be the other way round Red group should be the fastest, blue fast inter, green slow inter and yellow novice😂 Im from a martial arts where white and yellow are lower ranked than red, that's why it seem so odd to me.🤭
You were in the beginners category, that's why you had a speed limit. So you don't have fast people passing slow people with a huge speed difference (or catching them mid corner and having to go off line). It's also because people might not know the track layout or the best line to take a corner. Plus people won't always know how to judge their braking distances and that is another place where you can get crashes if newbies start braking too early and the fast guys behind aren't expecting it. The point of the speed limit isn't just so you don't hurt yourself, it's so you don't hurt other people. At about the 10 minute mark of the video you comment on the guy in front going wide at turn 3 (end of the back straight). While he does go too wide, going a bit wide is actually the racing line. It's kind of like 2 corners because it opens up a bit mid corner then tightens again. Turn 6 (start of the main straight) is similar. So i think that when you do a proper track day you'll find you have to change your lines when you start going at speed. Same with going into turn 4, as it looked like you were turning in too early. You were getting better by the end though
@@frissonyt Just an FYI but the racing line for that double apex corner (turn 3) isn't to go wide at all you should be hitting the first apex moving closer to mid track and then hitting the second apex on the exit. I'd suggest going into the red group the next time you're out on track as they have some coaching in between sessions that will help quite a bit as a novice.
Patience my friend, it will come. It’s all about angles and apex, trust your front break. I track a 21 gsxr600 that’s 75% track and it’s awesome. I would love to have a full time track r7. Needless to say I’m hooked. I go every 4-5 weeks . Be careful, being nervous/ scared is normal, when that goes away you got problems 😂
Congrats man looked like lots of fun, I have a 60th GP Anniversary Edition R7 coming in September but I may have to buy a second one for doing track days although I don't know how well my 56yr old bones will take the punishment if I go down. We need an old geezer's class for us that road super bikes in the 80's to relive some nostalgia. 🏍🤘😎
You can definitely hear the excitement in your voice. I can’t wait until I can actually stop going to track days as a spectator and be a participant. Put my deposit down and waiting on the intensity white r7.
Great video mate, can you show me your moto vlog setup and how you do it. Would help very much as im interested in doing some pov riding myself. Cheers. Keep up the good work.
Looked like so much fun! The speed limit must have been very annoying, especially when you want to catch your buddies! You want to go to the track to escape the speed limits hahah! I can't wait to do my first track day, but need a better motorbike license for my local tracks
Great vidéo🤩✌️, happy that you we're able to live this expérience, and that you will do it again I Hope: smile from beginning to end 🙂, love " let's go baby" for you bike. @@frissonyt ahhh gotcha. I just saw ur other video when you were on your way to the track, must have missed it if you were talking about it. Seems you enjoyed your first track day! hopefully the next one is not a "warm up" lap hahaha.
I’m in the novice but will be in intermediate, I’d rather be fast novice then slower intermediate. No speed restrictions on ours. 135ish, just can’t pass on turns
guess what, people dont know their limits which is why you generally get a most crashes in the slower groups. We had to change our wording and strike some fear at the briefing, nothing major just stuff like ride within your means, there is no prize money, no trophies, repair bills from crashing are expensive not to mention medical and time off work, have fun but dont go full retard. We have had up to 25 crashes per day, some people crashed twice. Once we changed wording it basically halved or better over night. We explored the speed limit for the new group, it wasnt for us, we briefed our corner workers to report dangerous riding, guys too fast/slow, we would position rolling marshals strategically if there were crashes or unsafe riding. We were a victim of our own success so much so, management wanted to cut paid positions, NBD i was already spending too much time there, pay peanuts you get monkeys, they ended up loosing the contract lol. All this money spent sending someone up from head office, to try and reduce costs to maximize profit only to loose the entire revenue stream was a poor business decision
I like your video that’s why I’m commenting so much. Get a quick shifter and get rid of the talking to your partner , all attention should be on the course, just trying to help, good job

How are you allowed to use a helmet mounted camera? On Track Days they are only allowed to be mounted to the motorcycle.
Is it a Happy laps thing?

This speed limit sucks, everyone should know their limits, tracks are made for grown men didn't understood that
For real, worst part about it. That’s why you come to the track because the streets have speed limits, the track shouldn’t

why does a race track have a speed limit? that makes zero sense to me?

I want a quick shifter so badly, not much stock going around lately 😩
never heard that theres a speed cap on a RAETRACK xd and with passing someone, sounds like scam
what they don't realise is a 75MPH means 160MPH on the road
😳
Who the heck puts a speed limit on a track ? I am beyond confused
I am just guessing that i has to be a beginner speed restriction so nobody flys off the track
Yeah, ‘happy laps’ is a beginner introductory way to go onto track for cheaper cost as well
That was your first time ever on track and they just let you loose and said there’s a speed limit and no passing in turns???
Pretty much lol, had a little brief talk but didn’t say much more else than to understand that there would be riders of all levels.
