IMO, I like the design of this variant of Guntank a lot more than the classic Guntank. It has that nice modern world design and it's definitely chonkeh in the right way, which I definitely love.
Hopefully the Guntank Mass Production( 08th MS Team) will get HGUC release someday. I'm happy we get the RD ver. It's like a mirror ver of Guntank early type from The Origin.
@@CappnRob nope. Its still look modern despite the age it was made from. Guntank don't need Revive. The proportion overall matching with MG counterpart. He is holding just fine like HG Z'gok & Zeong.
I absolutely love the origin guntank. I never really liked the goofy 70's toy aesthetic of the original guntank but this. This is one of my favorite designs in the whole franchise.
I love how they redesign it. The hull now looks like a M4 Sherman. The track rollers look like they are modernized VVSS suspension too. Now we’ll wait for the Guntank Thunderbolt version :)) Edit: a person pointed out the suspension system looks more like the VVSS on the earlier Sherman models than the HVSS on the later models. The hull of this suit look like a M4A2 early with the VVSS.
I really enjoyed the scenes involving this thing, really felt like an absolute unit. As someone who's only seen a couple episode of the original MS Gundam anime, I was a little confused that these were around long before any actual Mobile Suits in when I watched The Origin.
It's because the RX-65 is not a MS but a tank The EFSF had old ideas about warfare this is why they kept producing veichles that were more like tanks with a robot torso than actual MS and this is why Zeon had a great ad vantage before EFSF introduce their real mass produced MS (the RGM-79)
Origin changes the lore a good bit is part of the reason. In the original tv series the Guntank was a prototype along with Gundam and Guncannon, each one experimenting with different approaches to counter-MS warfare. Origin changes it so Guntanks have been around a while and Guncannons are more of a half step from that to full fledged close range MSes like the Gundam. It’s weird lol

I have a real soft spot for the Guntank and its many variants. I ADORE this kit and used an ink wash to bring out the details like MechaGaikotsu suggested. I wish Bandai would give the Guntank line some more love and release some of its other variants- I'd kill for an MP Guntank (08th Ms Team), Ground Assault Guntank (MS Igloo) or Guntank II (MSV, Zeta, Unicorn.)
I've been doing the same thing and painting behind clear parts or visors to make them pop, but I've tried the Molotow Chrome and the Gundam Shine Silver EX and I feel the EX is much better as it is a really bright sliver that makes the piece pop vs the Chrome.
I just got the classic Guntank because it came as a freebie and now I want this. This is giving me some Armored Core vibes when you use tracks instead of the bi pedal or even quad legs.
You should try the1/100 MG RX-75 Guntank.. it has working Tank threads and the core fighter is compatible with MG Gundam 2.0 aka Senior Gorrila hands..and any MG GM's with 2.0 frame
With the silver marker at 3:00, I've also gotten amazing results using a Molotow Chrome marker. Don't know how that one compares to the Silver EX, but the Molotow's like a mirror, it's incredible. Hell, I use it instead of many of the RG foil stickers. 12/10 best gunpla detailing tool I've invested in.

There is nothing wrong with that old HGUC Guntank. There is nothing much to update. The proportion is okay, the rubber thread is exactly similar to all existing military kits. In fact we don't need the Revive of Guntank.
@@casvalcat3546 it’d be nice to give it double jointed arms and maybe a waist swivel and a tighter engineered shoulder cannons. And yes canonically because of the core booster it should have limited waist action but Bamco is pretty lax on that detail when model kits can’t actually incorporate a core booster lol
For sticker style decals, it can actually work for the Guntank. A lot of units (the one I was in) love to do this annoying thing of spray painting a square before stenciling in lettering. (Mostly just on the green camouflage primer color scheme that a lot of vehicles are in right now tho transitioning from the tan desert scheme to a solid green now that the war is over.)

ive actually built two of these, as well as three of the mass production types...nice little army builder kits, though the firing arc on the Early Type isnt the greatest
Classic earth federation with their pretty poorly thought out pre-gundam mobile suit designs lmao. I don't think the early type was even meant to operate outside of the colonies for that reason. At best, they're just large hunks of metal made to keep colony inhabitants in check. Doesn't detract from its badass design though. It makes me want to see an origin spin off about an early type crew still operating the otherwise obsolete mobile suit in the OYW against most odds ala MS IGLOO.
@@possibly8180 oh without doubt, the Guntank Early Type was horribly unstable when brought up to speed, and there were some other problems with the prototypes design that were ironed out for the mass production unit, mostly, but its still an interesting model kit...
This was the second kit I ever built(after HG Heavyarms). It's well sized for an HG kit, I had a lot of fun building, and it looks great to pose/look at. I highly recommend if you're a fellow Weaponized WALL-E enjoyer(not my meme). Even more so if it's on sale.

I like the original Guntank much more. Its so cute with its awkward limbs and bug like head! If the Gundam was the soul of Project V, the Guntank was its heart. And the Guncannon was the skin?
Designs like the guntank don't sell well unfortunately which is why bandai is pretty apprehensive about releasing merchandise for it. I could use a kit of the guntank 2 tbh.
Id love one of these BUT the only place can find one is selling it , along with every other Origin for over, $40 US. Got my Black TriStar Zaku for about $ 20 a year and half ago.
Oooooooh... I could do some BEAUTIFUL things with this beast and a couple rattle-cans of red and blue... make Guntank Early Type here look more like Guntank Classic. Also, the chrome-silver behind the clear-part visor isn't that dissimilar to what I like to do with Citadel Contrast paints... IE use them over a shiny metallic base-color like Iron Hands Steel from Citadel or Plate Mail Silver from The Army Painter.
I love Origin Line, I buy a Zaku all time, and in my backlog I have 2 Gundam US type. I really want see Gouf, Gouf Custom, Dom and Geelgog Origin type.
I think you should try out the HG bugu (ramba ral custom) next. Another nice origins kit, with a interesting feature in the mono-eye (rotates with the head).

I would go for the Sazabi, if you will have a shell full of rg's then the Sazabi really pops.The build of that thing is also super good, the parts fit together nicely and it doesn't feel flimsy because of its bulk. hope that helps :)

tracks pops off way too easily though, and you cant quite glue them together and still have a functional track. but damn if it isn't awesome.

God I loved this thing to bits. I went crazy and Plasmo'ed my copy. In the end my love for robo and tanks was deeply satiated.

Silver EX is different, for that you want the Chrome EX. Molotow and Chrome EX are actually tied in quality

@@casvalcat3546 true. I'm not a fan of the original guntank's color scheme but the rest of the kit was pretty much dialed-in from the get go.

Quite a few of my fave Gunpla builders (including Mecha) do live builds: Zakuarelius, Prime 92, Jabman etc. 🤷♂️

You should review the 2001 HG Guntank next! I picked one up from a hobby expo in California and it's held up surprisingly well for such an old kit.

This was my first gundam model, and I really like it. Unfortunately, there's nothing else like it in their line-up.
Check out the EX Model Hildolfr. It is expensive but that tank based mobile suit is overkill.
