- The FMS Futura could be one of the best 80mm sport jets (EDF) out there today. This is a very well behaved sport jet. Pretty predictable and solid performance. In this video I unbox, assemble and fly this plane and show some basic performance and maneuvers. I installed the KM RC Model Afterburner too. Great system and looks outstanding.

I love the Futura. Great flyer. Very nice Will Steffen review! The build was very detailed and the afterburner install was a great addition. Very well done brother!
You were right Adam. What a great flying plane. Really enjoying her.
Good demo Will. I think you hit on it's ability to perform well with good speed and yet not be so critical concerning it's ability to fly with a safety margin. So, I hope that last feature contributes to a plane that is fun with less worry. I can empathize with your depth perception issue. That is where I end up having trouble as well. I don't know if you are the type to risk flying at dusk when the light has really faded, but I'll bet your afterburner can really 'shine' with those conditions.
Thanks.. Its a wonderful plane and I hope to get lots of flights with her..
Will, you mention adding about 1mm of "reflex" up on each aileron - a mechanical trim you set in. I have no clue why; maybe the next time you fly this bird you can shed some light on why you do that? Slows the jet down a bit, I can only guess? I watch all of your videos but since I'm not ready for jets yet, I may have missed if you explained this "tweak" you do, on a prior video. Great stuff, great channel- keep it up my friend.
Hey Rob, Adding a little up (reflex) in the wing tips creates what some call washout in the wing. This can help with slow speed stalls. At least thats the theory. The wing will fly slower before it stalls. I've witness this trick on some other planes with higher wing loading and it did help. I may try to do some testing on this Futura and see if there is a noticeable different... Thanks
@@SteffenRC Thanks so much for explaining Will, it makes sense now. Familiar with washout for reading Tom Hallman's column in Model Aviation and watching his youtube channel "maxfliart". I eventually would like to try my hand at Free Flight also - it seems very relaxing once the plane is trimmed out right. Great to know you can adjust ailerons to get the same effect.
Love redemption.
