But when you also watch the videos you realize this some real shit and you can’t just learn overnight. Sports animes really make you wanna do this you’ve never done!

When your body is that low its better to forcibly dive and have control than have a chance at losing balance and injuring yourself or other. Its not necessary for the ball save but sometimes its necessary for the situation
as adam already said, rolling is the best way to land a dive. it makes it easier to get back on your feet and prevents you and your teammates from possible injuries. even if it’s not necessary in the situation, when practicing, rolling is a great thing to do to make it muscle memory in situations where it is necessary.

Haikyuu is a good show that dramatises volleyball (in some ways) and some of the characters in the show do things that real life people do as the show is based off of real life volleyball positions, experiences and gameplay as the creator had played volleyball himself... We don’t mean to compare real people to our animated players but if we do its not like we are trying to be rude as what the person did probably just reminds us of the player.
