Nice, previous home owner left a Genesis Gold grille when we bought our home. I have put a few hundred dollars into new parts and have repainted over the last 5 years. Truly feel that the 20+ year old grille is as good or better than any new offerings.
It is, no doubt. I recently purchased a used Weber Spirit 3-burner, and sold it to buy this one. This just seems like a better grill all around. And I love the look as well.
I have a Genesis Gold too.
Just bought on locally off of FB market place for $20. Luv it.
I have one of these sitting in my garage. Trying to find the time to clean it up. Yours is beautiful! Congratulations
Hey Justin! Great to hear from you. If I was more handy, I'd probably restore one myself. The handle seems like the only tricky part. They guy I got this one from is a carpenter by trade, so I'm not sure how the heck he made the handle. He did a great job, and I can't wait to see how yours comes out.
@@GallaghersGrub Fortunately I am not a carpenter so whatever I come up with for a handle is bound to be a lot funnier looking that that beautiful one you ended up with. lol.
Just two months back I picked up a Redhead 1989 genesis II from its original owner in excellent condition as he stored it in the garage when not in use. Very similar to your 1000 only it has one additional shelf to the right hand side of the burner knobs. I’m currently…slowly working to restore the wood slats. Once fully restored I too doubt I’ll cook too much on it. Maybe a special occasion steak here and there! Really enjoy your videos…keep on grilling.
Yes! It is too nice to cook on. My wife thinks I'm nuts. Lol!
I have a Genesis Silver B from 2001, 22yrs old. Next model after yours. You just can't kill them!
True! They are very well built. And I just love the look. Cheers!
Great vid once again. This dropped right on my lunch time.... Now I'm really hungry.
I didn't even cook anything! Cheers Paul.
I've been bragging about my 2000 Genesis Gold C. It was a great grill! Then I found a 1998 Genesis 1000 that appeared to be used one time. Bought it at the local auction house for $37. I replaced the regulator for one that had an Atlas nut. This has replaced the 2000 model since it is in like new condition.
Nice. They really don't make 'em like this anymore.
Nice looking grill.
Yes indeed. I just love the look. Cheers Nick!
That grill is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the video. No hurry, but perhaps show us how it cooks? Take care.
Yeah it cooks like any other grill ever created.
@@ernestvernon9658 Thank you for the education. I had no idea.
@@purleybaker now you know. You’re welcome.
@@ernestvernon9658 I wonder if it cooks like the Kamado Joe next to it.
@@purleybaker exactly the same.
I've got a similar one but with side cooker on the right. I exchanged the original parts for stainless so they don't get messed up... If I want to go back to original it's still possible! Greetz from the Netherlands!
Cheers Ruud! Enjoy your grill. And thanks for watching in the Netherlands. I had a great time when visiting both Amsterdam and Maastrict. Awesome cities!
Absofuknlutely drool worthy!
Lol! Isn't she though.
I have one since 1997. It looks a little rough but still gets to 550 degrees.
There's videos on youtube on how to restore them if you ever felt inclined. It's a well built grill, for sure.
I have an old Genesis. It has solid cast grates in it, not porcelain coated. Significance? After market mod?
Don't think we have these in Australia? Very nice looking unit
Interesting... you're in the land of Weber Qs. Cheers Mike!
Hello, I’m in Massachusetts area as well, was hoping to get your guys contact info, I love this grill !
I believe Weber now has a production facility in Peru.
Let's go visit!
Oooooo, a new OLD toy. Nice.
A new old toy, indeed. Cheers Sheila!
How much would a grill like this set a person back ?
As iconic as the kettle.
It really is a classic.
I have one that I bought in 1993, used it about 5 times and it has been in storage since then, Original, like new! Wondering how much it's worth today?
Clean it up real nice, take some good pics and put it on FB Marketplace. You can probably get $200-300.
Thanks@@GallaghersGrub Good to know about the price. Mine is red like yours, impeccable like yours. All original including the wood slats and handle. It looks almost brand new as I used it only 5 times at the most back in 1993. I wish I would have a backyard or patio to enjoy it. Thanks for your video.
Ive got a Genesis lx that I boughy new 1996 its about the same except black instead of red and its natural gas. No wheels bolted to the deck
I love the Classic Genesis. It has a great look to it. Cheers!
Are the wooden parts original, restored, or new?
The handle on this one is actually plastic, I’ve confirmed. Pine and cedar for the slats, primed with oil based then painted gray with water based paint
How much should one of those grills cost do you think?
You can find them used and beat up for $25. Most people do that and restore them themselves. I bought this fully restored from a great guy who does this with his grandkids. I paid a premium because I like the guy and I like the work he does. I feel it was worth it. It comes down to how much you think it's worth. It's like having a fully restored Trans-am in your garage.
@@GallaghersGrub I've got two that I am just starting to restore. I like the gray! I'm not sure of the value once restored. Do you mind sharing what you paid? Love your videos!
Thanks! Jeff in San Diego
Can you give me the gentlemans name that you purchased this from? Thank you
Send me an email and I'll email you back his Facebook info. He's up near Springfield, Mass.
How ma y BTU
I think about 35,000. But not sure.
You are giving out very false information on the new Weber grills being made in China.
Before you make outlandish statements, try to get your facts straight.
Some of Weber grills are made over seas, not all.
China and Taiwan are the two countries that produce the Spirit and Genesis II models.
@@GallaghersGrub But you didn't bother to tell your viewers that in the first place.
@GallaghersGrub do you mind sharing your contact for this grill?
