      True. I started trying to play because of the anime tho but we don’t have a team sadly. So I’m asking the head of the whole school if we could have a team. Tho I’m only 12 I really hope it happens. And if we do get a team I’m going to say it was all because of haikyuu!!

    so is there any special drill you can do to improve your serve/spike on your own?

    • @DOPFilms
      @DOPFilms  8 років тому +29

      Itzak To practice serving should be pretty easy, if you have a net simply the best way to practice is by repetitive serving. If you do not, go into an open area with a volleyball and do the toss and footwork. This will help your timing. If you do the toss and footwork and jump up simply catching the ball at the highest point of your jump, you will improve your timing, we highly recommend that because timing is the most important part. As for spiking, doing it without a net is pretty difficult, however without a net find a wall where you can work on your arm swing mechanics. Throw the ball in the air and hit the ball like a spike standing into the ground near the wall, the ball should bounce up off the wall where you can hit it again. This helps your spiking arm timing and mechanics. If you'd like us to make a video going in depth to things like this, let us know! Hope that helps a little.
      For more information of spiking technique view our earlier video "How to Spike a Volleyball- Demonstration & Tutorial" on our channel. Thank you for commenting!

    You really made it look easier than it actually is. My toss is always short and bad, my runups are really short and i dont generate enough power to have it slam fast. You forgot to say to stretch your right arm back and then hit the ball. That way it generates more power allowing you to serve stronger. I still need to work on my toss and jumps a lot. Thanks a lot

    For the volleyball beginners, just know that this is an advanced level serve. Typically it's best to learn the more basic level serves first. (standing float, standing spin serve)
    Trying to learn how to jump spin serve without first knowing how to A) perform a good spike approach, and B) consistently hit a down ball, could prove fruitless.

  • @johnboone748
    @johnboone748 8 років тому +2

    If anyone is having trouble keeping topspin on the ball through the hit, flick your wrist as you contact the ball, not after. You have to put torque on the ball by hitting just slightly above the equator, and snapping down. Hope that helps

    Ooooooo I can totally relate to this, our coach used to make us do a hundred jumpserves a day every lunch time since our lunch sched back then was 2 hours and 30 mins. long. Not everyday though since there were twelve of us so there would be selectively 1-4 players scheduled per day. Those were the good old days
