    Hey guys!! Im getting this question a lot. "How long did this style take?" For me personally I braided my hair over the course of 2 days off and on, and was not focusing on the hour amount. These braids are long so they took me a while hourssssss). Depending on how fast you (the stylist) braid. the time will vary! Still going to take a while! So get some good movies lined up and get your braid on and be patient with yourself especially if you're trying this for the first time! Good luck guys!

      Caryn Prince does these last as long as regular braids with the knot?

    • @carynprince
      @carynprince  5 років тому +19

      KD Livin’ From my personal experience I would say yes! I’m on week 4, and I’m still enjoying my braids. Also I feel that since these are small to medium in size that also helps with longevity! One more thing lol, I personally love that as they grow out you can’t see a knot slipping from the root of ur hair.

    My method I spend a day parting my hair for the braids with rubber bands, than I just start braiding the next day ~I don’t leave the rubber bands in tho I just use them to hold the parting . I spend a day doing the parting so I can take my time and make it neat so the braids lay nicely because I struggle with neatly parting for box braids. I’m also going to attempt to try this no knots method .

    • @RissaJ101
      @RissaJ101 5 років тому +13

      Mykeisha Evelyn no , it’s not stiff . If you have problems with it being stiff the heat from the shower will take care of it or even a warm towel around the braid ends will help . They are lighter on the scalp as well . Yes I did them and loved them , the longer I had them in the more natural they looked.

    I can’t grip the roots to save my life and I’d really like box braids for my 21st. It’ll be my first “weave” ever and I’m not paying $120 for a stylist to steal my edges 😭

    • @carynprince
      @carynprince  5 років тому +10

      Skye J you can find a good natural stylist who won’t damage your edges it may be best to have a understanding conversation with the stylist letting them know your concerns, make sure you review their work and u like it before you commit. You will have to pay a pretty penny for that type of service if u choose to.

    i know you’ve gotten a lot of questions and i’m sorry to have you keep coming back but do you think this style would work with the rubber band method? i think it would give my hair some extra stretch and help me with cleaner parts but would it be possible for it to be knotless like this?

      Steph S. Thank you, I personally wouldn’t recommend trying the rubber band method on braids this small, for one that will cause major damage and secondly I’m not sure how that would work to be honest I’ve never tried the knotless version using rubber bands on small parts. My advice, find a good edge control that will keep your parts clean while braiding, take your time and be patient with yourself clean parts are a huge part of the battle with braiding hair lol. And you don’t have to be sorry. Good luck💙

    Hey girl how do you you part your hair soo good that is my main struggle when doing my own braids

    • @carynprince
      @carynprince  5 років тому

      Chan S I use a good rat tail comb patience and edge smoothing gel to keep my parts clean. The gel helps those loose hairs stay put and out the way as I braid! Hope this helps.

      @carynprince  5 років тому +2

      Anne Cuthers I braided mine over the course of 2 days didn’t pay attention to the hour amount I just took my time, but this length will take a WHILE lol, and if my dandruff lets me I want to see if I can go 4 weeks!

    Hey Caryn! How do you cut box braids if they are too long??? I love my new box braids but they are entirely too long and I don't have time to head back to my hair stylist for her to fix!! Thanks!!!

    • @carynprince
      @carynprince  5 років тому

      Ann Will hello! If they dipped your hair you should be able to cut them with out them unraveling too bad. At that point you can either burn the tips or use a hot tool to melt the synthetic hair. Or even put rubber bands at the end ( trending right now) Before you commit to any of these I say test it out one braid at a time. And remember they will have a different aesthetic than the do now!
