I am still closely following you from Pennsylvania, USA. In 2018, I was two weeks away from having a 9 hour SARPE. The procedure was cancelled after learning I would be a first time Mom.💗 I'm continually hoping for someone close to home who is open to offering this for myself, a 38yo. (I work for a large teaching hospital system an hour north of Pa's system capitol.). 🙌 Thank you Doctors & patient, for sharing!
I am having similar appliance of palatal expander but instead of expanding laterally, the expander is expanding my maxilla forward to correct my underbite and crossbite. After 6 months, i will need to get dental implants for the spaces created. The procedure i had called “Anterior Maxillary Distraction”
@@robfolks not AGGA. The appliances called “Anterior Maxillary Distraction” or “AMD”. You can look up on youtube. The appliance is 100% similar to MSE in which you need to self expand using a key 1mm/day. I got total 12mm expansion in 12days. Now its time to wait 6-8months until the spaces created filled with new bones before dental implant can be placed. I dont think AMD messed up with the root of my front teeth, because AMD is preceded with surgery to cut and split your upper jaw then followed by 1mm expansion per day till the desired movement is achieved, your teeth does not involved. Only your upper jaw bones moves.
I have this and the paid is not comparable with any other pain it feels like a constant pressure and pain when you turn, but the results are awesome I have been wearing it for 1 year
Appretiated for this brief visual explanation. You have made things easier for me ,as a pedodontist, to tell about the tongue space, nonsurgecal expansion and nose breathing.
Oh gosh i am so worried about the upcoming costs im gonna have to spend to fix my mouth breathing issues, angry and sad my orthodontist didnt help me when i was younger, just straightened my teeth but didnt address my palette or my awkward jaw
My name is Karina too, and I've found you through following Dr Mew and searching up Orthotropics in Sydney. I think our whole family needs treatment, most importantly my 16 yr old son who was recently diagnosed with ADHD-inattentive, depression and anxiety, and has a narrow jaw and sleeping issues, as well as my husband in late forties who has a deviated septum, and difficulty with breathing and sleeping. I am seeking to know how you would approach such cases - and have just booked an appointment.
Is there a similar style of video for the SAPRE procedure? I have to have it done and I’m a bit confused and anxious about it. Primary question is ‘what holds the skull together once it’s cut in three places? Just the expander device? Cheers. ‘
Where do you operate from Doc I need to see you. A lot of what you described here makes a lot of sense in my case. I am not in US. I need your clinic address plz.
Hi, I definitely have a narrow palate, I have had Nasal/Sinus/turbinate reduction and still struggle a bit to breathe through my nose freely, I am a very healthy 58 year old, can I still have MSE if I get surgery to release the palate fusion?
Thank you for this informative video. Can you advise following the MSE how you would bring the maxilla/mandible forward? Will this patient have advancement surgery ?
Dr Mahony, are you able to do a similar procedure on adults? I’m a healthy 56 year old that has diagnosed sleep apnea, and trouble breathing through my nose.
This is designed for Adults but it depends on diagnosis based on initial records, particularly a 3D xray. Do consider coming for a consult with Dr Mahony.
I have a facial asymmetry from an accident when I was very young. What are some other possible options to improving my palate while also increasing facial symmetry if MSE is not the way to go? Thank you in advance for your time
How do doctors know how changing the maxilla like this won’t negatively impact other facial bones including the sphenoid bone that sits right beneath the brain?
its actually common for the lower teeth to be tipped inwards and the upper to be tipped outwards, indicating that the lower jaw is wider than the upper jaw. MSE can widen the palate, and afterwards braces are used to create a new bite and now the teeth are more upright and aren't tipped as much.
I got MSE about a month ago and the roof of my mouth primarily left side of the roof of my mouth is swollen and very painful. Any recommendations on how to reduce the swelling?
Is your MSE provider not in close contact? I'm interested in the procedure myself but hearing this sort of thing worries me. i would think there should be alot of communication with the provider as the treatment progresses. How is your situation now?
@@icebreaker554 thank you. Loads of people say that the MSE doesn’t affect the lower jaw , can I ask where this info is mentioned? Thanks again for your help!
I’ve heard that people who went to you and had failed MSE that you gaslit them. They wanted an airway increase and you only cared about inter molar width. You should know better that this is not an indicator of a good airway expansion.

A 9hr SARPE? There is something incredibly concerning with that statement. A SARPE should never take more than 1-1.5hrs at the max....
im having this MSE treatment done soon...thank you for this! It's one of the very very few resources out there for this kind of treatment.
Hi! I’m a dentist in Ottawa. I would love to know more about how your treatment goes! Where are you getting this done?
Is this procedure same as EASE?

have you checked how much it will cost you approximately?

It is possible to do the expansion of the upper jaw on two screws for a person 30-35 years old?

What is the maximum age that MSE can be used with, please?
What does she mean by there are other sutures in the maxilla? Like the sutures connecting the maxilla to other facial bones?

Ive never noticed any assymtry in people who expand 5mm or less with mse. Sarpe is a good option if you want to dodge assymtry.

Will this also expand lower jaw and move it forward , to help recessed chin and jaw?
Your lower jaw will not become bigger, but it will reposition, following the development of your upper jaw
