  • Permatex Automotive Headliner Adhesive product review. I give an A plus to permatex for making a consumer product that is industrial strength. Extremely fast tack time making sunroof installs easy.

    Great product Permatex. The key is to clean the surface so that it can stick. Spray on both sides and let it sit for 5 min.

    Thank you!
    I'm about to do a headliner... this video gave me peace of mind with that brand of spray.
    Stay good!

    If I had a garage floor like yours I would be afraid to spill on it.

    The can says 5 min, definately dries faster than that even in cooler weather, agree with what you say, 1 min then apply, better get right first time. LOL

    I was wondering if you were going to mention the paint LOL. I've got a headliner to do in my future. Looks like this works pretty well.

      It might seem crazy but having a fast glue with a strong hold makes life so much easier. Just don’t get it on your skin :)

    As it’s a contact adhesive with seemingly instant grab, how do you manage to adjust and manipulate the liner into the recesses etc? Surely the liner has to be ‘worked’ here and there ?

      For my project I started at the center and worked my way out. You really can’t pull it back once it’s stuck but I think that’s what you want.

      This is exactly what I'm worried about. I'm using this for some door cards, which are very oddly shaped, and need to be stretched over in some spots. I spent a lot of time sewing them together so now I'm terrified to glue them lol

  • @SwazNasty
    @SwazNasty 3 роки тому +1

    I spent the last few days sewing my own door cards rather than just wrapping them with no seams, so I've only got one shot... But I'm afraid once I touch the surface I won't have any wiggle room- and there are areas I might need to stretch to fit. Once I touch the surface, am I going to have to commit to that spot? This stuff is pretty sticky huh?

    This one is super sticky! I was so happy with the glue and the end result... until summer arrived in Australia. Headliner started to drop off again after the car was parked outside on few 40 degrees(104f) days :( The product is rated for 77c/170f temp. Not sure why mine failed.

      So far so good for us but we don’t see many 104 degree days in Nc.

      I had this same issue. I did my head liner, then two days later it was 40 degrees Celsius. The car was in a carport the whole day, and it started to sag. Now a month later, it’s back where I started, touching my head when I drive. I did a really good job cleaning the decayed foam off the lining board, used two cans, and sprayed both sides, before bringing together. It stuck so well at first till the heat. Now looking for an alternative product.
