  • We made this jet fly slower than it lands. GPS speed in high alpha hit 18 MPH, with normal touchdowns coming in at 25 to 30 MPH. Check the back end of the vid to see the high alpha performance - it's capable WITHOUT any mods. This is a normal 6 channel setup. Like what you see? Pick one up via:

    Great flying and review as always. I bought one of these today from my friend who didn't like the way it flies because he only flew it twice with a 5500mah, heavy battery. I'm getting it basically brand new ready to fly for $150. And thanks for including speed tests, many of us appreciate this data.

    FMS really nailed it w this plane, imo the strut springs are stiff otherwise not a single issue. It comes w me to the field every single time and it always brings a grin. One member bought one and others are looking at it now, on Sunday we clocked it at 138, full dive to level, roaring top 70c4400.
    I wasn’t a fan of the look at first, but it’s grown on me, easy to see in any weather

      Going fast is neat, but have you ever tried flying slower than the jet normally lands? That's where the real fun is.

  • @OraTab
    @OraTab Рік тому +1

    I purchased this Jet thinking I'd be as cool as you guys flying it, but I've sucked at its landings a "couple" of times! LOL. Interestingly, the only damage I've done to it so far has been breaking the nose (which isn't a big deal to glue back), and I've broken the front gear door (which I've removed, given that I've broken it more than once!).
    I'll keep at it, but one thing I have noticed is that I've been using my CG as per the manual. I flew it once with the battery pushed backwards (as you showed on your video) and I managed to perform a perfect landing! From now on, I'll CG it on the mains (as you've noted down here somewhere), and keep at it. This plane is so beautiful, I'll probably use this one as a beater to hone in on my landings and get another one! I also have a brand new (just assembled) FMS BAE Hawk, but I think I'll keep that one in the hangar until I can land this guy right all the time.
    Awesome videos! Thanks for sharing!!!

      We're happy to see that you're enjoying it with the CG over the mains - the further back it goes (up to a point), the better a model will fly!

    Love the Futura, I have about 150 flights on the Purple V1. I didn’t buy the blue/grey/white V2 because I think it would have been difficult for me to see in the air. I will pick up a new V3 sometime this year. My Viper 90MM remains my favorite EDF, but at almost $700 with tax and shipping, I’m not sure I’ll replace it when the time comes. The Futura, (and Free Wing Avanti 80MM) are pretty hard to beat at $400 shipped.

      No approximate CG required, it literally balanced directly over the center of the main wheel wells. It's not a CG you'll want to fly it at if you're not used to the jet, but it does handle really nicely. Lots of expo with the throws we use will be required. Just got this plane and about to maiden it. Also going to use SMC 4400mAh.
    I’ve been told to shove it forward and carve the canopy so the battery fits in order to get the factory CG recommendation.
    I see yours isn’t even all the way forward. Do you mind shedding light?
    I’m confused and torn.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  9 місяців тому +1

      We fly with 4400s if we want a little more flight time, but use 3600s shoved all the way back to make it perform stable high alpha passes. The factory CG is incredibly nose heavy and can be safely discarded. Ours balances over the main wheels. Add expo to compensate for the additional pitch authority to tamp it down and you'll be totally fine. Just be aware it will experience accelerated stalls easier if you're not smooth on the sticks, but good airmanship will fix that.
