  • A tribute the the JVRR on its very last day of running the summer train rides. In this video we ride the train from start to finish, with some footage and a day of fun from the valley. The JVRR family and crew asked me to put together this video to remember all their hard work keeping this train running over the years, sadly all good things must end. So sit back and enjoy one last trip on the JVRR.
    I would like to thank those of the JVRR family and crew for such a great experience and customer service as well as a great friendship of which I have developed with them in the last few years. I wish them the best in their plans here forward. I would also like to thank them for asking me to do this tribute video for them.
    Thank You again for your hard work and dedication, you will be missed!!

    This is the only video I can find where any locomotive except the 7000 A-unit is pulling a train, it looks like they brought out all the stops for the last ride and had all the motive power they had operational hooked up and running….really cool to see. Personally the EMD GP based low-hood unit is my favorite of their locomotives, to me it’s just the most realistic looking and totally different from the others. Thank you for sharing this!!

      To be honest, I think that was the only time I saw it running as well. There was one time they had their switcher Loco running on the summer rides but I didn't get any footage of that. I kinda took for granted this train would be around forever. Sadly this last ride closed before I had a chance to bring my kids here. My oldest was only 3 when I took this video and rode this ride as well. I also have more videos from that summer including some switching in the yard. Check them out on my channel.

    Railroad is still there, all track, Bridges, equipment. It's family use only now with no plans to scrap or sell.

      Emerson Zentz This is all being cut up for scrap now. It's being kept fairly quiet.

      Glad to hear, can you still visit but not ride. I do model railroading in 1/48 scale and I'm interested in modeling it on my layout.

    In 2011, CSX Transportation announced that they would be acquiring Bridgeport, Missouri-based Junction Valley Railroad, a Class III short line railroad operated by Junction Valley Transportation Association. Starting in May of the same year, CSX upgraded the origin trackage, along with installation of new defect detectors, signals, and grade crossing signals. In 2016, with the acquisition completed, the CSX patched the JVRR locomotives with “CSX” above the cab number. They also repainted the locomotives to the CSX livery two years later. And the double-decker passenger cars have a new home, as private cars on Amtrak trains, especially in the states of Kansas and Oklahoma. So it’s fair to say that the legacy of the JVRR lives on…😉

      I assume this is some sort of Fan-fiction story? This is / was 1/4 scale railroad so if you’re serious you’ve gotten your wires crossed somewhere lol, no way could any of this stuff operate on a standard gauge working railroad.

    Anyone know what they were doing with the equipment. I figure if they're done they would sell it on Discover Live Steam but I haven't seen it there. We could use some extra cars. Any updates or a PM with the where about of the equipment would be appreciated

    • @PreservationEnthusiast
      @PreservationEnthusiast 7 років тому

      +Willysmb44 I don't think there is much demand for quarter gauge. Someone I know has already chopped the trestles and lifted a pile of track.

      +Willysmb44 That is the issue! Nobody wanted it because it was understood to be a money losing plan. If you want to lose your money, go ahead! Invest in this garbage. It is just a short matter of time before you will end up where Jackson Valley did. But, go ahead! Knock yourself out! Money talks! Business rules!

    Too bad there family has zero interest in a mans life long work of art... damn you family.. yep the younger generation has zero appreciation for the past..hope they got screwed on anything they sold off from this...

    Yea! We were up there, the first week of November. We were cutting up the trestle work & signal bridges. Much of the track was already lifted. We took a skip loader & just pry an end up. From there, it just came out of the ground like opening a can of beans! Made some pretty good money too! Much of that stuff was good quality & we got a great sell price on it from a foundry!

    • @PreservationEnthusiast

      Excellent work. This was an eyesore and a saftey hazard. It needed someone to get in there quick and pull it all apart for scrap before someone got hurt on that rusting old junk.

    • @Cockroach2008
      @Cockroach2008 7 років тому +1

      +heelfan1234 Thanks! I we did a pretty good job of it. There were a few things we couldn't take, but we made connections with people who could haul it away. It is just about gone, a blight on the planet removed & a hazard eliminated! We had some fun & made some income at it too!

      I like to tear up and trash bicycle trails, too. Such useless pieces of asphalt. All that schitt should go back to the property owners. Bikes belong on the sidewalks.

    • @Cockroach2008
      @Cockroach2008 7 років тому

      +cnnw3929 That is great! That is good news because we can move in & remove the metal structures you have damaged as a service for the city, county or state & make some money! $$$. After all, money is what it is all about!
      I like to see steam locomotives sent to the scrapper's torches. To help ensure that another museum piece is not restored is to make it beyond economic reason. And this even works on a working artifact! Beat on the piston shafts about 5 times with a 3 pound (2 Kg), mason's hammer. They can do what they want afterwards, but the dents remain which will make the running rough because of the steam leakage. Then they will have to have it removed & hard chromed which is a very labor intensive process, costly & not worth the expense.
      If not repaired, then the steam locomotive is JUNK IRON! Cut it apart & melt it down!

      Ok, great! Another way to make GOOD money is to cut up a brand new 2017 Lamborghini Aventador with that plasma cutter of yours, and post THAT on UA-cam. I bet you can make that sucker go viral. Do it! Do it! Just DO IT!
