    It's funny how people complain and expect it to perform like a BMW 3-Series. It's a Nissan Sentra. People buy it to get from point A to point B. It gets nearly 40 mpg highway. It has an upscale look when compared to it's competition, has a huge trunk and a roomy interior with a lot of rear leg room(comparable to some mid-size cars). It's a bargain.

    Totally and completely in love with my Sentra SR! Test drove 8 other cars in its class and the Sentra came out on top! No buyers remorse here!

    After a week owning this car I can say its great. It has a nice eco meter on the dash guiding you on your accelerations for fuel economy, when i started I was averaging 7.7mpg but now i've got it down to 6.8 in the city. It looks amazing and the ride is quiet and smooth. I couldnt be happier for $18k. Plus the insurance is cheaper than a honda civic by a nice amount.

    Point taken, and to add to that, the amount of tech that you can get for the price is actually worth the money! I am an owner of a 2013 SR in Amethyst Gray. Since the purchase, the convenience of knowing that I can use my car nav and not my phone, having a back up camera and also being able to send addresses and POI's to my car from my phone is something that I find convenient. 130 HP is more than enough HP for daily driving. I do not plan on racing the Nurbring anytime soon :)

    I own a 2003 Sentra SE-R CVT with 165 bhp. I find that although the extra 30 bhp over the base model is great, I rarely utilize the power. I drive in city and highway environment daily.
    I am more concerned about efficieny and styling, and this new Sentra has both! Nevermind the previous gen, between mine and the new, that was not the greatest.
    I believe that this car will fulfill all my needs, and I am a 24 y.o. male looking to start a family within the next 6 years.

    I totally agree, the previous version was more unique and very recognizable. Also not sure why Nissan, Honda, and Toyota don't offer hatchback version of their compact cars. Look at how great Mazda 3 is doing their 2 body styles offering, especially in Canada.

    As a Nissan Salesman I would have to say that you are right. But if you noticed Nissan Scaled down there pricing on each model. So in the same price range the SE-R would have been in I would be showing you the Altima or the Juke ( I know) and the Altima Coupe.

  • @MarioRoussel

    Why is everybody complaining about CVT ? A Friend of mine has an 08 Sentra with the CVT, after you get used to the sound of it, it's great, cheap on gas, and don't noticed it after 10 minutes in the car... Don't expect high performance from this car, when in fact it is design for normal driving and Fuel Economy... be realistic !!

    Damn, I love the new look. Best looking car in its segment (the SR of course). And although its not a fast car, right now I care more about stellar gas milage (Sentra has best in class) then I do speed.

    Here we are with a car getting bigger during a redesign. This Sentra is almost midsize from a decade ago. Also lack of a hatch or wagon version will be a deal break for a lot of people.

    I was ready to see new SE-R and Spec V models before the Sentra was revealed, and was very disappointed when they scrapped them. Now Nissan has gone all value and a step back in terms of performance. I'm more interested now in the new 2014 Kia Forte with its very potent engines (2.0 173HP & 1.6 Turbo 201HP)

    • @screaminjesus
      @screaminjesus 9 років тому

      William T. There's nothing wrong with the cvt, it makes the best use it can out of the 1.8 litre engine. I have the '13 sr and haven't had any issues with the cvt, it handles steep hills like a champ.

    Good job Nissan... I notice the cheap Sylphy horn made it to the Sentra now LOL. They pulled off a lot of car for very reasonable asking price, though I hear they haggle suppliers like Walmart does.... Why not offer the 1.6Turbo from the Juke as an option?

  • @wtrdogg20
    @wtrdogg20 11 років тому

    No a bad car, I dont like the maple wood imitation trim insertions, brushed metal would be better. Not a bad interior, but I feel the Elantra is more appealing in the value compact car segment, it has better reviews, better fuel economy, no CVT, more power and torque, more balanced and it is more complete for the price.

  • @KeeptalkinSPit

    Nissan needs to add the 175hp Altima engine to the SR model with optional 6 speed, then this car would sell like hotcakes. 130hp with one person maybe fine BUT 4 friends and you have a struggle that no one wants to witness or participate in. At least take notice of the VQ engine swaps that were done on the 02-06 Sentra Spec V's and capitalize on it. Make like 300 and see the demand for a Limited edition V6 (Altima engine) Sentra SR or Spec V, these would sell trust me. The Spec V's are fun cars, hell i still drive my 2003 Spec V to this day with 166.000 miles never had a problem with it but the most important thing is it's fast and fun to drive. The new Sentra looks good at least the SR model but has nothing backing it but good gas mileage and tech in a sporty looking car. I see the direction they went but they didn't keep a good thing going which was the sportier version of the car. It's like their battling the Corrola for the "Plain Jane" award.

    Having seen this car in person, it looks fairly dorky (at least from the back). The profile is too tall and narrow, and the bug-eye taillamps are silly. And I don't like the steering wheel. But I do like the value!

    Hmm, not bad, I dont like the maple wood imitation trim insertions, brushed metal is better. The interior looks OK and overall looks good, however, I do see in the rear end some Toyotish style.
    It's interesting that he didnt mention the Elantra as a competitor, only Civic and Corolla, like the Elantra was no match. LOL! Huge mistake!! The Elantra is the first one trying to beat this Sentra, starting for the price range, plus it has better engine performance, no CVT and represents better value.

    Looks like a Lexus-- drives like a corolla. Well, looks like Nissan has officially ceded the sporty/fun to drive segment to Mazda and ford. It's too bad-- the old sentra SER was a good car and a worthy alternative to the Si, SVT and mazdaspeed offerings.

    ... And driving it is like taking a nap. I'm sorry to see Nissan go the way of the corolla on this car-- hard to say I blame them as boring/bland is what sells. I drove the elantra this week and I came away impressed: it's got cavernous room especially in the backseat, fit and finish is excellent andit's competent on the road-- but it's not fun. Unfortunately, of you want fun in this segment Mazda and Ford are the only games in town.

    Actually to correct your statement, poor guys are the ones who want the hp and the more conservative money savers are the ones who want more fuel efficiency. Ideally, poor people want things that will make them feel as though they are now past the point of being poor. More over, people with money value the fact that they can buy what they need in an automobile and more of what they want in a home. These same people who complain about hp will be the same ones complaining if gas reaches $7.00
