    If both the mesial and distal of the bracket is out of alignment you use one steel tie from either side of the bracket. You could also potentially use a figure 8 O tie. The point is that whatever you use should get the wire seated completely into the base of the bracket on both the mesial and distal sides of the bracket.
    I hope that helps. 😁👍

    Wonderful video, thank you
    My question is that
    So basically we insert the bent end of the steel ligature to the side of the arch wire which is not snugging well on to the arch wire ? In case of Mesial and distal end both are sitting far from bracket
    Tooth is v much out of the line and then can we insert the bent end from either mesial or distal and activate or do we have to do two seperate steel ligatures , one from and one from distal? Sorry if question is silly 😊

    Hi. What types of orthodontic tasks can someone do and cannot do without training/education but wants to learn on the job and eventually take the test . I understand that after 2 years of working as an assistant, I can qualify to take the test . is that true? I am looking into reception/front office positions to start and learn the assistant tasks along the way. thanks

      Every area has their own unique requirements for what a person has to do to work as an orthodontic assistant. The easiest way to find out what is required in your area is to ask an orthodontic office. They should be able to give you a good idea of what it will take to become an orthodontic assistant in your area. Best of luck! 👍

    Would there be a reason why the last two wire changes my Ortho did not align the arch wire with my midline?

    • @likeabossproductions1254
      @likeabossproductions1254  2 роки тому +5

      There are a couple of reasons I can think of:
      1) if you have three lower incisors instead of four because either you had one of them extracted or you were born without one. In that case, the center of your central incisor bracket should be treated as your new midline.
      2) the Ortho is purposely trying to skew one arch to fit the other to compensate for asymmetry in the upper and/or lower jaws.
      3) the Ortho or his staff member simply made a mistake when placing the archwires.
      The most likely explanation is either 1 or 3 but 2 is theoretically possible. You should feel free to ask your orthodontist at your next appointment. You are, after all, paying for the treatment. Every team makes mistakes sometimes, despite their best efforts.
      😊👍

    Isn't there risk of having a small wire go inside the patient's mouth when cutting it?

    • @likeabossproductions1254
      @likeabossproductions1254  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes. That’s why you want to use a distal end cutter to clip any bit of wire that is sticking out the distal of the most distal bracket. The distal end cutter should hold onto the cut piece of wire after it’s cut so you can remove it without the risk of losing that small piece of wire in the patient’s mouth.

    My ortho removed power chain and put single ties I don’t know wht? Could you please tell me the rsn?

    • @likeabossproductions1254
      @likeabossproductions1254  Рік тому +2

      Power chains will close spaces. After the spaces are closed, some Drs keep power chains on to prevent the spaces from re-opening while other Drs place single ties. With single ties in place there is a chance the spaces might re-open but the advantage is that single ties make it a little bit easier to keep the teeth clean because there’s not a chain stretching between all the teeth that food/plaque can hide behind. If spaces re-open, your Dr can always place another power chain to close them. I hope that answers your question. 👍

    when we need to cinch the wire end instead of just distal cut it? thank you

    • @likeabossproductions1254
      @likeabossproductions1254  2 роки тому +4

      You would cinch the wire distal to the most distal bracket if you have a premolar extraction site or long unsupported space. The reason is because when the patient chews food the round NiTi wire will flex and the distal of the wire will slide to the mesial and come out of the most distal bracket. To prevent that you can cinch distal to the most distal bracket and that prevents the wire from being able to slide to the mesial when the wire bends in the edentulous space. If all the teeth are present you usually do not need to cinch distal to the most distal bracket. Also, you usually do not need to cinch wires that are .016 x .022 NiTi or larger, in my experience.

    • @R88886
      @R88886 2 роки тому

      Dr it sounds good to always cinch the wire end. any situation that cinching the wire end will cause a problem?

    • @likeabossproductions1254
      @likeabossproductions1254  2 роки тому +1

      Cinching the wire would only be a problem if you’re trying to open space with a spring on the wire, say to open space to allow a tooth to erupt, for example. In that case, you could still cinch the wire if you wanted to but you’d need to leave enough wire between the distal of the most distal bracket and the cinch to allow the space to open sufficiently before the cinch runs into the distal if the most distal bracket. I hope that helps!

    • @R88886
      @R88886 2 роки тому

      so special care on using open coil spring to upright or distalize molar as more distal space is required to open space there. therefore, leave some wire length before cinch the wire end?

    My orthodontist placed power chains on my upper set of teeth, but on the fourth and fifth tooth, he used single ties…and because of it, I noticed a lack of movement between those teeth. Do you think it would be more effective to use power chains all the way through, instead of the single ties? Thank you for your time, nice video!

    • @likeabossproductions1254

      There are a few reasons to set it up like your orthodontist did and every orthodontist has the way they prefer to do things. As long as you end up with a great result, all's well that ends well. Best of luck!
