Didn’t even realize this video had 490 views instead of 490k views like I initially thought until I looked at it a second time. I had no clue this was from a “just starting out” UA-camr, couldn’t even tell by the quality of the video. Very well done, good commentary, solid audio quality, smooth editing and clean cuts, etc. Thumbnail looks fantastic too
Saw a thing called the judgement theory claiming judge is an mk ultra type import to the PD and it starts checking out when you can find little things like magazine front covers about brain microchips and the voice logs in gerard's house. Its a cool little detail I hope they run with in future story installments
Personally, I think that the medium of video games begs for exaggeration. In that manner, Ready or Not elevates the crimes in a way that allows it to be "fun" in a manner of speaking. Elephant and Neon Tomb cannot have a small enemy count for example, as while it may be more realistic to life examples it wouldn't capitalize upon the gameplay mechanics nearly as much. As for your comment about Copaganda at the end, I think you may misunderstand. Copaganda is media created for the purpose of making law enforcement as a system be more heroic or successful than it is and/or to excuse bad behaviors as good (Law and Order comes to mind with police brutality getting used to get confessions or information). It is in this manner that Spider's Den dramatizes its subject matter to enforce the idea that society needs militarized police forces to take on these issues. Regardless, I appreciate your videos and am glad to have found your channel.
Thank you for your insights :D, I do think I slightly misunderstood the copaganda part but imo even if it does seem to be suggesting that armed police is necessary, it's not an endorsement. It strikes me as more of a statement than anything which is why I think it isn't copagands, but that is just me, so obviously I might be wrong. Thanks for watching though, and I'm glad you enjoyed :)
To me as someone who regularly advocates for less policing systems (when warranted) I believe pro-police or Copaganda is when a piece of media sensationalises the day to day experience as a law enforcement officers in an enjoyable way. At no point during this game did I want to be a police officer, and I think it's because of its courageous and unsensationalised approach to the true gritty nature of what some civilians and officers experience.
“Empty” “helpless” I felt that throughout the entire game, even being equipped with mk18s and kevlar. First, it was when a guy in the 4U gas station said about the suspects “I think I know those guys”. Most of the criminals are just desperate civilians with guns. Its not the suspects, but the city that is deranged. Crime makes more crimes, and is then intensified by a natural hurricane. it’s impossible to point at one single factor that caused it all. It at times feels cosmic. The looming threat is far larger than a few gunmen, and all you can do, is be a policeman. It feels like you have a broken car, and the only thing you have to tackle its repair is a hammer.
People fundamentally forget this game was not made by americans. It was made by irishmen and new zealanders. Irish people, for whatever reasons, heavily dislike american gun culture and policing culture The bulk of the post-early-access development would have occured after the christchurch attack. The developers seem to have a vested interest in depicting the united states as a dystopia. Because they likely consider the US a dystopia.
Are they wrong though? This is quite literally the reality of what it is in the United Stated. Or are you too wrapped up in propaganda to realize otherwise?
@@allengordon6929 ironic, considering American police were created by Irish immigrants to Boston in response to the Irish Mob following them over here.
Most games have one moment that sticks with you. Ready or not (for me) has three. Elephant, neon tomb, and valley of the dolls. The fact this game managed to have three memorable disturbing moments just shows how good the developers are at crafting experiences like this. You did a good job showcasing the game in this video, great job. I hope your channel blows up.
People who say ready or not is copaganda haven’t played the game. This game doesn’t display cops as hero’s. No saving the day, you can’t save everyone. I would go in more detail on how crazy the lore drops in the missions but it gets more intense the more you look. This video was great but somethings I see were missing details. If you ever need someone to help you clear missions and put together more hidden details. Lmk

Hey, more reload animations are nice from a gameplay perspective! Provided animation cancels don't exist, different animation sets based on whether or not you empty the mag can be used to create staged reloads as well as visually communicating to the player 'hey, you emptied your gun. This reload will take longer" which, in tandem with staged reloads, allows for 'swapping to your sidearm / secondary' to be a more worthwhile tactic, as it doesn't reset your progress should you be interrupted. Seriously, though. This was a great watch! Well written with clean, easy to follow edits. Keep up this quality and you'll gain good traction in no time!
6:43 a mass shooting just saying, does not mean something like Columbine it is just when 3+ people are injured by bullets (ex a gang drive by) in the best scenario but yeah shit like this still shouldn’t happen
Was talking abt the game to a friend, had to be careful what i said. (I Live in GA) because 3 kids in ny county have already been questioned/arrested for threats :/
I shit you not. On the neon tomb chapter an add for "pulse" came up, it was like a rainbow heart, i think it was for a band? Either way, super ironic. Great video, look forward to more of your work. Instant sub
Thank you so much for sticking around :D, this one is less in-depth because I'm cooking up an Elden Ring video that's even longer than the DarK Souls video but I didn't want to leave everyone waiting :D do hope you still enjoy tho :)
The developers are from ireland and new zealand. The game's depiction of the police may be based moreso off of new zealand police and the gardai. You see, in those two countries, only swat teams carry guns. Most of the initial missions except for the server room cheese pizza stash and possibly the bilionaire pedophile bust would be done by normal police IRL.
First off, I greatly enjoyed your nuanced and non-condemnative perspective and presentation of the world that ready or not portrays, But As someone who _has_ been inspired by ready or not and similar media to pursue a future in a law enforcement career I understand how one could be puzzled by it, but stating that pursuit of psychological help is necessary for people who see what some brave men and women are willing to go through to allow at least some people to make it out of horrendous situations safely and stop further blood shed seems disingenuous at best and narrow minded at worse...
Yeah, that's a fair perspective. I didn't mean to come across so aggressive like that but was more trying to highlight that anyone who would want to join law enforcement wouldn't because the game made them seem cool, or tried to shy away and hide the truth of what they go through. Sorry if I sounded overly judgemental, wasn't my intention and I'll be sure to be aware of it next time.
@@NotSaberFrr ah, it's ok, I myself have trouble with tone, both deciphering but more often conveying sarcasm/humor, I didn't mean to be aggressive either, more wanting to share my own perspective and hopefully help people understand it better 😌
Couple things to note: 1. If RoN is "copaganda" then why does it routinely go out of its way to make you feel like you aren't always the hero when playing it? Why does it even allow you to shoot/hurt/kill innocent/unarmed/non-hostile NPCs, and more-on PUNISH you for doing so? Why does it even bother taking the time to humanize the enemies? None of that stuff would be in a propaganda piece because it completely goes against what propaganda is. This is yet again a completely media-fabricated scapegoat in yet another attempt to try to attack video games for being 'bad for society' instead of focusing on real issues. 2. We really, REALLY need to stop using "realism" as this blanket term stand-in for immersion. How "realistic" a piece of fiction is does not necessarily equate to how immersive it is. What I think is a much better word to use is BELIEVABLE. Believability can help fiction. Appealing to realism CAN help believability, but I also don't need to believe that space wizards are real to have a piece of Star Wars fiction immerse me. Your suspension of disbelieve is what dictates how immersed you are in something. It's up to the piece of fiction to make an earnest attempt to make you believe that what is being shown/told to you IS believable. If the established rules of said fictional universe says that the average space wizard can push & pull things with a slight of hand then simply staying consistent with that rule with believable explanations for exceptions IS immersion even though the basis of said concept is ridiculous and "unrealistic".
"Why does it even allow you to shoot/hurt/kill innocent/unarmed/non-hostile NPCs, and more-on PUNISH you for doing so?" Cops getting punished for doing that sure is a better version of policing than we have now. A propagandistic version you might say. Part of copaganda is presenting highly militarized police as a necessary part of society including the evils that bring. SWAT extremely rarely goes on calls anything like they do in RoN. 99.9% of the time they go out to serve drug warrants and nobody gets shot at, they aren't going out to take down terrorists in night clubs.
Only as a reponce unit... perhapse there can be a premptive system? Detect those *most likely* to have an issue and act the second the actual tools to start a crime start to be gathered?
Woah there buddy. You're sounding awful 1980s eastern europe. I genuinely hope this was a joke because if it wasn't you need to reevaluate your opinions on literally everything.
I don't think that there is any problem with how this game shows the struggles of being a police worker either! However something being "copoganda" has nothing to do with that, if you want to persuade someone into joining or supporting the police, you should in fact strive to make it seem as challenging and grueling as possible as that will make it seem more admirable...
Have you heard of the term, "atrocity propaganda"? It's a type of propaganda that only highlights the evil of the opposing side to justify intervention against them. Propaganda isn't always about making one side look good, it can also be about making one side look worse while ignoring the numerous IRL issues of the protagonist side. Copaganda isn't necessarily about recruiting you to be a cop, it is about making you justify that their deadly force is necessary in nearly all contexts by only highlighting extreme exaggerated examples. The game is fun, but there are no unjustified raids in it.
