At £219 It's too much as it is only useful in the bird breading time, that is only one time per year, so I purchased a blink camera that cost me £40.00 and purchased a bird box that cost me £10.00 then installed the camera in the top, and now I can watch when it is nesting time and take it out to monitor my side gate for the rest of the year, and put back next year, to do it all again, but the video was very entertaining, thanks. 🤨
Thank you. That's fair enough and sounds like a good setup for you, hopefully you'll get some nesting birds to watch in there. I do understand that the nesting season is what everyone wants to watch. However, I have enjoyed seeing a Blue Tit spend the winter in my nest box too, by coming back each night to roost. Either way, good luck and glad you enjoyed the video ☺️
Hey there. That looks like a brilliant bit of kit. The camera is full of features, great memory capacity..is it upgradable if you wanted to put in larger memory card for a longer duration of recording? Another question if you don't mind answering, can the memory be wiped in situ ie remotely from your phone so that you can continue to use this seamlessly without having to disturb the box? A great video. Certainly a great idea and opens up alot of possibilities and questions all of which I'm sure you will be asked. 👍
Hey! No the Micro SD card is built into the camera, but with 80 hours of recording time and a relatively short nesting window, it should be fine for the duration required. According to the information provided within the App, any new videos will be written over the oldest videos should the memory card become full. However I haven’t had the camera long enough to test any of this. Hope this helps! Thank you 😊
@@OnlyNatureHello Tom. Thanks for replying. That does help. Looking forward to see who or should I say what decides that this is their "new house". ☺️
Two questions.1. How do you access the SD card to increase capacity? and 2. Removing the backplate of the solar panel is not mentioned in the manufacturers video so is it really necessary? Many thanks.
Sorry for the late reply! I have checked the camera and see no way of actually accessing the SD card inside, so unfortunately you wouldn’t be able to change or upgrade it with this model. As for the solar panel, it is required. The batteries within the solar panel are taped at both ends, therefore this must removed for the panel to become fully charged once in use. I believe this is a requirement for batteries of this nature to be shipped safely. Hope that helps ☺️
Great question, it’s something I’ve thought about doing myself. You could definitely stream a screen capture from one of your devices but I’m not sure if there’s an easier way of doing it. I hope that helps 😊
Hi, it automatically records when motion is detected, however in the Record Settings of the app you can schedule the camera to record for as long as you want, for example: Friday 6pm - Sunday 10am. You can also manually record from the camera whilst in the app by pressing the record icon. Hope that helps! 😊
I’m not sure, I did try and have a look for you. The camera manufacturer is called Nestera so maybe you can find one. The box has a removable front panel and includes 28mm and 32mm hole protection plates to change the pre-cut hole size. I hope that helps!
It does have internal memory so wifi wouldn’t strictly be required but it definitely helps in viewing and downloading the footage without disturbing the box. Hope that helps
Neat camera but poor box design. The box should open for cleaning and ease of removal of the nest of an invasive bird species. Finally, no discussion of the hole size....
Actually the entire front of the box can be easily removed for cleaning purposes, sorry if I didn’t make this clear in the video. It also includes 28mm and 32mm hole protection plates to change the pre-cut hole size, which I apologise for as I definitely missed this out of my review
@@OnlyNature Thanks for the info. I was more concerned about getting in and out quickly to remove an invasive bird's nest that was started on top of a Blue Bird nest. Hinged side access is best. With a side access, you can add a Noel guard on the front without interference.
Oh I see! I wasn’t familiar with these before so that’s a great point, thank you. My next bird box review features a side hinge access so I’ll probably mention that ☺️

For next time it should be “6 INTEGRATED BATTERIES” 😅

Can you livestream on UA-cam with this?

The camera record 24/7 or only wher motion is detected?

Any distributors in Canada? Can you adjust the hole size?
