@Sbinnala my dealer and 2 other mechanic said you can tell by the supercharger casing . If it's a square and not concave it's been updated . They use a larger intercooler look at 2015 and 2016 LT4 blowers and than 2017-19 there different
May 2023 I bought a 2016 Z06 3LZ A8 convertible in Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic. I have owned a 1991ZR-1 and a 2011 CTS-V. I'm glad to be back in a Corvette...It is awesome. Thanks for the video!
Excellent video. I have 16 Z06 & it’s an amazing car. I agree with your sentiment that for the money, it’s everything you could want in a sports car. It’s my daily & it puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.
@@brendandrives torch red. I own a collision repair shop so I bought it with some light accident damage. I actually just got it finished & painted last week.
watched this because i'm in the market specifically for a z06, but regardless your presentation was great and the channel shows a lot of promise. i'm sure a lot of us are fatigued by so many reviewers being overcaffinated, so a more laid back approach is welcome.
You can track it with some cooling mods but if you want to track it get a 17+. They added and aux rad, better cooling bricks and lid for the super charger and I think some things. Just don't add more power. DSC sport controller helps settle the rear end to hook but really it just needs better tires like a toyo r888r. With better tires she hooks just fine. I'm 300 wheel over stock and I hook fine in 2nd, just need to roll into it in first
Sheesh, that’s wild to hook at over 900bhp but yeah the tires on this rental were not ideal. I feel like it would be a serious handful on track at stock power levels!
Nice video great review. I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on a C7 manual coupe Z06 or maybe the Grand sport... Id like to test drive each to decide based on my personal use. My C3 build has NA BBC 620/650 so I'm thinking she needs a C7 Z cell mate
Sounds like you have an incredibly fun decision on your hands. I don't know enough about the rest of the drivetrain to know if there is a significant strength difference in the Z06 or not. I have heard a Grand Sport is a sweet spot.
I travel for a living and I rent sports cars whenever I can, including various Mustangs, Challengers, and Corvettes, and my daily driver at home is a Corvette C7. It's a well-handling car and better than the others in the same price category. The Tesla is just as fast, but the Corvette will handle better than the heavy Tesla. One more surprise with the car is that it gets good mileage if you travel a long distance, 26-29mpg, if you can avoid idling for any long period of time. Mishimoto makes an aftermarket, larger radiator if you want to avoid heat soak. Elite Engineering makes a good oil catch can to reduce carbon buildup in direct injection engines and it's an easy install.
It's not a mercedez dude, the interior is great for what it is. Heated and vented leather seats, premium materials throughout with some models being a giant alcantara pillow inside.
@@brendandrives Yeah a guy I work with has a 2021, I drove his a couple times and he drove my vette. He is a bit older and likes that my vette has more room even with the cheaper materials. There is also no great wall of china between passenger and driver.
As someone who races a c7z the level of misunderstanding is staggering. To even think a tesla plaid is more competent or even in remote consideration of similar car.
@@brendandrives never had a problem launching my 2015 automatic Z06. What a blast. I think my tires are the issue. I ll see what happens in warmer temperatures. Thanks for the reply.
Its not terrible, pretty average I'd say. But under 3000 lbs is "light" in my opinion. I've yet to drive anything under 2000 lbs but that would be amazing to try! (Ariel Atom, Exocet, etc...)
Why you ask? Because there's more to the driving experience than just going fast. Sure, the Tesla will have faster numbers on paper.... buy any driver would tell you the experience would be more thrilling in a C7 Z. Besides, who wants to ride around in an electric toaster?
I'm really struggling with keeping my '19 Z06 manual or a C8 Z06 which is being produced. I love driving the C7 and the sound with the manual is incredible. But the C8 looks equally impressive ad I'm sure is not going to disappoint.
@@brendandrivesCamaro ZL1 1LE. It’s GM’s most hardcore and fastest Camaro they’ve built, and it was designed specifically for the race track, even more so than the C7 Z06, and it put down a low 7 minute lap time at the Nurburgring with a 6-speed manual. It came from factory with multimatic DSSV dampers, hard mounted struts, what are probably the largest stock canards fitted to a road car, a giant carbon fiber wing, underbody aero strakes, and 100 treadwear semi slick tires. It also has the same engine as the C7 Z06, but had the cooling necessary to never have an issue with heat soak. Definitely find one to drive if you can, with the manual, and the R comp tires it came with from factory. The ZL1 1LEs are brutal cars that were *definitely* made for track use first, and road driving second.
manuals are fading out for a reason. the auto is better. sold my m7 z06 and never looked back. Lambo and ferrari are light years ahead of chevy and they went away with the manual for good reasons. I never performed a truly hard launch. You have to lack mechanical sympathy and have serious tires on the car to make that happen.
